I remember that an orange cat used to advertise Pepsi as Sonic the Hedgehog's side-kick between the games Sonic 1 & 2 for the megadrive/genesis.
i tried googling it but i only got porn of it and not the original commercial.
i still can't find the original but only by searching on japanese websites can i find anything about the commercial or the character.
there are some things the internet doesn't have.

Part of your problem may be that it was most likely a fox not a cat. (I haven't actually tried looking for the commercial though)

Re: The Ungoogleable
it was a cat, i know tails very well and it wasn't him
the cat was actually called Pepsi Cat
it's a play on words in Japanese since Pepsi is pronounced Peppusi
so it's Pe-pussy cat in japanese pronunciation
(like the english 'pussy cat')

That's not entirely true - the cat is mentioned on a 2010 blog by someone calld "Jay'98".

Re: The Ungoogleable
There was an electronic/techno musician I found by accident on youtube. The name of the artist is simply "She". To find stuff about her, I had to find her again on youtube going through the same links that led me to her and then memorize an unusual song title by her. I had tried googling "she musician" or "she electronic/electronica/techno/music/band" but I got results for each individual word I paired it with that contained the personal pronound "she". It was very frustrating lol. I also used to have trouble finding clips of House on youtube, before they started referring to the show as "House: M.D."

Oh, play it in any line, with any key, at any tempo, and anybody that has heard the song can recognize it. It's like playing the Mario tune out of tune with wrong tapping, it's still easily recognizable.
Anyway, gotta try those links that people posted for tune finding. I don't have a microphone but I guess I can make a midi that sounds like the parts I remember of the song and feed it into it or something.
Also, something that I had found to be ungoogleable:
Fonts.
You have this very nice pic posted on the internet, and it uses a font that it turns out you REALLY want to have. What do you do? Well, you feed it to:
http://www.whatfontis.com/
Of course.
But, what happens if it doesn't match any of the ones it recommends as possible matches?
You post the pic on their forum so people help you out.
But, what happens when people don't know the font either or can't help you?
You're out of luck.
Yeah, recently I couldn't use Google to find two fonts that I really liked, and had to spend 4 days in total, looking at several font sites looking at similar looking fonts, one after the other, until finally I could find them.
They turned out to be:
Felt Tip
Wild Words Lower
And just because it took me so long, was so hard, and in the way to it I looked at hundreds of similar looking or similar purpose fonts, I can say, that these are the best handwritten looking font, and the best looking comic font, ever, respectively.

But try Googling for them (I mean, without knowing what to look for), they don't appear on the pages of the best handwritten fonts, nor they appear on the best recommended for comics, and most sites with a "handwritten" and "comic" sections didn't have them. I basically had to find them thanks to serendipity, specially Wild Words Lower that I found just because the makers of it had another font with a similar looking uppercase D, so I went to check their other fonts.
But at last I can rest, at least until the day I look at a script font that I feel the need to have and spend another two days looking for it or something.
Re: The Ungoogleable
Even if you're relatively sure of the notes and key, that doesn't necessarily help. This is a song I've had stuck in my head for ages, and I've tried every "hum into your computer and it'll tell you the song" software I can find. I tried playing the "piano" on my computer keyboard just in case it was my terrible humming. I have played the piano for a number of years, so I figured out what the notes were (could be in a different key but each note is accurate relevant to the rest) and scripted it. Tried googling that. I know no lyrics, so that won't help. I don't know who the band were either, it's just a really catchy tune. If anyone is more talented than I am at "the google" I'd be interested in knowing your next step. My only clues are this image of the music I scripted (badly, the timing is only a basic representation), and also that I live in New Zealand and I'm fairly the song must have been fairly popular here within the last couple of years. That's not to say it's a New Zealand artist though. The notes are played kinda electronic-brass-ey. I could imagine it being a trumpet but I can also imagine it being entirely digital.

I remember the first was a beehive, then there was a sewer, then a jungle stage. I can't find any evidence of the game ever even having existed, which drives me insane haha.
