Discuss. :D

Also, let us all curse Fox's sudden, yet inevitable betrayal!

I just finished rewatching the series, and realizing how awesome and full of potential it was. It is one of two shows that I really wish could have made it, but didn't. Grrr...

Why is mere "Great show" even an option?

Seriously. The one where Mal almost blows Jayne out the airlock? That's when I really realized how fantastic the show and its characters were. I was damn sure we'd seen the last of Jayne - neither the threat nor its retraction were at all out of character for Malcolm. SUCH. GOOD. TV.

Okay, someone say something to convince me to watch Episode 2:The Train Job.

I've watched the first episode pilot thing on the DVD and was.. meh.

If you don't watch it, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you.

Nah seriously, the first episode is the least good one. The train job was the first one I watched, and it's all awesome from there onwards.

The first episode is SO not the least good one. Kids these days, no attention span. Ignore the fact that, by the looks of your avatar, you are older than I. The first episode is just different because it's setting up the whole series. You have to keep watching; most of the people to whom I've recommended Firefly have said to me something along the lines of: it started out kind of meh but when I saw some of the later episodes I realized how good it was.

This is one poll that Otter/Duck will NOT win.

I'll put it on my list of shows to watch when I get enough time (along with Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai Jack, Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy Bebop, and Eureka).

Never seen Firefly. I don't watch TV that much, since we only have one TV in our house, and my parents are always watching their Chinese soaps and news.

I'm guessing that I should?

The bad Mandarin is dear to my heart since I took Mandarin for four years. Mmm, delicious characters.

The name is Firefly-related, and Asian-related, though Mandarin is not involved. It happened by accident when I shortened a longer Internet username of mine that I still use in contexts where four letters isn't enough.

The show is certainly awesome. One of my favorites. However, I don't think you can really call it "the greatest" since we haven't seen it go on. If all shows were restricted to their first 13 (or 15) episodes, then certainly there's a high chance it would be the greatest. But I can't compare a show that's been on less than a full season to one that's been on for four or five etc. The level of depth just isn't the same.
