Yeah, it was graphic. But beyond the graphic parts, it wasn't terribly written. Was it? Or am I just remembering it wrongly? Because as far as 50 shades is concerned, the writing is so horrible it is like listening to nails scraping against a blackboard. Anything above that level would surely be a good alternative?

The first few books of the series were pretty interesting, and books are extremely well-researched (you could probably learn how to properly knap flint just from reading those books). The writing isn't stellar, but it isn't half-bad either, from my recollection. Unfortunately, about partway through the third book, she kind of runs out of ideas for the plot, and just starts repeating the same types of conflict over and over again: Meet new people, overcome their prejudice because heroine is amazing Mary Sue, leave with great honours, repeat. The last two books are... pretty dreadful. Though, to be fair, the author had a stroke partway through writing the fifth book.

Speaking of plots repeating: Sword of Truth anyone? Now that was pretty ridiculous.
One of these days.

IMHO, the problem with Sword of Truth (aside from the Objectivist preachy stuff) is that in almost every book, Kahlan, despite being pretty badass herself, ends up getting captured and Richard has to save her. In one book, just to mix things up, Richard gets captured and Kahlan has to save him (but he escapes first). I think maybe there's maybe one or two books where neither of the main characters ends up getting captured/rescued by the other--out of twelve or thirteen in the series.

How can I think my way out of the problem when the problem is the way I think?

Is this a joke? I want to think I can usually tell, but I seem to have run into Poe's law here.

Seeing other articles' names in that site like "Beckham accused of sleeping with wife" or "Clothes ban to combat obesity", I think this is a joke website.

That, and the links to other articles being separed between "More from the Mash" and "From proper websites"

I'm sure many of you read Fifty Shades of Grey. How about Fifty Shades of Takei?
