unscrew - hippcamp ruins sgt. peppers - sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band

They took every song from Sgt. Pepper's and turned them into experimental electronic. I mean, some songs are basically covers of the originals, plus some voice manipulation and synths, but some of them are completely random and awesome. I can't even hear how the cover of She's Leaving Home is related to the original, except a little bit at the beginning, and it's one of my favorite songs on the album.

I don't think they sell it anywhere, and I only found it on a private tracker, but if you happen to see it anywhere (extremely, extremely unlikely), download it. It's awesome.

Y'ok, so I just finished getting Beatillica's two albums (Metallica does Beatles - songs like Hey Dude and I want to choke your hand...). Haven't listened yet, but thought it was weird...

ETA: am now listening to unscrew - hippcamp ruins sgt. peppers - sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band as well. Yup, it's awesomely awesome, and totally messed. I love it!

Eh. I've downloaded a few Beatles cover albums and I never liked any of them. Except the hippocamp one. It doesn't really feel like a cover album though.

Right now: Mariza - Chuva.
Next: Mariza - Oh Gente Da Minha Terra.
(both can be found on youtube)

Both reflect my kinda sad mood very nicely. You probably don't need to understand Portuguese to feel the saudade. Just listen.

Supertheory Of Supereverything, by Gogol Bordello. What a fun song.
Go, said the bird, for the leaves were full of children,
Hidden excitedly, containing laughter.
Go, go, go, said the bird: human kind
Cannot bear very much reality.

For the last 15 minutes or so, a play list consisting of Thriller, Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Beat it, and Bad. (Honestly, if you don't know the artist of that list, you don't deserve to live, IMO.)

The Cure - "Round and Round and Round"

And I really don't know why we do it like this,
Imitation smiles and how "it's wonderful to be here!"
I'm really not sure what we're so scared we'll miss

Maybe it's the sex with the drugs and the fools
Or maybe it's the promise of belief?
Maybe it's the pleasure and the pain of the cruel
Or maybe it's the promise of relief?
And I know that we've said it so many times before
"Once more and never again"
But however many times that we've said it before
Once more is never the end...

Gym Class Heroes - Faces in the Hall

It's one of those story songs, and it's fairly depressing.

Alberto couldn't take it
He'd just stop showing up and whenever he walked them halls
He just felt like throwin' up
And night he would cry and cry and ask "God why?"
Like "God, why the fuck'd I have to be born this way?"
God would reply, "Son, you've gotta show 'em you're more than gay"

It's really direct, just telling the story. The kid ends up getting beat to death, and then a girl gets hooked on heroin. There's also a car crash.

Okay, it's pretty depressing. But a lot of the good story songs are, amirite?
I sing anyway.

Currently listening to God of War music playing in the background on my PS2. It makes everything I do around the house seem epic. Even taking out the garbage is exhilarating.

"The Right Profile" by the Clash, while I drink milk and eat chocolate chip cookies. Life is good.

They're gonna be in town on August 31st at the Crystal Ballroom...the day after I leave town for a couple months. :( I've been wanting to catch their live show for a while (I had so many chances back in the day, but I didn't know their stuff yet or there was that one time when I was feeling crappy and didn't go. Damn my eyes!)

Muse is gonna be in town when I'm away too. Argh. But I'm gonna hang in my SoFla hometown and catch a play in New York and go to Europe and get a car, so I guess that makes up for it. :)

And make your voices one
Cuz when it's time for blowin' minds

Barons in Trees - Song 97

Cool little local band that I've seen a few times. Folky jazzy stuff played with acoustic guitars, electric bass, cello, keyboard, clarinet, plastic bags, and the occasional beat-boxing. They're looking for a percussionist (although they play good live without one) and made me play a bracelet shaker thing on one of their songs last time. :)

Dead Prez - Hip-hop

You would rather have a Lexus or justice?
A dream or some substance?
A Beamer, a necklace or freedom?

