"Digger" - Ursula Vernon

Since there isn't a "webcomics that aren't xkcd" forum,Yes, there is. You're in it. - ST I figured "comics/graphic novels" is the next best place to post this.

This. Is. So. Good. It's funny, it's epic, it's sad, it's moving... it's just awesome.

I just discovered Digger from the "Women in Comics" thread, read through the archives in a three hour marathon, and was debating whether to start a thread about it. :D Granted, I don't actually have much to say, but it really is awesome. I love the shadowchild.

I thought the author's other comics were also quite good.

This is the only webcomic I've ever wanted to buy the real life book of.
I want to hold it and be able to read it even after I've forgotten the url.
Must have it.

Yes :-) Here's hoping there's a box set when it's finished.

I've been a fangirl of Ursula Vernon for a really long time. You can not imagine my joy when digger became free. I'm saving up to buy the comics, but since they're not sold in most bookstores I keep accidentally buying Sandman instead.
She has a really amazing style, its hard to get across that depth of shading in pen all on your own. Also the page layouts are absolutely brilliant. And the (somewhat) random addition of Ganesh is amazing. The footnotes lend a bit of a Terry Pratchett vibe to the whole thing.
The bit with the vampire vegetables made me fall out of my chair. Anyone else remember that?

The squash :D
From the comments underneath I keep getting the impression that some of the footnotes and author comments have been removed.
What's that about?

This is, for some reason, one of the funniest things I've read today.

I *think* that some of the comments from users have been removed, because people kept posting spoilers for later comics on the pages for earlier comics.

EDIT: Re vampire vegetables -- I remember that, because I just started reading this thing like a week ago :-P It was pretty awesome. Especially when they came back!!

I swear one of the comments said something about some author comments about rocks being removed, I dunno.
