La Belle Histoire d'Amour possibly?

you'd think, wouldn't you? but it wasn't that one. the one i'm thinking of probably wasn't a torch song. in fact it was almost light-hearted by her standards and it might have been, or been derived from, a folk song. it had a much more folk-music sound/structure/pace/theme. somehow i have the impression it was a narrative rather than just a 'mood', and that the narrative was about two people neither of whom (for a wonder) was her. i really thought it was mon legionnaire until i found out i was wrong. but i think it was that kind of story - girl, soldier, battle, etc. the chorus had a sort of upbeat marchy kind of rhythm. the first line of (the chorus) was a bit like the first lines of la brindisi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1ohegoq_IA, from la traviata. the same lift. man, i suck at trying to discuss music.

i don't mean to diss piaf, saying all that. i like her voice a whole lot. i guess torch just isn't really 'my' genre.

It sounds very similar to handlebars, it's a political song, the word 19XX is in the same place of the melody as "handlebars" is in handlebars.

Anyone think they can identify this one? Sorry, you're going to have to ignore the voiceover.

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/97682/identi ... -track.mp3

It's been used for years in Ten's F1 coverage, and it's also been used in SBS's coverage of the Tour de France - each time I've been able to get a reasonable clip of it, noone's been able to identify it.

It's Dakota by the Stereophonics.

It took me a while - I originally thought it was Coldplay, which it wasn't (duh). I knew I'd heard it before and then discovered it on the Best Driving Music CD in my stereo I was listening to this morning.

Mine should be easy - I know the artist and may know the song!

It's called something like ENG - Top calculator button and is definitely by The Doors.
I'd like to know the exact title and what album it was on - Google throws a blank as does Discogs.

WTF? Sorry, but that's not even close - It sounds nothing like Dakota. It's got about 6 notes of the main riff the same but with with completely different timing, but other than that there's nothing similar between the two.

Remember, Dakota was at the top of the UK charts in 2005.

God, you're right, sorry. It's a different tempo, different drumbeat, everything pretty much. I'll blame tiredness or something. Stupid thing is I think I have the song so I'll have to listen to everything until I find it now!

In 1999, I made a custom CD at a site called cductive (now eMusic). I still have the CD, but I lost the booklet a long time ago. There are three songs I want to find artists and titles for; I have a music show on a local television station, and I want to talk about at least one of them. I used a program called Tunatic to try to identify the songs by sound, but it can't find them, probably because they're pretty obscure and unknown techno songs. I uploaded them to Project Playlist, so you don't have to download them. (Because the CD is heavily scratched, I could only get 30 seconds of the first one; it pretty much goes like that for the rest of the song. :)

http://www.playlist.com/playlist/16300984331

Don't knock yourself out too much; you either know them or you don't. If noone here knows, I'll just ask somewhere else. Thanks for your help, regardless. :)

I have heard this song a lot and I still don't know what it is called.
It is the one that appears between 00:23 and 00:30
the "hey you over there" one

The song in the background or the hey you over there song itself? It's a mashup, so I'm not sure which you mean, i do recognize the song behind the rapping... can't recall the name right now. It's followed by Vampire Weekend with the guy still rapping.

Could someone tell me what is the name of the song playing in the background? I know it's hard to hear it, but still - someone could recognise it.
It's cut from TV Show Tru Calling, 1. Season, 10. Episode - Reunion.
I was looking everywhere, but couldn't find.
Thanks a lot.

Gah. It's a beer song. It's from old beer commercials:

Parties that never end
and those twins!

Actually, I just want to watch the NFL commercials on youtube.

EDIT: The Fail is strong with me. I found it.

The prechorus is one line 3 times. Sounds like 'I'm running', sung with a long 'u'... 'I'm ruuuning, I'm runnning, I'm ruuuuning, oh-oh'. From there it's the chorus, which in my head starts with the line 'If I don't feel better'.
The chorus sort of builds towards the last line of the chorus which climbs high and then drops for the last two notes.

My only hope is if someone already knows this song.

It's definitely from around the 80s.

I don't know if this has been solved already, but I think it's "Running" by Evermore. Although, it's a bit more recent than 80's.
One day, I'm going to come home and find you lying on the floor, twitching. I'll ask what's wrong and you'll say "It finished...he stopped updating...it's over..." and twitch again.

Believe me, Googling was my first thought. That forum thread is from a couple years ago, and there are other pages about other Equinox commercials. I'm asking about the new commercial.

hey guys
A couple of friends and I are planning a themed party: mobsters of the 30s/40s.

There's one particular track we're hunting down but I have no clue what the title is:
It opens heavy on trumpets, with a drum beat in the background and the trumpet sort of rises and falls, it's very fast paced...
That's such a bad description and not much to go on, but it's one of those songs you associate with the era, very popular.
And if you know of anything else that would suit such a shindig, chuck that in too please. :)

Edit: I've realised just how terribly useless that description will be after listening to some similar music of the time, this is quite frustrating.

Editx2: Ahh my friend found it: here for those of you that may have been interested.

I really don't think so. I could only find one instance of that being played orchestrated (by James Last) and I couldn't find a sound clip. But the song in the flash seems to not really have much in common with that song, aside from the key maybe. Thanks for trying though, this songs has been driving me nuts. been racking my brain!

I've got an earworm from a pretty well-known song (not a classic, but a modern pop-song), but I can't remember artist, title, or even fragments of the lyrics. What I do know is this:
The singer is a woman with a very 'mild' voice, and she sings somewhat high-pitched.
The song has a certain structure, namely there are always two verses, which are followed by her singing la-la-la-... in the same melody.
If this sentence makes no sense to you, why don't you just change a pig?

The attached song has always puzzled me. I've always wondered what it is as I've only ever heard it used on TV programs. As such, I recorded this clip of Total Wipeout grand final, so you'll have to ignore the sound effects and commentary. It's such a distinctive song, I'm sure (hope!) someone will know what it is.

It's Time To Pretend by MGMT. In my opinion the singles are pretty good but some of the album seems to just be filler. Worth a listen though.
