What is lemonade?
Apparently depending on where you live in the world, if you ask for lemonade you may or may not get a carbonated drink. Discuss.

Re: What is lemonade?
I wouldn't call it juice, as most brands of lemonaid from a soda fountain (where it's purchased mostly) and in bottles, contains less than 1% juice. I would call it the following:
A lemon-flavored, sweetened, semi-acidic soft drink (which may or may not contain a small percentage of citrus juice).

Proper lemonade is lemon juice and granulated sugar. You're thinking of this stuff:

It's the thing branded as Sprite or 7-Up in the US. It's also lemon juice, sugar and ice. And "Traditional Lemonade" is a carbonated drink with the flavour and colour of lemon juice.

Slightly disappointed with the lack of a "Recent Beyonce album" option.

Re: What is lemonade?
Squeeze juice from an arbitrary, large number of lemons into an amphora or something. Add water, to taste. Mint leaves are a nice addition as well.

Lemonade is lemon juice, water, and sugar.
There are various other concoctions - some of them carbonated - that may be called lemonade by various people; but those people are wrong.
Re: What is lemonade?
Of course limonade isn't fizzy, that stuff is called frisdrank.
Also I only know it as the sweet fruit-flavoured syrup stuff. There's probably some lemon extract or other acidifier in there to enhance the sweet flavour, but the sweet is always overwhelming.

Re: What is lemonade?
If I order lemonade I'll be surprised if it isn't carbonated, but I'll still accept it as delicious lemonade. I might wonder why they don't just call it juice or punch.

Re: What is lemonade?
"Lemon juice", at least around here, means the stuff squeezed straight out of the fruit. Not a highly sought-after beverage. Mostly used for cooking. (Also "punch" tends to mean mixed fruit something beverage sugar maybe booze? Not really descriptive of lemonade.)
In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.

Re: What is lemonade?
There is such a thing as drinkable "lemon juice" from concentrate, it's just extremely uncommon. But in the context of ordering lemon juice from a restaurant menu, the name ought to work because you wouldn't expect to receive the stuff used for cooking.

Where do the people with sparkling lemonade live?
I've never been served a sparking lemonade before (then again, I don't drink too much lemonade).
It's just lemon juice and sugar. That's it. Nothing else is needed.
I've had excellent lemonade with other flavorings in addition to the lemon (like blueberries, mint, and other things), but I've never had sparkling lemonade.

It's mainly a European thing. Like cphite said, they might call it lemonade, but lemonade it ain't.
There's a certain amount of freedom involved in cycling: you're self-propelled and decide exactly where to go. If you see something that catches your eye to the left, you can veer off there, which isn't so easy in a car, and you can't cover as much ground walking.
