English to norwegian translation - Help wanted!

Hi all!

I'm in the middle of writing a short scifi story in Norwegian (nynorsk ofc.), and since my english is impeccable I came here to gloat with my incredible translation skills.

Wait, no. That's not how you ask for help. Is it?

If anyone here happens to speak Norwegian I'd love to get ideas for different translations for English words I don't feel are accurately translated to Norwegian (ie. they don't sound good). I'm expecting immense breakthroughs here, as this is the capital hub of the intelligenzia and creative people on teh intrablurgs ;P

Why 'of' course would it be in Nynorsk?

Is "artificial neurological network" even a sensible phrase in English? I'm only aware of the term "(artificial) neural network".

I don't think most of these words exist in Norwegian, so you would have to re-invent them. Here a few suggestions:

wetware - "bløtvare" or maybe "blautvare", which sounds more nynorsk to me, although I don't know much nynorsk
artificial neurological system - "kunstig nervesystem"
neurocomputer - "nevro-data(maskin)", "datahjerne" (="data brain")
tabletop fusion - "kald fusjon"
bubble fusion - "sonofusjon", "boblefusjon"
haptic - "følsom", "føle-" "berør-". Maybe there is a word called "haptisk", but I've never heard it (I'm not Norwegian anyway...).


I suppose you are a native speaker (?), so actually you should know better than me. Only native speakers have the ability to decide what sounds "natural" or "weird", so I leave that to you.

yes, why 'of course'? (genuinely wondering since I'm learning bokmål at the moment)

I'd think it is because nynorsk is prettier Although that is a subjective matter, I have to say I agree.
Bokmål is still my main written language though, but that's just because it's the first thing I learned.

Aha. As a language learner, i find bokmål to be more useful for a number of reasons - number of publications written in it, the people i'm learning from use it and I'm effectively learning to read danish at the same time. (it's also got more cognates with English, at least in my experience)
