HDX Upgrade - motherboard + UAD questions

Hi gang,

I'm upgrading my old TDM HD1 rig to an HDX 64 bit.

I have:
Gigabyte X79-UD3 8 Gb DDR3
UAD PCIe
Xeon E5 8 core 1620 3.60
Avid approved nVidia GPU
Windows 7 64
Avid Mic Pre, RME, Focusrite Mic Pres
HD I/O x 2
Command 8

Will this existing MB handle the HDX? I'm looking at a Gigabyte X99 UD4
and DDR4 ram if it won't. I will keep the Xeon and GPU. Suggestions?

Will I be forced to change to Win 10? My existing license will get me to PT 11 HD.

Oh, and I will absolutely add more RAM if the X79 card will be kept.

Thanks!!

I'd recommend asking in an audio specific board, I had a lot of trouble unpacking the question.

It *should* be compatible. It all comes down to how much Aavid wants to support the thing. I'm convinced audio should be done on a GPU (of course they are 32 bit float only, but the CPU could presumably do the mixing in 64 bit), but will admit that lag might not be good for live performances.

Don't expect to use that CPU on a DDR4 motherboard. I know it is listed on the "CPU compatibility", but as far as I know the memory bus is still controlled by the CPU: it isn't likely to like the "wrong" memory (this may be solved with buffering thanks to the huge sizes Xeons require, but I'd be wary of trying to match the "wrong" memory.
