Cool music videos

Postby SpitValve » Fri Mar 30, 2007 8:22 pm UTC

Your favourite music video... (or the music video for your favourite song, if that's different)... or just a music video you think everybody should see before they die.

To prevent getting overwhelmed with one person's taste, here's a rule: only one video link per person per day.

I'll start off with Fat Freddy's Drop, a very cool Kiwi dub band. It's a very Kiwi music video, with a fish'n'chip shop and the presenters from channel 3 news and everything. And it has pretty girls.

One of my favorites from way back. Can't beat Dexter Holland hang-gliding into suburbia.

It's six in German, isn't it? Could be owjiad is alludin' to the "It goes to eleven" scene in Spinal Tap, except his personal rating scale is one-to-five. In that case, teh sechs would indicate it rates even higher than normal excellence.

I have odd taste in music.

I'll toss out Gary Young's Plantman. (There isn't a copy of this on YouTube, so you'll have to click the link under "Music Videos". Sorry about that.)

I can't tell if the man is pure genius or if it's the most idiotic song/video that I've ever encountered. It's something I saw on MTV at about 4am (probably the only time they'd ever air it), more than a decade ago. It's guaranteed to send me into a fit of giggles whenever I see it.

I'll come up with something a bit cooler tomorrow.

I love the song, but the video is just absolutely ridiculous.

I can't believe nobody's posted a Michel Gondry video yet. Everything he touches becomes a classic.

Daft Punk - Around the World

The song gets annoying about 3/4 of the way through, but the video is masterful.

The White Stripes - The Denial Twist

Their funniest video is 'Hey It's Your Funeral Momma' ... a black Wade? Craziness.

I am, and will forever be, a fan of bewildering parodies and covertunes.

I present to you: Alanis Morrisette - My Humps for your daily dose of WTF?!

To make up for that weirdness, I'll toss in one more. I think it's pretty awesome, and should be seen by everyone at least twice.

Imogen Heap - Just For Now (live)

Ah, the ironic rap cover. Where would we be without your dulcet tones and vaguely elitist sensibility?

Two more which, in my opinion, treat their subject with a little more respect than Alanis.

Jonathan Coulton - Baby Got Back

Matt Weddle - Hey Ya
