Wow, I guess I did pretty horrendous then, seeing everyone else's reactions to their "terrible" scores...=X

700 CR
680 Math
740 Writing

1380 with CR and math
2120 total

I'm actually not too terrible in Trig in school and stuff, but for some reason SAT math is just...argh.

I wanna improve Math and CR, and just brush up on my essay writing skills (I probably could have gotten perfect or near perfect in writing if it weren't for the essay  )

CR : 730 (very good, but small room for improvement)
Math : 670 (I need to work on this, but it's mostly so low because i don't know much about trig)
Writing :650 (stupid essay)
Total is 2050, but I will be taking it again in October.

Subject tests:
Biology E: 740 (I've only taken freshman bio, not AP (I'm a junior))
Mathematics Level 2: 630 (Must work better, will be retaking this one)
World History : 580 (I did this one because I thought it would be easy, and it was one of the classes i had taken at the time. Apparently not.)

math 720 (I'm pissed about this)
reading 650
writing 640

total is 2010/2400 or 1370/1600 (since few colleges care about the writing yet)

Well, I'm not in college yet, but I've got a mere 3.6, should really be a 3.3 because our grade weighting is stupid.

And am I the only to notice there is a major mess up in the poll for the /2400 section? As in "1810 - 2150" and the next group is "1990 - 2160". The first one should be "1810 - 1980"

Rather annoyed. Retaking it in June and I'm going to own it this time.

This topic makes me depressed (now that I think about it, a lot of things do)...

First time (1810):

Critical Reading: 530
Math: 690
Writing: 590

Second time (1850):

Critical Reading: 550
Math: 710
Writing: 590

I did better in everything the second time around with the exception of the timed essay (did not finish). Hopefully this will repeat once I take it again... I know I can do better. When I took the PSAT, I scored a 205, which is equivalent to a 2050 on the SAT, and they say that the PSAT is harder than the SAT (not sure about this)...

I can do better junior year, hopefully.

On the new test:
CR 800
Math 740 (Old scale: 1540/1600)
Writing (essay): 650.

Total: 2190 new scale. Damn essay.

And since there was discussion of the ACT...35. Can't recall the section scores.

I did pretty well my Freshman year of high school, and then I decided that school sucks and went from First Honors to never passing a 3.0 average in a semester again (usually on account of scraping by on quizzes/tests alone in math/science classes (and not doing much homework in other classes either)). I think I ended up with a 3.14 cumulative.

We don't have the SAT in Sweden, but we have our own college admission test. It consists of 122 questions in five sections (math/logic, swedish reading, english reading, swedish vocabulary, statistics). I got 112 right on my first try, where 110-122 earns you the highest grade.

SAT #1:

Reading - 730
Math - 690
Writing - 640
Essay - 8
Total - 2060

SAT #2:

Reading - 740
Math - 730
Writing - 640
Essay - 9
Total - 2090

ACT

English - 31
Math - 35
Reading - 34
Science - 35
English/writing - 29
Essay - 8
Total - 34

Overall, I guess I'm sort of indifferent. I feel like I'm better than my scores show, but at this rate I feel like taking the SAT for a third and final time would appear desperate and hardly raise my grade.

Back when I took it in seventh grade, I got 790 math/710 verbal.

When I took it in tenth grade, I got 800 math/750 reading/730 writing. This was with a perfect multiple-choice writing section but a 4 on the essay.

When I took it this year, in the eleventh grade, I got 800 math/800 reading/650 writing. I got 77/80 on the multiple choice writing and a 2 on the essay.

Why do a lot of people seem to have higher verbal than math scores?

My first try back in March, I got:

1930
Math: 710
Critical Reading: 600
Writing: 620
Essay: 10

I guess I have to just train my "ear" better, or so says the Kaplan book I've been using. I take them again on Saturday, so we'll see how that goes. And of course, I messed up by not doing anything in May, which is forcing me to take the SAT II stuff in October, pushing back any early applications I had in mind until I receive those scores.

This year (7th grade): 1920, 660 on math, 650 on writing, 610 on reading- pretty bad compared to most here, but due to being ill AND having a last minute realization that I bubbled in the wrong section and having to transfer it (and I'm assuming some of the answers got messed up in that), I feel a bit better.

Straight 740s, for a 2220. I am actually disappointed in my math score, since I knew how to do every problem, AND did all the math sections twice to check my answers. Oh well, its still top 50 at most of the schools I am applying to.

I only took it once, out of sheer laziness.

Math: 750
Reading: 700
Writing: 600

It was sad that the writing was such a throwaway, simply because it didn't matter what I got since none of my colleges took the writing section seriously. It also bothers me that I know my essay was judged based on length rather than quality.

SAT IIs
Biology: 700
Chemistry: 650
Literature: 800
Math I: 800

I never really was any good at the sciences.

Man, SATs were a long time ago for me...

SAT I: 1460, 780 Math, 680 Verbal

SAT II:
Writing: I don't remember, it was something terrible though...
Biology: 800
Math I: 720?

Funny story with the Biology. Rather than deciding which test to take, I filled out the entire test within the hour and picked which one I was more sure of; I picked M since there was one question in the E section I wasn't sure of.

680 reading
690 writing
710 math

As a high-school freshman.
Of course, the results here make me look stupid, but that is in the 90th percentile for graduating seniors. So basically, the people here are either abnormally smart or making things up, though from looking at the fora I am tempted to go with the former.

640 - Reading
670 - Math
640 - Writing (3's on my essay)

1950 - Total

I really should get that math score if I want to go to Georgia Tech. It is towards the bottom of the competitive range.

I still can't believe my essay score. I compared it to the sample essays for each score, and mine did not have as many errors as the sample 3 did. I believe mine was at least worthy of 4's, possibly 5's if they were lenient. I don't know my essay scores from the AP Language exam, but I do know I got a 5 on the whole test. So my essay could not have been horrible. So something doesn't add up. I really am against the incredibly short reading time for the SAT essays right now. It takes more than a couple of minutes to accurately judge an essay.

I'm taking the ACT this fall, so I'll see how that goes first before I start worrying too much.

When is retaking the SAT recommended? I just got my scores back this morning from my first SAT.
I scored 2170 combined with:
Reading: 730
Writing: 800
Math: 640 ( :? )

I was going to take it again if I got lower than a 2200, but I'm so close and I feel like I can only get worse in the reading and writing section. I'm definitely a language person, and definitely not a math person, so the scores aren't inaccurate, but....
A college I'm applying to recommends taking it more than once so they can see multiple scores, and there is always the chance that I'll do a little better in math while maintaining the writing, plus most colleges only take the highest score into account.
