True. I felt like the main concept had enough potential to get one emotionally involved, yet it, sadly, chose not to.

It's just that it mostly didn't make sense, why were the characters acting like they were? They seemed to just be doing random crap. And the motivation of the big bad was fucking stupid.

It needed a better big bad and maybe like 5 extra hours of slowly building up the situation so it made sense for the characters to act like they did.

You know, with all the buildup during Eden of the East, I would have expected a better ending. :?

Spoiler:
Make me king of japan was fine? Won't he die then with no balance? Is that what supposedly will save Japan? Whaaat?

Also, it seems like using crowd sourcing was unnecessary (were there really any other viable options other than shooting the missles down with fighters?).
Though, supposedly there are two movies, so maybe I'll check those out.

Good heavens, sir. Do you regularly drop huge sums of money on things before making some effort to determine first whether they are horrible?

Or did you happen to find it on sale somewhere? In thase case, where? :D (From what I know of it, it is a jolly series indeed. Nice jazz in the soundtrack, too.)

If by "huge sums of money" you mean 30 quid, then yeah. Sometimes.

I am fortunate enough to live within walking distance of a Forbidden Planet. I got it from there.

I would think this would easily lead to some intensely regrettable experiences.

Grrr. Can't think of a good idea to group cosplay as for me and my woman and a friend. She doesn't seem to like anime all that much but enjoys the cosplay. Well no that's not true, she enjoyed hitman reborn for a while. I'm somewhat glad she lost interest in hitman after a while, that is a pretty long series...

Me and woman are male and female. Very skinny white people with brown hair, at same height ~5'11".
Friend: male, little bit taller and above average weight. Also white but has brown curly hair.

Last year we couldn't think of anything so we did FF8 and that worked well enough. But there's like 4 other people with the same outfit in any given part of a convention so it didn't feel as fun. Its just difficult to think of ideas that people will recognize but not have like 8 copies of us running around.

The woman retains veto power over all costume ideas since we're dressing up as something to do with her. I'll let you know if she approves. I think she was mulling over more "girly" outfits since she never wears dresses or makeup.

The problem is she doesn't watch anime or read manga so I have to rack my brain thinking for her. And I really don't watch enough anime suit this need :?

The thought has crossed my mind to one day cosplay as That Guy from that Show with the Thing who does the Cool Stuff to all the Freaky Dudes with that Really Flashy Move and who wears a Black Trenchcoat. This cannot fail.

...Except that I would eventually expect someone to say That Guy dresses in white and has a beard. (Bonus points if you get the reference.)

Haha awesome. Given the ending scenes though it looks like Scanty and Kneesocks might have a Heel Face Turn, I mean how they were looking on from behind the scene and being all like "Whoa, what's going on?" and they obviously weren't treated well by Corset.

At this stage it appears that neither of them have any idea of what's going on, and with Corset semi-abandoning/treating them poorly at the end I wouldn't be surprised if they turned into Friendly Enemies for season 2 before finally turning sides at the end.
Still though, I wouldn't put it past Gainax to make them have a Heroic Sacrafice at the end of the season and kill them off for drama.

.....and to make everyone jizz their pants waiting for season three (which has ALSO been confirmed, according to /a/)

I've started watching Shiki. Why oh why was I not watching this as it aired? It's vampires in an isolated Hinamizawa-esque town, and it's brilliant.

So I've finished watching Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, and I have to say it is the most enjoyable anime I've watched in a very long time. I can't wait to see what they do with season 2.

Spoiler:
Wha? The blue-haired guy is a werewolf? What the hell is he doing working with vampires? That's like a ninja working for pirates, or vice-versa, it could never happen! He did seem a bit dog-like, but I thought he was just an eccentric vampire like the rest of them. Would explain why him and his dad can walk around in daylight, though.

I'm on episode 15. If the content of my spoiler was mentioned before then, I must have missed it. If not, DAMN you get through anime fast. Me, I have distractions such as sleep, and a job (usually not at the same time, but it has been known).

I started watching after dinner and got upto the start of ep 20 at like, midnight or 1am or something? Can't remember the exact times.

Anyway I was just under the impression that you had finished it, which is why I was surprised. My net is capped out now somehow but should be back up on the 9th. I won't spoil anything.

I have the opposite situation. I can't think of any anime that I haven't already watched and that I think I would be interested in seeing. Of course, I thought that before watching Shiki too, so there always seems to be one more hidden gem out there.

It's mainly because of how much spare time I've had recently. Soon as I get back to school that things gonna take a month, minimum.

Episode 8 of Shiki atm. It's definitely one of the more mysterious anime I've seen so far. I'll read the spoilers and post more once I've finished it. Enjoying it a lot right now though.

The thread name has changed. Yay.

I've picked up Gosick from the currently airing series. Shows a little promise, I'll wait and see.

Oh and I've gotten thoroughly bored with Desert Punk. I've only one more DVD in the boxset to go, so I'll finish it, but it's a far cry from hidden gems like Shiki.

Yeah I checked out Gosick too (in fact before I 'finished' shiki), looks okay. I thought "Wth. Why did they make that guy's hair like that, I mean I know it's anime but it seems the rest of the characters have normal hair and that kind of thing annoys me" I'm glad it worked out though.

Looks like it could be interesting, I like stories like this.

The hair is so absurd, even the in-universe characters make fun of it.
