I AM SADNESS!!!

I got a Raspberry Pi.
Within a hour of finally getting it connected and configured, I bricked it.

Ah well, I still have plenty of graduation money and all the stuff that came in the kit, so I think I will just order 2 of the cheaper versions this time.

I too am curious. How did you brick it? If you tell us more, perhaps we can help, or at least I might be able to avoid your mistake.

In any case, you have my sympathy.

I was using this terminal cable to connect it to my computer, and then I wondered if the terminal would still work if I connected through the breakout board.
I put all the wires in on the wrong side of the board so that the 5v power supply went into the ground.

Oops! I think I accidentally shorted +5 and ground on my raspberry pi once, but I got lucky and there didn't seem to be any damage. Better luck next time.

Are you sure you didnt short the power supply? did you try a new usb mini cable + different power supply/port ?

Yes I did at one point have power supplied by two sources for about a second, but the problems did not appear untuil well after that. Anyway, the point is moot as I got 2 more Pis and a proper cable this time.
Now I am having trouble using the GPIO ports to control leds. I think the problem is that I am misunderstanding the numbering system.
