Reven8e (TV)

Postby thc » Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:56 pm UTC

Spoiler:
The pilot was good. It made me all giggly in an evilly maniacal sort of way. It is different. I liked the non-linearity of the plot and the clever and timely use of flashbacks, very much like a good mystery novel. I liked that almost every character is a self-absorbed backstabbing narcissist, including the protagonist; the only "good guy" is a cynical coward, unwilling to take any actions on his own. Everything feels gloomy and gray. What I'm hoping doesn't happen: that this show turns into a reverse Melrose Place. Don't use the revenge plot as an excuse to make this about sex between beautiful people. Let's keep things focused and not convoluted. This show is good for two seasons max. I am thinking more Kill Bill and less Desperate Housewives.

With all that said, I am very much looking forward to the next episode. :)

Then you probably shouldn't watch Mario Lopez's new show H8r.

I really like this show. I thought the pilot and every episode so far has been really good. I'm hoping it continues to be this good. I also like how they've put the flashbacks in at the right times to show new aspects of what happened with Amanda's dad.

I look forward to this show every week. It's one of only about three shows that I keep up with.

Between that and Numb3rs, there appears to be gaps.

I've been watching this show, and while I enjoy the premise, and have thoroughly enjoyed a couple of the take downs, have to complain that this show, is without a doubt, the most unrealistic portrayal of human interaction I've seen on television. It's like if the people in charge of the science writing for CSI:Miami or Bones decided to take that level of absurdity and apply it to character development.
Basically, some of the worlds richest and most powerful individuals act like children, their children act like they've never met a human being outside of the family, and everyone else acts like a stereotype.
... with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet.

You must never have watched Space: 1999, then. Because that is downright painful to watch.
