I see dead computers...

Postby english_petal » Sat Apr 26, 2008 9:51 pm UTC

Hey fellow xkcd-ians.

Do any of you have, or know of anyone with a dead computer? An old, broken circuit board? A keyboard missing a few keys?

I want to recycle them into something new, and exciting, but don't know where i could get hold of them lol.

Any suggestions?

I have the following:
2x broken mother boards
3x old power supplies (1 definately broken, 1 too small for practical use, 1 MAY work decently fine)
2 or 3 broken harddrives
1 DELL case that is ready to be scrapped

You would have to pay for shipping though. I live in the USA. I have been wanting to do something with these old parts, but they are just taking up space. What were you planning on making with the parts?

I have both big circuitboards from as iMac G3, as well as the mouse, keyboard and speakers.
--would be happy to send them, provided you pay shipping. (I live in New Mexico, US)

I'm planning on making jewellery with them...
... more details on this will be forthcoming when I actually see if it will work xP

I will get some pictures of everything I have sometime this weekend and put them up, you can call what you want. No sense in adding shipping weight for stuff you do not want.

We are looking at about 25-35$ US. At least I think this is accurate...
You may want to go talk to some computer repair stores and ask them about stuff they are about to throw out.

Put up ads around your neighbourhood advertising a free/cheap computer removal service. If they people think that you are doing them a service, they'll be more likely to agree.
