Predict your future using your music

Postby johnie104 » Sun Jun 08, 2008 6:57 pm UTC

Ok, put all of your music in a playlist and set it to shuffle. The first three songs you'll encounter predict your future. My future:
Alien Ant Farm - Wish
Nirvana - Territorial Pissings
The Beloved - Sweet harmony

So, I'm am gonna wish for territorial pissings and it will all end in sweet harmony. I can live with that.

An other try:
2 Unlimited - No one
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside
Stealers Wheel - Stuck in the middle with you

No one is on the otherside, so I'm stuck with you, hmmm...

PS: You might want to move this to forum games, but I think it fits better here.

JT bruce - Viridian
Ben Folds - Silver Street
Nightwish - Nightwish

So a green blue and silver street, at night, with a wish. I'd guess that the best wish would be this: http://xkcd.com/92/

1) Tales of Phantasia - Cave of Illusion
2) Final Fantasy 6 - Allfactory (OC Remix)
3) Sniper - Gravé dans la Roche - Hall Story (lyrics)

So I'll be in a cave, then the halls of a factory tellin' my story?

Ok, let me try one more, but remove all the video game remixes and soundtracks.

1) Garth Brooks - Scarecrow - Don't Cross the River
2) Bob Marley - Jammin'
3) Ricardo Arjona - Sando Pecado - Amarte a Tí [To Be in Love with You]

So I'll be jammin' down a river loving someone. Not too bad. KF

1. Sanctus - (from Britten's War Requiem)
2. Afro Blue (Stephane Wrembel Trio)
3. Tiger Rag (Django Reinhardt)

Um... Apparently I will be a religious depressed person in Africa, then I will get eaten by a tiger. My life is gonna suck. Let's try that again:

1. Zigeunerweisen (composed by Pablo de Sarasate, performed by Edgar Meyer, Béla Fleck, and Mike Marshall)
2. Beethoven Symphony 6 "Pastorale" Movement II: Andante molto mosso "Szene am Bach" (Scene by the Brook)
3. Holst's The Planets Movement II "Venus, the Bringer of Peace"

This one is much better. I'm gonna hang out with some gypsy violinists by a brook, and it's gonna be really peaceful. Also maybe the brook will be on Venus. Either way, pretty cool.

1. Jonathan Coulton- Octopus
2. Iron Maiden- 2 Minutes to Midnight
3. NOFX- Anarchy Camp
.... So, then... An octopus will appear at about 2 minutes to midnight and take me to anarchy camp? Let me try again, then...

1. Streetlight Manifesto- A Better Place, A Better Time
2. Operation Ivy- Big City
3. The Toasters- Life In a Bubble
In a better place and a better time, in a big city, I will be spending my life in a bubble.

So...um. I'll be going nowhere, while living on borrowed time, and then go on an LSD trip?

Pink Floyd - Speak to me/Breathe
PFM - Dove... Quando
Gentle Giant - The advent of panurge

I'll be breathing and speaking with someone when/where a giant comes? pretty okay!

Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
Carry On Dancing - Savage Garden
One More Won't Kill Me - The Hedrons

Sooo, I'm on Baker street and am dancing and dancing, and just keep on dancing. I'm obvious taking some drugs to be able to do this and not feel socially awkward, I take more drugs thinking another wouldn't kill me.

Rhapsody of Fire: "Silent Dream"
Nightwish: "Bless the Child"
Jimmy Buffett: "Ragtop Day"

Well, that all seemed to predict a sad, lonely life and death until the King of the Parrotheads showed up. Party time!

1) Das Ich - mann und frau gehen durch die krebsbarracke
2) Fungus Grove (midi file - zone music from EQ)
3) HL1 song19 (from HL2 sounds) -- Steam in the Pipes/Negative Pressure
Sounds ominous, but I'm not sure about the German. What does "krebsbarracke" mean?

Bruises - Unloco
Perfect Strangers - Dream Theater
Twoism Presents - Intro

Erm...I'm going to be bruised by some strangers, and something about twoism?

Trying again.

Ikea by Night - The Flower Kings
The Way It Used To Be - Dream Theater
I Am The Walrus - The Beatles

Hmm...I'll be in IKEA in the evening, thinking about my past, and then go delusional?

No, I know what the lyrics are saying (2 minutes to midnight= doomsday clock, war, etc.). I just chose to take it literally here, and only incorporate the song title into the prediction.

1. Streetlight Manifesto- A Moment of Violence
2. The Toasters- Night Train to Moscow
3. Pink Floyd- Stop
A moment of violence will break out on a night train to Moscow, and the train will be forced to stop....

1. Jonathan Coulton- Bacteria
2. Operation Ivy- Healthy Body
3. Jonathan Coulton- I Feel Fantastic
So, then, I'll feel fantastic when my healthy body fights off bacterial infection, while I keep my sick mind occupied with prescription drugs... I really couldn't have asked for a better combination of sings here.

Dirty Projectors - Winter Is Here
Tyrannosaurus Rex - Romany Soup
Brian Wilson - Child Is The Father Of Man

 That worked out pretty great. Come chilly winter, I shall warm my insides with a steaming bowl of romany soup, before discovering that (by virtue of a pretty wicked paradox of space-time) my unborn child is actually my father.

