your walking theme

Postby johnie104 » Sun Aug 24, 2008 10:25 am UTC

If you were a superhero/mayor-company-CEO/ruler-of-the-world/something-cool what would be the song/theme people would hear when they saw you walking (or flying if you're a superhero)?

I would say 'O Fortuna'.

This song from 1:30 onwards.

Let's hope I never become a superhero cause I'd have a hard time deciding which of the Go! Team's songs to use as my theme!

maybe this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMtLBXlMZ-s

I'm gonna have to list several options.
-At least the opening riff from Bloc Party's guitar hero hit Helicopter
-State of Massachusetts by Dropkick Murphys
-A Whisper and a Clamor by Anberlin

I would make such a cool TV hero.

Ooh, this is an easy one.

Scream and Run Away by The Gothic Archies. Of course, I'd have to be wearing a jarring and garish ensemble, else the effect wouldn't be quite the one I'd be aiming for.

For your reference

This song makes me feel like I should be walking down the street snap-pointing at people like Saturday Night Fever.

Surprised no one has volunteered "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" from Kill Bill.

It's... just badass. There's nothing else to say about it.

It woudl also mean that you'd have to be being attacked by cyborg mutant zombie communist Nazi Croatian Japanese samurai ninjas every couple of seconds, else the music wouldn't fit.

Darn, ShaKri beat me to it with Clubbed to Death. My second choice would be Lux Aeterna from Requiem for a Dream :-P

Or, to be more original, Untitled #6 from Sigur Ros' album ( ).

Sabre Dance.

EDIT:
by the way, that's the song you hear on the Simpsons a lot whenever anyone does something "crazy". IT's a classical song, an instrumental. Trust me; you know it.

Terra in Black. Probably from around 00:50.
I see the hero walking with purpose to their destination, knowing exactly what they plan to do, or maybe a training/practice scene.

Continuing on from the Spaghetti Western theme, I think The Ecstasy of Gold would be a handy crescendo for a good POWER WALK, providing it lasted about five minutes, as you really need the whole thing.

I swear this was also used in Kill Bill 2? No? I know I'm wrong, as wikipeeja wouldn't lie.

most of my firnds say my theme song is Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

though I think Legion by VNV Nation would work, too.

or any of a number of OCRemixes, depending on my mood. heroes really need mood-dependent theme music, I think.

I think I would have a hard time deciding on that matter.

Candidates include:
- 2nd Remix on Clint Mansell's brilliant soundtrack for Requiem for a Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUtCnARxWxQ) as loud as technically possible.
- Depending on what kind of superhero I am, maybe "Together We Will Live Forever" from the OST of "The Fountain" (also by Clint Mansell) might be even cooler (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IjpMIhK9ego). It is by far the most beautiful song I've ever listened to.
- 65daysofstatic - radio protector
- No superhero should take him/herself too seriously: Incubus - Megalomaniac
- "Ratatat - Lex" or, slightly more dramatic, "Ratatat - Loud pipes". Why have I not yet heard those songs in a movie?
- And finally Amanda Palmer - Guitar Hero.

So I guess it really comes down to the situation.

Because I can't do an epic walking song unless it's at walking pace, and this is so "I'm very chill."

This totally depends on what my super powers are.

If I'm super-strong/invulnerable, then "Still Alive" the acoustic Jonathan Coulton version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxNmeMklFk8

If I fly, Thunderstruck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvoeeq-BH4w

Anything involving large amounts of destruction, Godzilla http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTW19g-uUTw

Or anything in general, Purple Haze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnFSaqFzSO8, Helter Skelter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WuJ3EvNh-0, or Hero of the Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60UJ7Qc4_E0.
