Tip Calculator Web App

Postby Shro » Fri Mar 06, 2015 4:09 pm UTC

So I made a web app: a very simple concept with a little bit of a twist.

It's a tip calculator, but instead of calculating the exact percentage of your bill total, it will give you a range of whole dollar tips or whole dollar totals and their corresponding percentages. It's very simple, and would appreciate y'all taking a look.

I still have some tweaks to make, so any ideas and suggestions are appreciated!

What about a tool to round to the nearest interesting mathematical figure, like Pi or something?

Ha! I totally do this all the time! I definitely wouldn't want that on the main page, but it's cute and could maybe be a subpage.
What are some interesting mathematical/scientific constants?

I created this webpage especially because I always usually want to tip a whole dollar amount (on a credit card) or have my bill be a whole dollar total (dolla dolla bills), and choosing a percentage and then having to think about how the percentage might change when that rounding takes place is kind of annoying.

I was also thinking about having an option (again, not on the main page) to have a palindromic total. People use this option a lot so they can quickly look at their credit card statements and detect fraud, so that's definitely something that's in the pipeline.

Don't put a dollar sign at the beginning. No currency sign at all.
