Subnormality

Postby Jorpho » Thu Mar 08, 2012 2:18 pm UTC

Who else here is a fan of Winston Rowntree's opus?

His text-comics are so dense and pithy that there are large swaths of the archives that I have yet to properly plumb. I was actually thinking of buying a print, but it's hard to decide on one; I was thinking maybe someone here might have a suggestion? I quite like The Inner Dark, except that's so darn dark that I don't think I really want it on my wall.

Captain Estar Goes to Heaven did nice things to my brain.

This one is good for a "......well, fuck." feeling, if you're in to that. I also liked Sector 41. But yeah, Captain Estar is good, as is the regular Subnormality strip.

This one really wanted to be its own long comic, rather than a re-telling. Because damn.

Thanks to Jorpho for this thread, I had never heard of it before, but I read these two that Talon posted and they are great the one Belial posted was a bit dyslexia inducing, I'll have to give it a try another time, the jist of it seemed cool though.

Yeah, that's.. Winston. Subnormality is self-described as the comic with too many words in it.

This is a good short one, I had this one in my signature for a while, Good Ol' Time Travel and Hitler joke.

And this one, too, I think. But yeah, mostly the one you linked.

This one (latest) is worth a good look.

I finally have Choose Your Own Adventure on my wall. I'm not sure it was such a good idea; it might be a little too evocative of whatever inner existential angst is currently nagging at me. If this latest one ends up as a decent poster it would seem to be a much better choice.

I still need to sit down and read Captain Estar. Too bad there's no convenient PDF.

Ooh, he's got some new prints out.

Plus there's some links to his Cracked stuff! It's slightly difficult to find his stuff on Cracked.com, especially since visiting Cracked.com is known to cause explosions.

I keep meaning to order a print for Floor Plan of the Mind, but looking at it again, it seems like it might be a bit heavy-handed. What you you think?
