Looking for Some New Bands/Artists

Postby cv4 » Wed Aug 04, 2010 11:40 pm UTC

So I am interested in finding some new artists that are in the area of what I listen to. I listen to all kinds of music, but some of the bands that get the most play are:

Phoenix
Metric
MGMT
Vampire Weekend
Fleet Foxes
The Decemberists
The Postal Service
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Belle & Sebastian

I realize it is a pretty eclectic mix, but I am into all kinds of stuff in these veins, so any recommendations you guys have would be great.

Already have Strokes, National, Neutral Milk Hotel, Broken Social Scene and Hawksley Workman. I'll check the other ones.

Add to that the XX, Arcade Fire, perhaps Kasabian.
Generation Y. I don't remember the First Gulf War, but do remember floppy disks.

Mumford & Sons
Fanfarlo
Grizzly Bear
and, I'm guessing, some Sufjan Stevens.

Those were based largely on the "Fleet Foxes" taste you've had.

Based off MGMT, you should check out Neon Indian and Tame Impala.

Actually, listen to The Mountain Goats, because they've got shitloads of albums and all of them are good.

Ea
Shape of Despair
Torture Wheel

They're all funeral doom metal bands, but they're all really good to listen to.

Yes, cause that fits in REALLY well with the music he said he likes to listen to. I'm not saying that he might be interested in both, but come now.

Not to mention that he didn't list My Dying Bride, which makes him an idiot anyway.
