I'm no longer sure it's good to reveal your targets patzer...

Anyway Dr Ug, yes, it makes sense: Once you get a penalty point, the strategy becomes to make everyone else get a penalty point, to get on a new ground, with chances to once again, win. If patzer never gets a penalty point, patzer basically wins no matter what.

At least, that's what we expect to see by playing to our wincon, since patzer is town.

The problem is, of course, getting on a new ground where it's impossible for town to win, which is the worst case, and the reason I disagree with Sir's strategy.

<Sigh>

So, either we push for the living to win - as fast as possible, going town so we don't have to worry about frogman being cleared, while accruing as few penalty points as possible? Or we leave frogman stuck with the masonic status and the rest of us succumb to infection as quickly as possible?

I'm no longer sure what the heck I should be playing to.

If we're still zombie-stomping, doctor SirG, and lynch maident who I strongly suspect is another zombie, given no comments on whether her or frogman have masonic chat.

If we're all just trying to switch sides as little as possible, fine, lynch patzer and bite me.

I'll have a think and vote later.

anyway, 8 hours to go and it looks like we'll lynch Ug. I am okay with this.

Interesting, so it wasn't as full of manure after all, this looks like Echo is begging to be bitten.

In any case, "let's all get bitten!" doesn't sounds like a plan to switch sides as little as possible... We should focus on making zombies and cultists switch to town so they get their penalty points and help us.

Yes, it was full of manure, because you'd switch sides twice once townised, and I'd only switch once. If you really want zombies to switch to town, then tell us who you bit.

Anyway. Who I vote for doesn't matter, Ug will be lynched regardless - I don't see how his town claim can have happened, so he's non-town, but SirG and maident are higher up my zombie suspect list - so I might as well use the vote as the only mechanism I have to indicate my *extreme* displeasure.

Echo, voting Vytron? That seems rather unwise, considering he's one of the very few confirmed townies. For all you know, a zombie could jump onto that and make us lynch Vytron.

Why don't you just vote for SirGabriel or maident, if you think they're zombies?

Echo, please unvote, and think of some other way to voice your displeasure. Yes, Vytron isn't being helpful to town, but lynching him will not change that!

Who would you rather lynch of SirG or maident? Unless someone else is around, we can't lynch SirG, so dropping my vote on him is pointless unless someone else speaks up, but if you'd rather lynch maident than Dr Ug, I'm good with that. I'll check back pre-deadline.

I'd rather lynch SirGabriel. For confidential reasons I strongly believe that maident is town.

current votes are

Dr Ug (2): patzer, maident
patzer (1): SirGabriel
maident (1): Dr Ug

so we can lynch SirG if we both vote for him.

I know you're probably cult due to your continuous defending of Ug, but at this point I'd be okay with temporarily allying with cult to remove the zombies.

Not defending him, he was just further down my lynch list as certainly-cult-maybe-zombie than maident. Now you're backing maident, I'll move her down my potential zombie list.

Should be noted that I still think there's a chance your doctoring efforts are being redirected, mind, though part of the logic of that was Vytron still being uncooperative after being doctored. Given he kept it up since being lynched as well, that's less certain, but I still consider it possible.

Anyway.

Looks the sort of game and crowd I'd love, but I'm in Matrix and this already, plus I told myself "One game at a time!"...

I'll probably miss the start, but if an appeal goes out for replacements while I'm in fewer games than I am now, I'll probably volunteer.

"Let's lynch SirGabriel! We haven't lynched him yet! And he's definitely the Zombie! I mean Cult! I mean Alien!"
"But I'm the Alien..." said frogman.

As the town pushed SirGabriel over the cliff, they started to feel worried. All these deaths and newcomers and still the town is not safe. Will they ever find peace?

"Hello, I'm SirGa..."
"Yeah, we know how it works. What we don't know is who the rest is..."

SirGabriel was lynched. He is now vanilla town.

PMs have been sent. If you have not received a pm, nothing has changed for you.

It is now Day 6. 4 votes required to lynch. Deadline: Monday, 20:00h GMT.

Well, I might be the only town left, but I guess it can't hurt to tell everyone my targets.

Night 1 I failed to recruit Echo.
Night 2 I recruited Dr Ug.
Then I turned into a zombie.
Night 3 I bit maident.
Night 4 I bit Echo.
Night 5 I bit Vytron.

I haven't got a clue who's on what side right now, but I'm guessing the zombies are winning. Unless frogman has somehow returned to his alien win condition, in which case he might have the advantage.
Speaking of which, frogman, have you redirected anyone lately?

I actually think the zombies might be losing. There certainly aren't too many of them, and Echo is probably one of them, which gives us a reasonable lynch target. And besides, the cult looks super scary right now.

