18-25 yo males, please look here.

Postby MHD » Fri Apr 17, 2009 8:27 am UTC

I am making a survey for a school project and I need a little information on eating habits

If you are 18-25 years old, male and are not living with your parents please tell the following:

- What you ate for dinner yesterday
- When was the last time you ate junkfood
- When was the last time yo ate a "proper" meal

I'm 26 if that helps? I dunno. Anyway, I had "shakshuka" which is basically eggs sunny side up cooked on top of tomatoes, with humus and some bread. The day before it was home made risotto, if that helps. I don't eat junk food. I have proper meals all the time.

It's perfectly ok.

I live with my parents, but they are away this week, so I guess it sort of counts?

I ate penne with 3 cheese sauce at an italian restaurant with about 13 other people from this fora...

I can't remember the last time I ate 'junk' food. I think it was in week 1 of this semester when I left work really late to get to my lecture, and had Oporto for dinner, so that would have been 6 weeks ago.

The last 'proper' meal I had was about 6 hours ago at a nice little japanese place. At the ridiculous time of about 4:30pm, given that it was the only break I had between 12 and 9pm it was a sort of late lunch/early dinner.

Well, I turned 26 on Monday, but I'll still roll with this:
MHD wrote:- What you ate for dinner yesterday
- When was the last time you ate junkfood

- I had a veggie burger and pasta with alfredo sauce.
- I had a brownie yesterday, does that count?
- Last night for dinner, although if you ask me in the afternoon it'll probably be lunch today.

Are you running with any particular definition of "proper meal"? KF

For dinner I made some guacamole and sorrel soup.
I'm not sure what proper meal would be, but the day beofre before my gf made this thing with some nettle (which I gathered on Sunday's caving expetdition. I love the stuff.) and other fresh stuff and rice.
I don't know when the last time I had junk food was. It must have been this year, and it was probably some street vendor arab-style thing, probably суджу*. Or something from Subway.
* I have no idea what it's called in other languages. Possibly something Arab street vendors made up here in Bulgaria. Google and Wikipedia are of no help. It's mainly spicy fried ground beef.
EDIT: The last one was two curry sticks from the Dutch bakery last week. Hm, is that junk food?

I'll speak for my boy. He's 23.

Yesterday, he had ribs and shrimp. Ummm...I think he had a candy bar yesterday afternoon...and he had cereal this morning (if cereal doesn't count as a proper meal, then it'd be dinner last night.)

Tortillini w/vodka sauce, kitchen sink salad and a lot of jack and coke.
I had a bag of chips with lunch today, but don't really snack on junkfood while idling.

Last proper meal was lunch (about 15 minutes ago) of beef stew.

24. Last night I made three pizzas. How do you define junk food? I don't know when the last time was I ate junk food. Dessert doesn't count as junk food, does it? There's nothing wrong with dessert. Last night was a proper meal.

20.
Last night I made rice risotto, or however it is spelled. I ate a bunch of junk food the monday following Easter. And I think Rice risotto counts as a "proper meal" so... last night.

22. Dinner yesterday was a simple kidney bean stew with bread. I'd call it a proper meal.

Last junk food was that bratwurst I had for lunch.

Hi!
I'mz twenty.
I live on a college campus which provides unlimited meals buffet style, wit a large array of choices.
Yesterday I had supper at 10:55 (I waited till the last minute, see) and had steak O'brien, I think . ..steak tips and potatoes and sauce, I think. Also, I had a chicken patty, and marshmallow mateys (which are basically lucky charms) with 2% milk.

Every night I stay up till at least 4AM, I go to the ve3nding machine and get a $1 bag of cheetos. I last did this about two days ago. I do this relatively often.

My last "proper" meal I think ended about half an hour ago (it is 10PM now). I had nachos. They weren't so good. Also, a congo bar and chocolate milk.

Well I'm 22.
Salad, Isrealiean Couscous, Chicken parmasian, St peters's fish, roast beef, cake, a few different appetizers, bread. At least I think that's it.

I had a donnut this morning, last night I had cake and the night before that I had brownie cookies.

I think last night counted.

23; Last night I had a loaf of wheat bread (baked it myself!), some butter, and some of those little mozzarella balls soaked in olive oil and various herbs.

Junk food is kind of vague. I had some donuts earlier tonight; I had a burger and fries a few days ago (couldn't say exactly when), and I've been eating leftover pizza for the last few days.

Proper meal is even more vague. I had steak and potatoes tonight, but it wasn't really mealish- I ate it more or less as I cooked it. I had a bitchin' bacon-and-pancakes breakfast a few days ago- does that count?

19.

Last night, I had some sauted zuchinni, brown rice and soy sauce, and snacked on some cheese before that (the grocery stores close early on sunday, and it's what was in the apartment). Around 5 hours ago, at noon, I had a "proper meal". As for junk food, my roommate made some french fries last night, and I had one or two. If your talking about having a non-trivial amount of junk food, then sometime last week, 4 or 5 days ago.

Last night I had a chicken breast that I fried up and a couple glasses of milk. It wasn't a whole lot, but I had a big lunch that day which would probably count my last 'proper' meal (I'm not exactly sure what that entails) which was a big beef burro and rice and beans from a nice Mexican restaurant. As for junk food, I'm eating Easter themed M&M's right now. Gotta love those post holiday candy sales.

Edit: I'm male and 23 btw and don't live with my parents.

