Threadless "I'm human! Just look at my hat!" shirt

Postby blind visionary » Tue Aug 14, 2007 5:26 pm UTC

I submitted the current design of the raptor shirt to Threadless. If it does ok but not great, I'll probably try some other variations of the disguised raptor idea. If you want to vote, go http://www.threadless.com/submission/13 ... _at_my_hat

for those to lazy to scroll down, here's the latest version of the raptor shirt.

I think it's awesome. Decent allegory for a picture on a t-shirt, and yet so very tragic.

Man, I really want that one too! It went on sale during some sort of discount period and sold out to fast for me to get one. I really hope they reprint it.

Well I really don't want to rush this one. It's tricky. I've finished a version 1, which I submitted for critique. This is what it looks like:

XD, i really like this, but I'm semi-waiting for Belial to jump in and say you're forgetting ----, and -------, ect.

Anyways, i'd be very happy to buy this when finished. More raptor t-shirts ftw!

A drop of blood on the raised claw?

Or maybe the teacup has some bloody, severed fingers poking out. :?

So the comments on Threadless say to just "make it more British"
The only thing I can think of is to add a monocle perhaps. Any other ideas?

Here's v2.0 of the design. Added halftone shading on some areas.

Is it possible to get the dots for the halftone shading any more fine? Because that would greatly improve the look.

I fixed the halftoning. (found out a better way to do it that's easier and looks tons better) Then I added a strap for the bowtie, and put what we can only assume is human blood in the teacup.

I have one idea which is to put a dead body behind (or maybe on the back of the shirt) him, in like a tux, but missing the hat and bowtie. Dunno if it's too drastic.

This is an awesome shirt and if you ever put it up, I'll vote $5.

I like the halftone shading, but still think it could use some more depth. It's looking a bit 2D to me.

Also, I'm wondering what the eye is looking at. The way it is now, it's looking almost directly to the right side of the raptor. Which may be anatomically correct, but I still think it's a little strange. I dunno, it'sprobably just me.

Keep up the great work!
