Yes, unfortunately neither of them is Hendrix guitar-ly nor vocally. And their stage gimmicks doesn't seem to get the needed response from the audience. Apart from that - guys seem to be young and future looks relatively bright for them.

Hey guys, here are two new songs my buddy and I just put out last night:

Living Dead: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFzs_UM-lQ0
Gold: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpdcVMNEUZM

Here's the first song we recorded. Far from good but has much funny (make sure you stay till the end...):
Stevie Ray: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wKS3TiDxA8

The ghost playing the drums is me :).

Oh, it's you guys. I reconigzed it because your drummer doesn t wear a shirt.

Keep on not wearing it!

The intro of Living Dead is sweet.

Actually, that goes for both songs.

Ah k, thanks. I'll request to have it merged.

similiar to a handycam... HDR-fx7 maybe? no, I don't think it was HD. It's still miniDV, and maybe.. six years old now? I can't really be sure. But yeah it's handycam-like.

ALSO
I WOULD LIKE TO ADD
Remember my last band thing? Yeah, well, we constantly rename ourselves, and here's something new:
http://www.myspace.com/smallbonesband
and three videos.
I hope you enjoy, I'll let you guess which one I am (hint: there's three of us and you have a picture for reference on these very fora!).

summer's almost here so maybe recording is here too. who knows? I don't.
edit: this was shot on a point-and-shoot panasonic. The quality is a lot higher, but youtube doesn't like .avchd or whatever the format was.. so i had to open it in sony and convert it to .mp4 and blurghh.

I have published a new album: Highways.

This one is more straightforward than my previous stuff, mostly because these songs are really old. The recordings are completely new, though. It's pretty much an album that I've had inside me for many years without having ever done it properly.

sick. and classy. me likes much.

Here's some songs from an album i did last summer. I sort of got over it since then but there's no harm in posting it online:

Inspired by war shit. Bombs and Bullets. I'd label it as alternative folk. If you do manage to get on the page, look at metzger and uncle mengele. I think those are the better songs of the choices available.

This is my band: The American Autumn

We play catchy original rock/power-pop and just put out a record called Do You Like Me? Yes/No/Maybe earlier this year.

You can check us out on MySpace or Last.fm, if those are more your style.

Hello everyone,

I am a composer/songwriter/arranger/copyist/chorus teacher/guitar player/conductor, and some other things I left out. :)

I have a writing partner, and together we created http://www.morningstarrmusic.com/. We just want to create music for any scenario possible - TV, film, classical, rock/pop, video games. We've mostly been focused on modern/rock musical theater. Lots of stuff can be be heard at http://www.morningstarrmusic.com/musicmedia/. It's not all of the greatest production quality, but whatever. I hope you enjoy it! :D

I just finished my second album today. It's made up of 11 tracks that combine hard rock, industrial beats, and electronic sounds. It's called "The Shivers," and I put it up on BandCamp to be listened to (in high quality, no less).

ianmarquis.bandcamp.com

I spent a year and a half (on and off) on these tracks. I'm not even sure how to feel now that I'm done.

Dude, all I can say is: Damn, this shit is neat.

It reminds me off Infected Mushroom ( Which are unmeasureable amounts of awesome ) mixed with the awesome things of Marilyn Manson ( especially the singer, is it that you? ) but without the whiny "hurhur teenage life sucks! Look at me I'm so scary" things.

Anyway, I listened to the first four songs ( And House of Cards, as I hoped it'd be a electro hard rock version of Radiohead's song ) and if the other songs are just as good. Well, then it's awesome.

I think you get my point. ( Oh god my posts are so incoherent )

Edit: Neat! Lyrics and info! I love that.

Edit2: The guitar in One for the Road is awesome.

Dasboard: All I can really say is thank you. Seriously - your post made my morning.

Yep, the singer is me. I did absolutely everything on the album, which was one of the hardest parts of finishing it. If I got burned out, or an idea went sour, I had to let it stew for sometimes months and just do something else. A lot of the songs were unfinished for long stretches while I picked at others. This summer, everything came together.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, man - I really appreciate it.

My pleasure, really.

Nice job on the singing, I like. And I already got that idea from the info you posted with the lyrics. ( Me also like. ) Neat stuff!

It always makes me smile when someone likes my singing, because I know my voice isn't...traditional? It's odd. And I've only been singing for a couple of years now, so it's still sometimes a shock to listen to.

I also made a little EP to go along with the album, with some tracks that didn't make it on the main list. It's called "Just a Chill."

