new Nvidia cards and Video Overlay.

Postby |Erasmus| » Wed Mar 12, 2008 11:05 pm UTC

I looked into this a while ago and couldn't find much of use.

The problem being that when I upgraded to an 8800GTS from my old crappy 6300 video card, the new nvidia control panel won't let you change video overlay settings. Now, I have no idea why the designed to change this, and it doesn't make sense to me, but I'd like to know if anyone knows of any (possibly third party) way of setting this up.

We recently acquired a giant novelty full hd lcd television, and I'd really like to get video overlay working properly between the pc and the tv. any ideas?

I think video overlays are phased out of newer cards. I'd imagine there's something else to take its place.

A quick search says to try this instead:

Enabling video overlay on GeForce 8800 series cards -

Go to Control Panel - NVIDIA - nView Desktop Manager
If the Desktop Manager is not enabled, click Enable
Click tab labeled 'Zoom'.
Click button labeled 'Full Screen Video Zoom'
Under Full Screen Device pulldown menu, click 'Auto-Select'
If needed, proper overlay color settings Cineform has come up with for GeForce cards can be changed here with the 'Color Correction' button next to this.
Hit OK, hit OK, enjoy!