Dilated Peoples - Worst Comes To Worst

I got worldwide family all over the earth
And I worry ’bout ’em all for whatever it’s worth
From the birth to the hearse, the streets, the guns burst
Words I disperse are here to free minds
And if mine are needy I need to feed mine

When worst come to worst, my people come first

Set up shop and write a verse
Actually, that’s best come to best
My lyrics take care of me, they therapy
Get shit off my chest
Extra stress, three-four over the score
Different patterns of rhymin' prepare me for war
So next time you see us we’ll be deadly on tour

Gift of Gab (of Blackalicious) - Chemical Calisthenics

Neutron, proton, mass defect, lyrical oxidation, yo irrelevant
Mass spectrograph, your electron volt, atomic energy erupting
As I get all open on betacron, gamma rays thermo cracking
Cyclotron and any and every mic
You're on trans iridium, if you're always uranium
Molecules, spontaneous combustion, pow

Law of de-fi-nite pro-por-tion, gain-ing weight
I'm every element of brown

Lead, gold, tin, iron, platinum, zinc, when I rap you think
Iodine nitrate activate
Red geranium, the only difference is I transmit sound
Balance was unbalanced then you add a little talent and

Careful, careful with those ingredients
They could explode and blow up if you drop then
And may hit the ground

Let it flow, yo, just let it go, get back

C-A-O-H-2 wine water solution of calcium hydroxide
Slobbin it, C-A-O lime will make bleach powder
Galvanic metal beats stomp out louder
Dried ice, C-0 squared refrigerant
N-O-2 makes you laugh, it's laughing gas used by the dentists
I nearly added acid glue, I'm like oil of a toil, the king of chemicals
And the G heat gas waved all your mats
Chemical change, ice point, melt all your raps
Atomic weight, hold shocks, when you call
Refillable gas keep going way beyond
Biotch I'm only ill with buzzin, feel the ambiance
A diabetic process outta calm your ass
After I warm your ass, I'll give sodium, silicate N-O-2-S-1-O-3, a water glass
Borax flexure full of brimstone sulfur
Boraxic acid, hip-hop preserver
C-O-2 could never put away the fire
Style aroma is scientific; the lyrical fuse would be connected
To teach you chemical calisthenics

The Theory is that all matter is composed of at least three fundamental particles
Protons, electrons, neutrons, Protons charge is positive
By now you've guessed electrons are probably negatively charged
Neutrons don't follow either, neutral, in the middle, only no apologies
Centered, unmoved by yin and yang ideology
Neutron, bomb songs, electron fury
Cosmic musical radio-activity
Different points in joints within infinity
Oxygen and hydrogen alive within all types of energy
Within all types of energy
Within all types of energy
Within all types of energy
Within all types of energy, inside a world, inside a world
Inside a universe, inside of me existing although I can't see it

Hydrocarbon, nitrogen cycle, ionization
Heavier than electric motor metals that weigh over a ton
This has been a chemist, Blackalicious creation
Clean out your desk, put your papers away cause class in almost done

This is chemistry plus calisthenics
I'm calcium plus potassium, magnesium, newspaper of sodium, sulfate
Your solvent, chloroform, remedy from the norm
glycerin, purest form Titanium
there is no way out, when this newfy is out
of all arms vibration, forming in a nigga
some bleachin' to teach ya religious is equal to pieces of meteor
Eager to be here or is it, can see here I know all of all
I'ma pickin' up pretty little Cindy
I'm more, I'm thinkin of more,
I'm cookin a potion!

Múm - Green Grass of Tunnel

Down from the ceiling
Drips great noise

It drips on my head through a hole in the roof

Behind these two hills here
There's a pool
And when i'm swimming in
Through a tunnel
I shut my eyes

Things that never really were alive

Buckwild to all of my niggaz who don't care
Floss like a bunch of young black millionaires
Makin ya run, me and my Dunn, stackin my ones
Floss a lil', invest up in a mutual fund
Blowin the horn, a sense of every day I was born
Never dream I see a nigga landscaping my lawn
Dangerous, my nigga shit be accurate
Have to get, the flow be so immaculate
Aiyyo, aiyyo, watchin my dough, sippin my Moe'
Slippin in slow, them pretty bitches sayin hello
Anyway go 'head and diss, play your Oil of Olay
Little honeydip within a little Cariola
I don't mean to hold you up but I got somethin to say
Swear to only give you hot shit everyday
Afraid of us, you know this ain't no game to us
You strange to us, that's when we gettin dangerous, come on

VNV Nation - "Entropy"

In the face of grave defeat, I heard cries for mercy,
No barrier of self control, no innocent composure,
Abusing love, and like a child inflicting pain upon itself,
When the calling finally comes,
Will there be no one waiting?

Will there be no one waiting?

In blind despair, taken in
By any glimpse of freedom
Sell your soul to buy some time
Infect all your longings
The thought that God has taken sides
On the path to breaking down
Disconnected but not alone,
Scream to the tune of the background noise"
