Server move successful

Postby xkcd » Tue Aug 29, 2006 5:02 pm UTC

xkcd.com has moved over to the sleek new server, bringing an end to the obnoxious 2.4.x kernel problems that were causing the occasional forum slowdown (and a number of behind-the-scenes headaches).

The change was done with zero site downtime and the new server seems to be running smoothly. We're now ready to handle any number of visitors at any time (without the fears that the older system would choke up at a bad moment).

So, internet, let's see what you've got!

And good work, davean. He did the actual work, I just sat and watched.

Hurrah for sitting and watching!

Oh, and good to hear that the new server is up and running too. I wondered why I had to log into the forums just now.

I chose to attempt to enter the forums during the downtime, needless to say I was disappointed.

I was forced to just go and do something with my life. Unable to access the forums, I cured cancer (Or played World of Warcraft, it's definitely one of the two).

Good job.
