Rules on posting your website - NO, SERIOUSLY, GUYS.

Postby Jack Saladin » Sat Dec 23, 2006 1:03 am UTC

You may only do so if you have five legitimate posts in other parts of the forum.

This is an anti-spam measure - if you come in here and your first post is a link to your site, it will be deleted.

Otherwise, all standard rules apply here.

Oh god, the irony is staggering.

Not really. I would guess that somewhere between 50-100% of threads have gotten a spam reply to them at some point or another, based on how much of the shit I've deleted.

At most, I would say that the irony is just noticeable.

Actually, it's more ironic than that considering the discussion of this topic, though most of them have gotten spam lately.

However, it's not the biggest of the spam ironies.

I've seen 4 or 5 people ignoring this rule pretty heavily. I'll let it go for now. Next one's getting deleted.

The wording of the penalty is not clear if a person *has* posted in the intro thread, but hasn't yet gotten ten posts.

I would have summarily deleted "Marten (the great)"'s post, except he posted in the intros thread, and the nerf thing was kinda funny.

Rules be rules folks. If you do not have at least 10 legitimate posts including the intro thread, any threads you have created will be deleted.

Then why is there a "www" link at the bottom of your post?

Look, we are not horrible people. Just post a few more times, you might even start to like it here. Otherwise, what part of "Rules be Rules" do you not understand?

I never posted in the Intro-Thread. Is it too late to do it now? (and I'm just digging myself in a deeper hole by asking here, upping my post count, and pushing my Intro-Thread post farther from my first post... sorry.)

I swear I'm not a bot :( no word on my raptor-status, but I'm not a bot!

Is this thread for all art? Would you post your own music in this forum or the music forum? It's both art and music! Depending on the genre it may also be math too.

Post it wherever you feel appropriate. If a mod deems it to be in the wrong place then we'll just move it anyway.

You don't get told. If it breaks the rules, it gets deleted. That should be a pretty clear message.

The rules sticky is at the top of every forum. Go Board Index -> General and look near the top.

Having to post 5 legitimate posts before my website link is ok strongly reminds me of self-reference irony.
was that self-reference? was it irony? was it legitimate??

Ok, well I understand the reasoning, on this, but it could lead to someone just posting 5
useless posts,...any way I will introduce my self first, I am Garry,
this is my first time here....normally I would say to see more about me,
visit my webb site...I guess I will just have to wait...
In the meanwhile I can look around, and see what I find, that I may want to comment
on, I don't like spam either, and I don't believe ,in posting meaningless posts, just to
get 5 posts in,...so I need to find stuff I am interested in posting too...
Looks like a interesting forum though...

They need to be posts that contribute to the forum, and five posts in this thread are probably not going to contribute too greatly. We also don't allow double posting, as there is an edit function on each post. (I know that yours were only just approved though, so the double post is understandable here.)
