My website with pretty pictures

Postby Poohblah » Fri Mar 27, 2009 1:16 am UTC

I'm not exactly sure how faux paux it is to do what I'm about to do, but I'm going to do it anyway.

I made a website! (Granted, it's not exactly XHTML-compliant, but whatever.)

anyway, here it is:
www.jayhendrenphotography.com

I made it because I'm hoping to do more freelance work this summer. But I posted it here because I want to hear sweet nothings. tell me what you think...

Initial thoughts:
-It's not immediately apparent that the links right below the header are actually links.
-The color you're using for links is somewhat hard to read on that color background.
-For the front page, I'd recommend messing around with larger images, especially so that the text associated with each image fits onto one line.
-The image links on the front page aren't centered correctly.

hey thanks man!
I didn't notice some of that stuff before, I'm not sure why

Though it was intentional that I have the text below each image not on a single line.

edit: ....? the images on the front page SHOULD be centered, I can't figure out a reason why they're not

For a business website, this is not the attitude you want to be taking when it comes to compliancy.

If I were truly running a business, I would probably take the time to make sure it provides more net income than the interest on my savings account. Haha. This is a very, very, very part-time thing. But yes, this is true.

Aside from fancy schmancy business stuff, I think your site is great!

I absolutely love your color gallery.

As mentioned in another thread, I'm not a fan of the usual scenery and nature photos, but a lot of them are really really well done and well manipulated.
I hope you continue to play around more with dynamic colors and interesting concepts!
Not to bag on wedding and nature photos or anything...

Please let us (this thread, I guess...) know whenever your site is updated :)

Your photographs are really awesome, I mean really awesome. But I would suggest putting the gallery pictures in a separate div of a certain (the bigggest height&width) size, so the previous, next links don't move up and down. . . or reload. It would make it easier to naviagate, I think, but the small previews on the side are great! I would have never thought of that. Also I don't think you need to write "browse "type" gallery", I think that "type" or ""type" gallery" under each picture would suffice. Also, perhaps you could get a more professional sounding e-mail address. Though handing out business cards with "email: poohblah13@yahoo.com" has a certain childish glee about it. http://www.qwantz.com/archive/001416.html
