Re: What do you order at Subway?
I can remember when Blimpie was more predominant than Subway. Nowadays you will hardly find a Blimpie, but Subway has become another Starbucks, with one on just about every corner.
Here's a Subway hack: ask for the "boat cut". Instead of slicing the bread along the side, you take a chunk out of the top, making it look like a boat. This is how Subway used to cut their breads. Why they stopped, I don't know. The meats and toppings seemed to stay in the bread better with the boat cut. Some sandwich artists will know it; some won't. If I'm not mistaken, they're not supposed to do it that way, unless asked. I don't think many ask for it, because they don't know what it's called, or don't remember it being done like that.

Re: What do you order at Subway?
Usually the spicy italian (also in rotation are Italian BMT, buffalo chicken, teriyaki chicken and decreasingly steak and cheese). Always toasted. Always provolone. Always lettuce/onion/green pepper/mayo/salt/pepper. Sometimes jalapeno/cucumber. Any bread except wheat.
Every time I go in, the $5 footlong list seems smaller. When it's anything interesting, I've been charged full price for the featured sandwich. Probably why I haven't been eaten there in a good while.

Footlong Buffalo Chicken with Swiss cheese (though some places have started swapping out Swiss for pepperjack, which I am comfortable with) on Italian bread, toasted, with black olives, a shit-ton of spinach, and extra buffalo sauce.

When on a road trip, and there's nothing else near the gas station except burger king or McD, then subway it is.
Spicy Italian with provolone on italian herb and cheese bread, toasted, with the works, yes I mean jalapenos too (why isn't this included when I say "put everything on it?"). Deli mustard instead of yellow, with just a little sweet onion sauce. Yummy.

Usually I get the tuna, the Subway melt or the chicken bacon ranch. Always with spinach and jalapeños.

Footlong, whatever bread I fancy on the day, chicken tikka, spicy cheese, toasted, green peppers, tomatoes, onions, more onions, a small amount of both southwest and chilli sauces.

Foot-long meatball sub on wheat with spinach and mustard. Yeah that's right, mustard. Other people think it's a gross combination, but I love it.

Re: What do you order at Subway?
You can make bbq sauce using mustard. Mustard in a marinara sauce with meatballs would be a nice compliment to the sweetness of the tomato, I feel.
I may try that.

Re: What do you order at Subway?
Any time I go to a restaurant, I always pick two things from the menu that I'd eat because so often I'm told that they're "all out" of my first choice, or they can't do it for whatever reason. I like to have a backup plan. When I go to Subway, I choose whatever sounds good at the moment, but my backup sandwich is always a foot-long meatball on honey oat (not toasted) with pepper jack cheese, light lettuce, onions, bell peppers, olives, vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper.

Sweet onion teriyaki chicken. Every single time

Re: What do you order at Subway?
Turkey on wheat, no cheese, all the veggies, except maybe the jalapeños. Sometimes mustard, or dry. Unfortunately, they don't tend to have whole wheat bread (I've only seen one Subway with it), so I'm not willing to eat there any more. They need to get decent bread.
Re: What do you order at Subway?
My wife always has me order the same thing for her: Italian BMT on flat bread with pepper jack, light lettuce, tomato, cucumber, black olives, banana peppers extra pickles, and chipotle sauce. She's pregnant again, and if I didn't know before, I certainly would have been able to guess after she asked for her usual, but with tuna added.

Eeeewwww. Pregnancy is so weird. When I was pregnant I ate a peanut butter and pickle sandwich. And it was good. And I hate pickles.

Re: What do you order at Subway?
My vegetarian wife's pregnancy-food of choice was "Onion rings and poutine from A&W, and it has to be from A&W because they have the really salty beef gravy". She hates beef, and especially hates over-salted food. Apparently her body knew that she was giving birth to CARNIVOROUS DOOMBABBIES.
