Time to get confrontational about peanut butter

Apparently, people like to eat.

Having actually been in a peanut butter fight I can definitively say that chunky kicks creamy's ass.

Both are a bitch to wash out of your hair (being extremely water repellent), but chunky can be downright painful when the bits and pieces find their way to sensitive areas.

So, if you're going into battle, take the chunky.

I'd just take the jar.

And as my first post in this thread, chunky FTW, but Nutella is better.

I would like to have some details on this peanut butter fight, please.

Also, chunky wins, hands down. And from what I hear, Nutella is yuck.

You hear wrong. It's hazelnut-and-chocolate butter. How can that *not* be good?

Well Rachel, it all started (like this thread) with a civil enough discussion about which version was better. This was followed by a taste-off, which then dissolved into an all out smear fest. Fortunately I was well prepared with my chunky while she was armed only with creamy.

By the end we were both just disgusting and my room was trashed. Just try extracting peanut butter from your carpet or sheets. I wish I could claim we were other than platonic and this led to wild peanut butter covered sex (2 great tastes that taste great together?Hmmm. Doubt it.), but no such luck.

So I can't offer a first person account as to just how uncomfortable chunky is, but I'm inclined to take her word for it.

I, after months of getting used to it (there's a word for that that begins with a, but it escapes me. one LE4dPOINT for the person who finds it for me), actually prefered Sainsbury's Own chocolate spread to Nutella.

Cadbury's is Yuck

acclimated?

I was looking for the Nutella at our nearby Friendly Neighborhood Wal-Mart, and also saw something else. The brand escapes me, but the labels looked very similar to the containers used for Ben & Jerry's ice cream (Half-Baked = major win). One was chocolate & peanut butter mixed together. I thought that might taste like a Reese's peanut butter cup.

No, I didn't buy that. I did buy a jar of Nutella. Big thanks to all who recommended it. It is very full of win. I don't care much for whole grain breads, but I plan on trying it on a few Nilla Wafers. My dad used to always put a dab of peanut butter on them. I know this will be 100 times better.

Now...as to whether or not mixing Nutella with peanut butter tastes like eating a Reese's peanut butter cup? Survey says: yes. It takes a little bit of experimentation tho...have to get the proportions just right. I just tried it, but I think I did more peanut butter than Nutella. I'd say the proportions would have to be 1 part peanut butter, 2 parts Nutella. Other than that, yes Virginia, mixing the two does taste like a Reese cup on a sammich.

Creamy. Anything with 'butter' in the name should NOT crunch.

You've reminded me of a spread I saw a while back, haven't been out to find it in ages but it was like nutella and a hazelnut creme swirled together, and that stuff was TASTY.

Creamy. Chunky does unpleasant things to my teeth, and is harder to spread.
I love nutella but it's not vegan.
I like nut butters in general -
cashew, toasted sesame, hazelnut, walnut, sunflower, macadamia, almond.
soy butter is ok but not as good as the others.

I met some hippies once who have a nut butter factory on their commune.

I do not understand the level of insanity/retardedness in this thread.

Chunky. Forever.

Even when I don't have teeth and have to be fed through a straw, feed chunky peanut butter into the straw.

Honey wheat bread needs Nutella. Once this happens there is perfect harmony. Seriously. One of the best things to add to the quick breakfast arsenal ever.

I'm neutral on the peanut butter. Different ones are for different uses. If the peanut butter's on its own atop bread, chunky. If there will also be jelly, creamy. My mom nowadays gets organic creamy and it's actually really really tasty. You can nearly taste the nuttiness. I grew up on normal chunky and it still brings back memories.

I used to be on the creamy side, but then realized my roommates who ate my peanut butter didn't like crunchy. So I switched to crunchy and have been loving it since.

Chunky! Ultra Chunky!

My favorite peanut butter comes from the co-op. They have a peanut butter machine that consists of a hopper of unsalted roasted peanuts and a grinder with a creamy-chunky dial. Best. Peanut. Butter. Ever.

No, I'm just saying that those two words don't belong together.

I never make peanut butter, I hate the texture, I'd never make (or eat) anything like it.

depends on my mood. i try to go with "natural" which always seems to be a bit thicker and gritty (ground peanuts, yay!) so i guess its a halfway between chunk and smooth.

on bananas, smooth. its just a nice mooshy food combo. sometimes w/ honey. nomnom.

Creamy. But not like...skippy. Organic, non-hydrogenated and all that jazz. Placed on sprouted flax bread and accompanied by bananas. I may be a hippy.

You gotta go for EXTREME Chunky. You open the jar, and it's just peanuts.

I myself go for creamy, partially because I have a spreading disorder. This is also the reason I am forced to use margerine or whipped butter, as opposed to a stuck of regular butter. I try to spread the stuff and just end up putting a big hole in my bread.
