*sob* I wish I could still eat hot and sour soup. *sob*

That said, I did just come up with a tasty (hypoallergenic) combo of things that is happy-making. Black olives, feta cubes, yam bits, spinach bits, broccoli and green onion bits, in fact just a whole lot of bits all mixed together, wrapped in a multigrain tortilla, nuked for a minute or two. Nom. Nomnomnomnomnom.

Hmm, I should try a pic of the bags-o-bits (well, individual-serving-size-containers-of-bits)...

Y'know, I was pretty disappointed when I had my first (and only) pomegranate. My mumsy had a pomegranate-scented air freshener once, and I found the gustatory qualities of the actual fruit much less pleasing. Also they are a lot of work.

That's strange to me. Pomegranates are almost my favorite fruit. They can be handled easily enough if you just open them up in some water, as the seeds sink to the bottom.

It's also quite marvelous as a tea flavor.

I like pomegranates, though I'm probably allergic to the things now. It's a nice, berry-type of flavour, like a cross between eating watermelon and sweet cranberries, maybe. Whenever I've eaten one, I usually started out chewing the juice off of the seeds before spitting them out. After a while, I mostly reverted to swallowing the damn things. Sort of the same thing I'd go through with watermelon (to which I'm also now allergic  ).

I wish I could try some of the pomegranate juice, and pomegranate-with-other-things juice, that I've started seeing around in the last few years. Can anyone tell me if it's as tasty as it should be?

I remember trying a pomegranate-and-other-thing juice (I think it was pomegranate lemonade) a few months ago. I wasn't terribly impressed. I think the mechanics of eating a pomegranate are part of the appeal. Also, I find that a lot of bottled fruit juices are just not as flavorful as the corresponding fruit; this hits some fruits harder than others.

I'm very fond of pomegranate-blackberry tea and of the standard pomegranate juice that's been popular lately. It is a bit bitter and strong, though. Cranberry juice is the most accurate comparison I can make for it, which I also like but I know many people who don't. I suppose it's really a love-it-or-hate-it thing.

Decided to try capturing the deliciousness that is Mario's pistachio ice cream. Unfortunately, it was too cold to scoop into nice little balls (and I don't have a ball-scooping-thing). I also didn't want very much, since this stuff sends my blood sugar on a rocket ride through Loop Land.

I love that dish set. It's probably 50 years old. When I get home I'll check the bottom -- I think it's made by Ridgeway, the "Scenes of Early Canada" design. It's totally cool. It includes some unusual dish sizes, too, like that one (a small, bowl-like thing closer to what one would now use for soy sauce).

Wait, I got Google... *surfsurfsurf* Ah, Ridgway by Staffordshire, probably made in 1967 but using an older method of pattern transfer or some such. Here's a (probably not long-lasting) link to some pics of the set. It's neat stuff. (Thanks, Grandma. Hope Heaven is nice. :D )
