I'm re-reading Way of Kings with my hardback trying to decide if I want the next one in hardback or if i want to go the convenience route and get it on kindle.....and Im leaning toward hardback!

So bought the hardback.....I would have gladly paid double what I paid for it. Sanderson can write!

I read the first one, and was disappointed. I like Sanderson's writing, but this just seemed long winded and self indulgent. He had a dozen ideas for stories, and instead of writing one, he crammed all twelve into one book. And then it's going to be stretched out for nine more books, each 800+ pages. He needed an editor. It just hasn't grabbed me like other epic fantasy.

I re-read WoK and WoR, then Oathbringer. Well actually got Oathbringer from the library, read half of it, had to return it, then went and read the first two because I couldn't remember wtf was going on.

I enjoyed them more the second time around. I do think the books could use more editing. The final battle in Oathbringer just dragged. It had all this build up, but then needed to tie up like 20 plot points, and that takes a while. I think OB was the best in the series so far.

I got Oathbringer for Christmas, but
Spoiler:
the last few chapters felt kind of rushed to me. It also seemed like there was some sort of change in the way Shallan’s character was written that I didn’t really like (in those last few chapters).

Overall, I enjoyed it though. This series is good.

I also had to reread the two previous books to remember anything about what was going on. (And then the novella in Arcanum Unbound, since that was mentioned as useful reading in the preface...) ^_^ But it was worth it overall; I think I enjoyed the first two books much more this time around.

Shallan continues to be my favorite character.