SirGabriel's N5 action clearly must have failed, given that he was lynched D5.

I think it's now a good time for me to do the same thing.

Night 1 - targeted maident
Night 2 - targeted patzer
Night 3 - targeted Vytron
Night 4 - targeted maident
Night 5 - targeted Echo244

Which, I think, means that the zombies are eliminated! :mrgreen:

No, I think it means that you're the zombie. I lied about targeting Vytron and Echo, I actually targeted patzer nights 4 and 5. So if patzer is telling the truth about her targets, she is now a zombie. If she is lying, she's probably still a zombie (since I can't think why town!patzer would lie in this situation), and maident might be a zombie too.

For Randall's sake, SirG. I know you're lying because you think it's the only way you can win. It's not.

I know a lot.

I know how five of us (SirGabriel, maident, Echo, Dr Ug, and I) can all win this game.

I'm pretty much certain of this.

Hear me out. I'll post the plan soon.

Current state of play:

Dr Ug recruited me to the cult on N3. We recruited Echo to the cult on N4.

maident recruited me on N4, and I became town again. maident recruited me on N5, and I became a mason.

The mason group contains only maident and me. Therefore the cult must have targeted frogman on N5, to remove him from the group.

Players:
SirGabriel - town, 2PP (cult -> zombie -> town)
patzer - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
Vytron - town, 1PP (zombie -> town)
maident - town, 0PP (town)
frogman - alien, 2PP (alien -> masonic alien -> alien)
Echo244 - cult, 1PP (town -> cult)
Dr Ug - cult, 1PP (town -> cult)

I'll post the plan in my next post.

Re: Deathless Mafia - Day six

Postby patzer » Fri Nov 06, 2015 12:47 am UTC

Every night from now on I will target frogman to stop him using his alien powers on anyone other than me.

Today, we will lynch Dr Ug. Tonight, maident will recruit frogman to the masons. The cult will attempt to recruit maident; this will make maident a vanilla townie.

State of play after night 6 (tonight):

Players:
SirGabriel - town, 2PP (cult -> zombie -> town)
patzer - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
Vytron - town, 1PP (zombie -> town)
maident - town, 0PP (town)
frogman - masonic alien, 3PP (alien -> masonic alien -> alien -> masonic alien)
Echo244 - cult, 1PP (town -> cult)
Dr Ug - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)

On day 7, we will no-lynch. On night 7, the cult (Echo) will recruit maident; this will make maident a cultist-with-1-PP.

State of play after night 7:

Players:
SirGabriel - town, 2PP (cult -> zombie -> town)
patzer - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
Vytron - town, 1PP (zombie -> town)
maident - cult, 1PP (town -> cult)
frogman - masonic alien, 3PP (alien -> masonic alien -> alien -> masonic alien)
Echo244 - cult, 1PP (town -> cult)
Dr Ug - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)

On day 8, we will lynch maident. On night 8, the cult (Echo) will recruit Vytron; this will make Vytron a cultist-with-2-PP.

State of play after night 8:

Players:
SirGabriel - town, 2PP (cult -> zombie -> town)
patzer - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
Vytron - cult, 2PP (zombie -> town -> cult)
maident - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
frogman - masonic alien, 3PP (alien -> masonic alien -> alien -> masonic alien)
Echo244 - cult, 1PP (town -> cult)
Dr Ug - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)

On day 9, we will lynch Vytron. On night 9, the cult will do nothing.

State of play after night 9:

Players:
SirGabriel - town, 2PP (cult -> zombie -> town)
patzer - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
Vytron - town, 3PP (zombie -> town -> cult -> town)
maident - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
frogman - masonic alien, 3PP (alien -> masonic alien -> alien -> masonic alien)
Echo244 - cult, 1PP (town -> cult)
Dr Ug - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)

On day 10, we will lynch Echo244.

State of play after day 10:

Players:
SirGabriel - town, 2PP (cult -> zombie -> town)
patzer - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
Vytron - town, 3PP (zombie -> town -> cult -> town)
maident - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
frogman - masonic alien, 3PP (alien -> masonic alien -> alien -> masonic alien)
Echo244 - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)
Dr Ug - town, 2PP (town -> cult -> town)

All cultists are now eliminated, and all townies with two penalty points win.

That is, SirGabriel, Echo244, maident, Dr Ug, and I all win.

And if we all follow this plan, frogman and Vytron can't do anything to stop it. :twisted:

He'll still have his probing powers. But once he's become a masonic alien, those probing powers are useless, for he wouldn't win by probing everyone.

And maident will definitely be able to recruit him to the masons, for my doctoring of him will block his redirection powers.

