What did you eat for lunch today?

Anyone eat anything interesting for lunch? I had homemade bread, cantaloupe soup, and some cheese today.

Had a jumbo pork BBQ sandwich, seasoned potato wedges, brownie bites, and sweet tea at a local BBQ restaurant.

On Sundays to Wednesdays I eat food I bring from home (usually I make something on Friday and freeze a whole bunch, then each week I have different things to choose from) and on Thursday I eat out, to celebrate the end of the week! Today I had some whole grain rice and dahl, along with (as usual) a small salad.

I had a quarter of a medium sized bag of pop chips and half of a box of white cheddar cheezit'z. washed down with a Mt. Dew code red (can) and a Mello Yello (can).

Leftover Thai red chicken curry on rice. It was my first time making red curry paste from scratch, although I've made green curry pastes many times. It was tasty, but next time I'll use a little more garlic and ginger than I used. (Yes, I know galangal is more "authentic".) I also thought the colour was a little off and it was more a light brown than red.

I don't know if making Thai curry pastes is worth it from a pure taste or economical point of view rather than buying high quality pre-made ones, but I enjoy making them, and I have a good food processor so I'm pretty efficient. I also then at least know what's in them, and the leftover paste keeps for a couple of weeks.

Got a friend who swears by making his own. I tend to use the ones in a can. If you like the results, then a well made preparation is fine. If you notice ingredients you don't like, then at least they don't take long. And if you can get the laundry list of ingredients easily it's just a lot of measuring and mixing.

Today at work we had our annual Low Country Boil. Two employees from our satellite office in Brunswick, GA drove up to our main office and cooked LOTS of food. The day started off with grilled brats for breakfast, boiled peanuts for snacking, then the Boil, along with tons of desserts. Brought home three gallon-sized Ziploc bags full of leftovers. Mom and I enjoyed some leftovers for supper. Still have lots for lunch tomorrow.

It is one of the few things I look forward to every year, and was quite disappointed when they didn't do one last year or the year before. Missed out on the one three years ago, since I was at one of the satellite offices, and we weren't notified of when it was taking place.

Cup of curried shrimp bisque, little cup of pecans, walnuts and dried apricots, big cup of veggies (baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, pea pods, celery with peanut butter), little cup of cottage cheese.

Bakemaster packs my lunch every morning. I am spoiled.

Today was unexpected free food day, so: grilled veggies (mostly zucchini and peppers), steamed snow peas, tofu with mango skewers and then a lemon poppyseed muffin. Free food days are usually good but oddly assorted.

Only problem is it hasn't taken long to get hungry again after that.
