Whatever the hell U2 has out now, is horrible and nothing like the good stuff they used to put out. What happened? :(

Axis: Bold as Love is a pretty good album, but doesn't even come close to Are You Experienced? and Electric Ladyland for me. I sitll hear everyone I talk to say that it's they're favorite Hendrix album, though...meh.

Also, Mozart. There are plenty of other classical composers I think are much better--his music is just kind of boring.

Xczxcuzx Me is indeed so, on this album. I think I could only stand it mixed into something else at a club.

For the rest, it's vaguely reminiscent of various favourite computer game soundtracks. And that's nice.

Not heard the new album, but How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb is basically a harder rock retooling of their earlier stuff... hardly original but it's OK.

Feels, by Animal Collective. Actually, their entire catolog with the exception of Merriweather Post Pavillion confuses the shit out of me.

I could also never get Bright Eyes. First Day of My Life is a nice song, but almost everything else of his just makes me cringe (I think Lover I Don't Have To Love and Padraic My Prince must be two of the worst songs I've ever listened to).

Oh god, no! Merriweather is great, but Feels is such a fantastic album too. Give it a few more tries. It's beautiful. Sung Tongs too, even Here Comes the Indian. Oh and don't even get me started on the Water Curses EP.

I do not really get MGMT. They're alright I guess, just not that special. 6/10.

I saw them open for Of Montreal a few months before they exploded. I was not at all impressed. The only way I can describe it is that every song they played sounded like a cover. I was surprised to see them get so popular.

Miles Davis - A Kind of Blue

Sonic Youth have never clicked with me the slightest bit. This includes Daydream Nation. This is odd to me since I love noise/experimental and 80-90s alternative music. Just don't like them.

Darkthrone's Fuck off and Die. Black metal -> crust punk doesn't translate well in my mind.

Yeah this is what people keep telling me! I remain open-minded though and live with the hope it will one day grow on me. Because I really do love MPP.

Also there is just so much music I have to listen to lately that I haven't really had the chance to go back and give Feels another good few listens.

Same with their newest one. I don't even know what it's called but the chorus to "Do you know your enemy" gets stuck in my head everytime I watch tv because of a stupid commercial with it..

The thing that annoyed me most about Know Your Enemy was the intro drum riff, because it's probably one of the least original drum riffs ever. (It's almost the same riff from 1,000,000 by Nine Inch Nails, and I think there are other ones that sound the same too.) You can't really argue about drum riffs though because they're all unoriginal.

Agreed, Green Day has become rather mediocre not that they weren't really trailing there in the beginning anyway.

I dont get how someone could call American Idiot a great album. I got the album off of a friend and listened to it several times and I "lost it" and never went to go find it again.

It's absolutely just drab...

YAYY!!! I've been trying to say the last few Green Days were just lame musical equivalents to people wearing witty t-shirts, to prove how edgy they are. Unfortunately, whenever I say that I get verbally raped by people who absolutely love American Idiot. Ok, the first single was good (American Moron, I think it was called) but seriously, if every other song you put out makes it to my town's "Adult Music" radio station, you are not punk. You are not rock. You are not anything.

I can forgive American Idiot simply because it spawned this... but I also didn't realize people still listened to Green Day. I thought Dookie was the last album anyone bought.

I agree with Mozart. Sure its compositionally strong, and influential... but its boring to listen to! I also don't really get Kid A. I find it hard to hear much more than ambience and noise when I listen to it.

Well, I think I misspoke a little. I mean, I hear music plenty fine in Kid A, it just isn't interesting. It doesn't really FEEL like I am listening to music. Merzbow, as I have just learned, definitely just sounds like noise to me.

Noise rock is one genre that I just don't get, I don't know how people derive pleasure from it. Klaus Schulze however, sounds great to me. Another thing I don't like a lot of is jazz. Miles Davis' A Kind of Blue is the only jazz album i have been able to sit through and enjoy. The largest part of music I don't get is popular music, from country to rap to techno, and ever since Guitar Hero and Rock Band I have started to dislike more classic rock as well. The most popular and well known bands of today (1990 to present) that I like are Porcupine Tree, Radiohead, and The Mars Volta. I do try to get into as much music as I can though.

Nimrod wasn't half-bad. Which means it was barely half-good.

Bon Jovi is only good for ironic karaoke. (Those last two words are fun to say in repetition!) Damien Rice is a guilty pleasure, I'll admit - but it does have that "wannabe artist around a campfire who can barely play a guitar trying to get in an underage girl's pants" feel.

Don't knock Oasis, or Noel & Liam will fight over who gets to eat your head.

Also, all those LimpPuddleofStaindNickelLinkinSeetherfucks can go eat a tour-bus full of genital warts.

Heh. I remember I kind of liked that song when it came out. The rest of the album, though, not so much.

I agree with MGMT - I got the album because I liked a couple of the songs on it. But I must admit I can't really get into it.

Another band I've never really been able to get is the Red Hot Chilis. Yeah, a few good songs but generally ... well I think the first sentence from Wikipedia sums it up:

Wikipedia entry on RHCP wrote:Red Hot Chili Peppers is a five Grammy Award-winning American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983 and is widely considered the best band in history.

Widely considered the best band in history? WTF? No hint of bias there with Wikipedia then ;)