- Yesterday I was in an experimental mood, and I made porridge for dinner. To be honest, calling it "porridge" is probably stretching the definition past the point of breaking: I used grain flour rather than oats, while it cooked in the milk I sauteed green onions and ginger with cumin, chili, pepper and coriander, then I mixed everything up and cooked it for a few more minutes.

It was surprisingly good .

- Two days ago I had some French fries.

- If yesterday counts, then yesterday; otherwise, three days ago - I had minestrone and salad.

My roommate (male, 20, doesn't live with his parents) has been on a bus for the last twelve hours, so I'll pretend the question was asked yesterday.
He had a homemade zuppa toscana (creamy soup with Italian sausage, potatoes, and kale) for dinner.
The last time he had junk food was the same day - chips and salsa, some candy fruit snacks, a bowl of sugary cereal.
The last time he'd had a proper meal (with at least one main course, one side dish, and a drink) was the night before. Something involving potatoes and chicken, I think, I wasn't there at the time.

23 yrs old here

For dinner yesterday I had my mum's homemade spaghetti bolognese, with LOTS of bread (I have bread with everything)

Last time I ate junkfood was at the weekend. Had chinese chicken curry with fried rice and a portion of chips.
Ok that's not really junk food, but the same day I also had a microwave curry with mayonnaise mixed in (and loads of bread).

Last time I ate a proper meal was, I suppose, yesterday (Spag-bol). My mother always feeds me good, healthy, square meals.

I have a microwave meal every night before bed. I sleep easier with a full stomach.

18, still living with parents, so here's what I was eating when they went away and left me to my own devices:

- Beef, bacon hotpot/casserole with cheesy potato dumplings
- I think I had fish and chips for lunch once a week, so two days?
- If a proper homecooked meal doesn't count and you're after full three/four course meal, then probably Christmas.

I need both of these fascinating sounding things explained to me.

Vodka sauce is a pink sauce (i.e., uses both tomato and cream rather than one or the other) which purportedly uses vodka as a cheap way of releasing certain flavors that are alcohol-soluble, though the vodka itself doesn't impart a flavor and most of its alcohol boils off during the cooking. It's tasty and fairly flexible, though some people believe it's a gimmick. There's a thread full of disagreement here if you're interested.

"Kitchen sink salad" refers to the (apparently American?) phrase "everything but the kitchen sink" which means you're using a great number of ingredients; often connotes a haphazard arrangement of whatever's on hand, but could be very carefully planned out as well.

I had a steak and some homemade tortillas (the result of an adventure I hope to finish and post about tomorrow) for dinner last night.

I last ate junkfood last friday, I went to Steak 'n Shake with some friends after a lan party (a poor decision in the the food was terrible and the service worse, a good decision in that I met some new people and had a good time) Before that though I dunno, I had some junk-ish food the week before, but nothing I would unambiguosly describe as Junk Food for a while before, I mostly cook my own meals

I last ate a 'Proper meal' yesterday, I made a turkey sandwich with tomatoes and Irish Cheddar cheese, with chips and a pickle spear on the side and orange juice to drink (this is a pretty typical meal for me, though the specifics vary, others would include 'fridge pasta' is which I put a bit of everything I have in my fridge that looks like it would go good in pasta, and Mexican meal, for which I make some home made salsa and create tacos out of whatever combination of meats cheeses and other foods I have available)

Last time I ate junkfood was today. Three hours ago.
As for proper meal? A day ago, went out to a restaurant, by myself, got myself a nice meal. Very relaxing.

22 years old

Dinner yesterday consisted of 4x boneless skinless chicken tenderloins with a little bit of seasoning made for chicken, on the Foreman, 1/2 cup of whole wheat pasta, 2 cups of baby spinach with medium salsa as the dressing, and water

I had some junk food on 5/2/09, 5 bite size Hershey chocolate bars, 210 calories total.

Last proper meal was dinner last night.

I'm 22.

1. I ate pizza yesterday. A cheap bung-in-the-oven pizza from Lidl. It was approximately edible. There was also beer.
2. This morning. 2 sausages in a bun from the canteen.
3. Last week when I miraculously managed to cook a spag. bol. on my oven's electric hobs (I'm accustomed to cooking on gas).

Yeah, my eating habits are terrible at the moment. I blame my oven - I loathe electric ovens with every fibre of my being. When I had gas, I was cooking proper meals every day.

Edit: might I suggest that posting your questionnaire here might not yield balanced results? I imagine most people browsing this forum have an interest in food, and will be less likely to eat junk food than someone who doesn't. It's be interesting to compare results if you posted this in the general forum.

Any tips on making the stuff? My shakshukah always seems to come out a little bit... wrong. Either too much like raw tomatoes or too spicy.

Anyway, to answer the survey... I'm 20. My last meal consisted of: a pastrami sandwich with hummus on the bread, some tabouli salad with three calamata olives on it, an orange, and a cup of pomegranate juice. Oh, and a couple of hours later I had a glass of milk so my stomach would stop growling at me for more food.

Last time I had junkfood was yesterday, when I ate a bag of M&Ms for dessert due to it being the day before going shopping (I lack a car and my bike got stolen). I justified it to myself on grounds of having eaten nothing but a turkey sandwich and a burrito all day. It was a small turkey sandwich.

I'd judge that my dinner tonight was a proper meal. It contained all the major groups I can eat together: whole grains, vegetables, meat, and whatever the hell olives count as (I call them "tasty calories"). In the coming couple of days I look forwards to really cooking some solid stuff.