...*thassawkward*.

The Future Soon - Jonathan Coulton
Sacred Power of Raging Winter - Rhapsody of Fire
Episode 11 - Douglas Adams (HHGTTG)

Um. Yeah, I have no clue where I'm going with this.

EDIT: Apparently, I'm going to make an army of robots, who will be defeated by winter (damn my failing to learn from Napoleon. Or Hitler.) and will proceed to...Ok. I haven't actually listened that far into HHGTTG, but that's near the end of the secondary phase, so...I'll put myself in a Total Perspective Vortex.

RENT soundtrack: Light My Candle
Frou Frou: Let Go
Black Eyed Peas: Let's Get Retarded

So I'm going to light some fire, let it go out, and then go get drunk. Sounds like fun, actually. Who's with me?

Or even better:
A Pirate's Life For Me
Fiona Apple: A Better Version of Me
Track 4 from the rock opera Godot, The Wait Is Over

So I'm going to be a pirate, and then I'm going to be something even better, all to hang around and wait to see if Godot is going to come.

Constantines - I will not sing a hateful song

I'm going to download some non-hateful songs, and sing them. They'll make me feel safe.

DJ Martcore- Next Generation
Monty Python- The Spanish Inquisition (This is from 'The Final Rip-Off')
Green Day- Welcome to Paradise (I STILL have this, wtf!?)

I guess that my next generation will join the SPanish Inquisition in order to build a paradise without heathens.

Tomoyasu Hotei- Battle Without Honor or Humanity I actually bought it to see what it was, still like it
Audioslave- #1 Zero
Led Zeppelin- Dancing Days

So, after a fierce battle of which I will be the victor, I will still be a forgotten zero, and dance till the end of time.

Zox - Goodnight
Pixies - Gigantic
Cake - You Turn The Screws

Um... I guess I'm going to sleep, grow gigantic, and turn the screws... fail. Vunce more, vid feeling!

They Might Be Giants - Birdhouse In Your Soul
They Might Be Giants - Withered Hope
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark

Much better. I will hope for something, then my hope will wither, then it will return and help me in the dark.

Nice idea for a thread, by the way.

Clokx - Clocks

All the things she said on her majesty's secret service are about clocks. But that's what SHE said!

This is rather fun. I'm going to try another one. Though, rather than skipping through, since I'm listening to my MP3 player queued up on "Play All", I'll just put the next three things that show up here.

1) Donkey Kong Country 2 - Mechanical Swamp (OC Remix)
2) Hitman Codename 47 - Chained to a Barcode (OC Remix)
3) Juanes - Mi Sangre - La Camisa Negra [the black shirt]

So... I'll be traipsing through the swamps forced to be an assassin, wearing a black shirt that brings up bad memories. Part of that doesn't sound so bad. KF

Not counting the standup comedy and podcasts that came up:

Phish - Back on the Train

Buncha mainstream stuff. Apparently I'll die a virgin at 86 under a train. De-lovely.

Spoon - The Underdog
The Killers - Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf
Keane - Can't Stop Now

I will be a raving alcoholic who has tried to quit but ultimately fails until there is a movie about my slow struggle to overcome it. DEFINITELY!

And again:
The Decemberists - Leslie Anne Levine
Kaiser Chiefs - Everything is Average Nowadays
Modest Mouse - Bukowski

I will be a mediocre writer. Ghostwriter that is.

So, I get to meet an elf in a tunnel at midnight. That's cool.

Another:
I Set My Face to the Hillside - Tortoise
There's Only Me - Rob Dougan
Liberi Fatali - Nobuo Uematsu

I'm all alone in the countryside... but I'm a "fated child"?

The Beatles--A Hard Day's Night
Bob Dylan--Tombstone Blues
Elvis Costello--Two Little Hitlers

So, I will be in Tombstone, Arizona, feeling bad at night during a hard days work, and meet a pair of minor tyrants.

Zebda--Le Petit Robert
The Decemberists--The Soldiering Life
Sam Cooke--Having A Party

I will join the military, and attend a party with a small man named Robert.

Charlie Pride - Help me make it through the night.
U2 - Sweetest Thing
U2 - When love comes to town

So I'll meet someone who will be there for me, and I'll fall in love?

BTO - Four Wheel Drive
Eagles - Lyin' Eyes
The Man With the Harmonica

I'll be picked up by an untrustworthy man with a harmonica while hitchhiking.

Trespassers William - Weakening
Mozart (Requiem) - Dies Irae
Shawn Colvin - Polaroids

So I'll be waiting for my love, but s/he won't come, so I get angry, destory the whole world in my godly wrath, but then I get lots of therapy, go back home to mom, find my love, lose him/her again and come to the conclusion that love just is crazy.

Pink Floyd - Stop
The Olivia Tremor Control - Black Foliage (Animation 4)
Animal Collective - For Reverend Green

So I take it I'm going to stop doing whatever it is I'm doing and make obscure animated movies with a reverend.

Or:

Butthole Surfers - Graveyard
The Decemberists - Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)
The Unicorns - I Was Born (A Unicorn)

I will be murdered with a bayonet and buried, and then reborn as a unicorn.
