Computer Engineering or Software Engineering?

Hello guys.
Can anyone guide me 'which path should i take Computer Engineering or Software Engineering (my dream is to control machines and robots using computer/programming)?'

I don't really have an answer for you, but I'd also look at EE.

Are you applying to colleges now or something? You'd probably be well-served to check out the specific programs you're looking at -- perhaps email a couple professors at the places you're looking.

Some schools have engineering programs specifically for robotics, so that would be something to look at as well. These sometimes go under the impossibly awesome name "mechatronics".

if hardware is your passion then i predict you'll grow tired of pure soft. eng.

if anything i'd say go EE, or if not that then comp eng.

also bear in mind many courses let you take electives from other streams, so if you're worried about missing an element from either you can likely take it regardless of your choice. check with your institution beforehand of course

Just tell them what you told us, and they'll probably point you in the right direction.

It might be a good idea to ask to speak with a student in the program you're interested in. I think most universities will arrange this.