Haha, I dislike most "traditional" voices. It's always nice to hear someone with a unique/weird-yet-awesome voice. ( Billy Corgan is a great example. )

I like the singing on That's Okay. Nice song to just speed up in your car and think of nothing. I love the next three tracks. All instrumental but damn, those guitars are nice, combined with those simple, but energizing beats it's just awesome. Not getting repeatative thanks to some sweet ups and downs in the songs. I like hoe Holiday 1999 is so cheerful, insincerety so dramatic and Pressure plate just so awesome, my favourite one.

Remind sme a lot of Infected Mushroom. ( Edit: Wait I said that already, didn't I? )

I'm almost at the end of the 4th song right now, so you'll hear about the 5th one soon. :P

Well, I would definitely agree that I have a nontraditional voice. Billy Corgan was actually an inspiration in getting me to sing more. I always thought his voice was one of the oddest in popular music - but he was still hugely successful.

Yeah, his voice is bizarre yet so awesome. I mean, it doesn't sound pretty at all, yet the Smashing Pumpkins have some of the most beautiful songs ever.

I think "odd" voices work because music is so personal. Hearing someone use their voice - probably the purest instrument we have access to - to create moving sounds can be an intense experience. I find that the more I know about an artist, the more I appreciate their music, because it gives me a window into their work.

Agreed, it's just that a lot of singers have the same sort of voice. But a voice like Billy's or David Bowie's would be reconigzable out of thousands.

Also agreed on the second thing, I love learning something about artists or why they wrote the songs, etc... It makes it more personal, and helps you understand and appreciate the songs.

But with some bands, I'm a bit dissapointed at what I find out and that always inevitably leads to me not listening to them anymore.

And to me your voice reminds me of Robert Smith of The Cure. One more quite original voice :)

Jam: Yeah, I get that quite a bit on this album. :) On my first one, people were comparing my voice to Marilyn Manson quite a bit.

Dasboard: I know what you mean. I've been into a band's sound before, and when I actually found out who they were as people, it killed it for me. Never a good feeling.

Just so you guys know, anyone who wants to purchase this stuff on Bandcamp can get it in a ton of formats (including FLAC and 320kbps MP3). I uploaded the WAV masters, so the source audio is uncompressed. The quality is even better than the streaming audio (and the streaming audio is very good).

I made an account just to say this because it is so surreal: I literally saw you post about your album in two different places consecutively even though I don't know you.

First I was poking around on Fake?'s Facebook page, and I saw a post that you made about finishing your album, citing Ken as a major inspiration. Cool name, I thought, I'll have to check it out in a bit.

A few minutes later, I go to the music section on xkcd's forum, and HERE YOU ARE AGAIN. I didn't think there could be two albums entitled "The Shivers". What a small, small world.

Anyway, I will definitely listen when I have slept some and am more able to appreciate. From what you've said, it sounds like music I'd enjoy.

Jeniluna: That blows my mind. If there's any "group" I rarely (if ever) encounter people from, it's FAKE? fans. I don't even know that I've ever found anyone else online (outside of pages specifically for Ken's music) who even knows about FAKE?. That's more than small-world - it's microscopic!

Definitely let me know what you think once you've had a chance to listen.

Hey! I'm preeeetty new to this forum, but I've been keeping up with the comic for years.
I write and record my own music and play shows around the St. Louis / southern IL area and have been doing so for a few years now.
I have a couple extended plays on iTunes and start recording my first full-band full length next week and should be done sometime in January-ish.

www.myspace.com/thelongshotstl

It's sort of an acoustic / indie sort of thing, very poppy but there are no full-band recordings up as of yet

If you're into electronic/dance music, then please give my band a go. Here's a link to our Facebook page:
Sardonica.
We don't really want to be lumped into a pre-defined genre, but honestly we'd be considered somewhere between Drum'n'Bass and Dubstep, I'd imagine. From our Facebook page there's links to our EP and music on Jamendo, Triple J Unearthed, Soundcloud and Last.fm, but incase you're not Facebook-inclined:
Sardonica on Last.fm
Sardonica on Jamendo
Sardonica on SoundCloud

At the moment, we're trying to build a bit of buzz on the internet, as that seems to be the way to go with this sort of music these days. On the Australian album charts on Jamendo, our EP is actually ranked at #5 for the week (above the latest album from Birds of Tokyo), so we're absolutely ecstatic.

Sorry for the shamelss plug, just trying to get the word out there.
