Dirt Poor Robins

You can find all of their music on Grooveshark. If I was to recommend one song from them, it would be Aqiline (Rise Up).

I'm doubting, but I have to choose Alan Parsons over Eric Clapton.
You probably know most of his work, and finding it shouldn't be too hard.
Dark side of the moon has got to be his best work,
but if you want work with his name written under it, I recommend Eye in the Sky.

Sparklehorse is definately worth checking out. I've been listening to their albums on Spotify almost constantly the past week.

Good stuff.

Shaka Ponk, some weird electro rock from Germany.

Not a group I really know, I sort of found them by chance. But I really like that. Also, they have made a few funny videos that you can find on youtube, such as this one:

Transatlantic
OSI (Office of Strategic Influence)

Both are progressive supergroups, and are really good. I'm currently stuck on the albums "Blood" (OSI) and "Bridge Across Forever" (Transatlantic)

Uh...this is so hard.

Los Campesinos. Not my absolute FAVORITE, but it is the only thing I can think to suggest right now. They are pretty awesome.

Also, if someone else already said this, sorry. Tried to get through the whole thread...couldn't do it.

I'm going to recommend World/Inferno Friendship Society. If you're into ska, punk, cabaret, orchestras, they've got things in common with all of those genres. And more! If you don't like one of these songs, at least have a listen to the others because they're all pretty different.

I'm addicted to this song, "Addicted to Bad Ideas": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onrklAlfDIE

And for other samples of their different styles:
-"Me v. Angry Mob", watch the video on this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gjuv3rFOQaU
-"M is for Morphine": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-24tqqio-M
-"Brother of the Mayor of Bridgewater": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq-RcESpqLI
I'm addicted to bad ideas, and all the beauty in this world.

It is a crime that this band isn't insanely successful:

New Radiant Storm King.
Here's a vid.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pZxJ8XVUIs

They have something like eight albums out. They did a split 7" with GBV. (Guided by Voices's "I am a Scientist" was inspired by NRSK's "The Opposing Engineer (Sleeps Alone)")

Just knowing that their name is not plural and contains no definite article is enough to put you in a very exclusive club.

Tanzwut

Like early Rammstein, but with BAGPIPES. This is more awesome than it should possibly be. I have only found one of the four albums they made, but it rocketed to my top 10 list EVER almost immediately. Anyone interested in NDH or symphonic metal should check them out.

Also, kudos to the people that recommended Maximum the Hormone and Nightwish on the last page. Buiikaesu was good and I can't wait for Wind Emblazed.
