If shopkeep and barkeep are words*, then bookkeep should be one as well. This would allow for proper extension to the right as well.

* - and the forum's red underlining suggests barkeep is, but shopkeep isn't, at least for my American language choice

Wiktionary lists "bookkeep" as a verb, an alternate spelling of "book-keep," meaning to keep books as an accountant. I can't find a dictionary listing it as a noun analogous to "barkeep," but that doesn't necessarily mean the noun doesn't exist.