Okay, so my own plan went to heck after Sir went lynched :(

So I bit SirG N1 (backup Dr Ug), Echo N2 (backup
maident), and Echo (backup: patzer)

I, um... bit Echo twice? :oops:

I forgot about it, or it turns out I was so convinced with her town claims that I didn't think the bite worked.

The day patzer supposedly doctored me, I actually remained zombie and bit once more.

So, who knows who has Echo been biting?

Vote: patzer

I no longer trust her. And even if I did, oh, come on, is that the best you can do? Next time include me in your plan :P

I know patzer's lying, and if, as I suspect, patzer is in fact a zombie, then patzer knows that I know that she's lying. Not that that necessarily makes a difference; I'm vanilla town, so if she convinces everyone else, I can't do anything to stop her. I haven't looked at her plan closely enough to see what a zombie has to gain by convincing everyone else to follow it, but my vote stands until someone can convince me why town!patzer would have falsely claimed not to have targeted herself either night 4 or night 5.

This plan was explained long time ago. I'm not even sure it was good to discuss it, because the whole point is nobody knows patzer is lying, but here's my quote from this post:

Vytron wrote:I think the best thing you can do is lie about it (you claim to target yourself, but not*) or to be open about the possibility of lying (you target yourself, but pretend you could be lying**) as this is the only way to give some chance to the doctor to save someone instead of just keeping you as confirmed town.

*This is strictly better because if you went to do this, scum will not target you and you may protect someone

**And this is still better since, you were going to protect yourself anyway, this just causes scum to have some chance to target you at night - because if the chance is 0 you better not target yourself

The idea is, the only thing you achieve by publicly claiming that you'll protect yourself is that people won't target you. If that happens, then you can protect anyone you want without fearing to be targeted.

Offtopic
Spoiler:
And I've been arguing that strategy is sound for years. The so called "beer". I'm very glad patzer used it for once. Of course, if patzer isn't town who knows.

OK, quick skim through, but first, I'd like to apologise to everyone for voting Vytron last night - patzer was exactly right, my frustration with his tactics doesn't warrant a vote that could be jumped on by others, potentially spoiling the game for everyone else.

I'm reading patzer's plan. I like the idea. I don't think it will work as is; frogman in charge of the masonic recruit power could throw a spanner in the works. That doesn't get blocked by doctoring, afaik. Recruit someone trustworthy first, as lead mason, then re-recruit frogman?

maident recruited me last night; we're both masons now. See this post. I'll remain in charge of masonic recruit power, not frogman.

maident will be able to back me up here; I need her to support me so that you all know I'm telling the truth and not a zombie or something.

Vytron's trying to claim that he's infected everyone. I suspect this is a frantic attempt to muddy the waters.

Echo244 and Dr Ug will be able to confirm that they're both still cult. maident and I will be able to confirm that we're both masons. frogman is an alien, and Vytron and SirGabriel can't be zombies due to having just been lynched. I think it's quite clear that there are no zombies left.

Echo, can you confirm that your cult tried to recruit frogman last night? (You obviously should discuss privately with Ug about the soundness of the plan before deciding to fully reveal your roles - I'm pretty sure it's sound though)

SirGabriel, why do you claim to "know" that I am lying?

Apology accepted.

besides, there's another way you can get revenge on Vytron now :wink:

I targeted you night 4. You claim not to have targeted yourself night 4 or 5, and you claim not to be a zombie.
The only way I can think of where you are telling the truth is if frogman has been redirecting people, in which case your plan is already messed up.

Well, that's unexpected. I just assumed your original claim, to have targeted maident and echo, was correct.

I can categorically state that I am not a zombie - maident will back me up here - so either you're lying, or frogman's been redirecting people.

I don't think my plan is messed up even if frogman has been busy redirecting people, though.

You seemed like the obvious target: as long as you were still town (I assumed, mistakenly it seems, that you had not been culted), there was no way I could win, and, being a zombie at the time, there way no way zombies could win as long as you were doctor no matter which side you were on. I hoped that, if I targeted you two nights in a row, at some point you would deviate from your plan to protect yourself every other night, and you would be converted.

What makes you say that?

As I previously said, "Echo244 and Dr Ug will be able to confirm that they're both still cult. maident and I will be able to confirm that we're both masons. frogman is an alien, and Vytron and SirGabriel can't be zombies due to having just been lynched. Thus his redirections up to now have had no effect on the game being zombie-free by now.

And in future I'll target frogman every night, which will stop him using his redirection powers.

If I'm reading the role PM right, targeting him will stop him from probing anyone but won't stop him from redirecting someone who's already been probed.
