what's the meaning of this latin expression?

Postby alessandro95 » Thu May 08, 2014 3:01 pm UTC

I was reading Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius (pdf) by Jorge Luis Borges, when I found the latin expression ex ungue leonem (at the end of the fifth page in the pdf I linked), what does it mean, considering the context?

leonum is in the accusative which means there is an implied verb that you have to guess or just know.

It's sorta annoying when latin expressions are like this but its the nature of the language.

Pirate.Bondage: Let's get married. Right now.
