Secret Santa:
Spoiler:
Scum hasn't realized it yet, but they can cause a LOT of havoc right now. jimbob has access to plytho's "Cross" power that makes him immune to abilities from one player. If he used that on moody, then scum could completely ignore his redirection powers.

bessie could have submitted my role AND be scum at the same time. That's the only thing that worries me currently. My role is stupidly worthless if scum submitted it, a big reason why I'm not a fan of it.

Spoiler:
I actually find Sabrar's question about whether what I said about my redirection comes from the PM to be a bit inappropriate as it tacks a bit close to the "no quoting the PM" rule. This from a guy who was in a game where we beached on that rule at flank speed (that town won despite that). My response is technically true while still being ambiguous enough for my comfort mod-death-wise.

No, that was not in the original submitted version. The original version actually had it that you would change to your target's target but for a variety of reasons I felt that approach would be too complicated to work.

Funny how the game where I appear to be the towniest is one of the very rare games when I'm actually scum

Also, have I actually been "confirmed" as town:lol:? I honestly don't know what's going on with moody's claim. We targeted him for the kill, and hit plytho, who is above in player order (but below in alphabetical order).

Secret Santa

Spoiler:
Sorry Gojoe for neglecting you. Between making game posts and chat posts, time is slipping by. I had a post written a day or two ago for you, and I thought I posted it, and I also thought I replied to wam’s inquiry on what type of game we wanted next (I like having a newbie friendly games roll around every few months so that we can draw in some new players and the last one was Refrigerator), and I guess I did neither.

So where was I?

I am continually impressed with jimbobmacdoodle. He is able to work out all the subtleties of the mechanics and how the roles interact to most effectively select our targets (nothing for him after running WoT2!). We also think alike, it turns out we had each asked the mods the same questions pregame. Moreover he's a good person to bounce stuff off of, and his observations are perceptive, reminds me a bit of mpolo.

So anything else interesting I can ruminate over? Oh yeah, there’s Sabrar. :)

I always thought that it would be fun to be mafia with Sabrar. But I don’t see how it could possibly be more fun than it is working him over. The only thing that could make this better is if BoomFrog was playing too. :P

BoomFrog, I see you watching. Are you talking about me me me?

Sabrar can take consolation in the fact that he is irritating the hell out of me with his stubbornness over his meta reads. Why is he so stuck on this read of Madge? I’m as frustrated over it as I was in Crossover. But not as frustrated as I was over his meta read of heury in X-men. Here’s the Gojoe post that I thought I already made:

Sabrar, you know you are my favorite, and probably will remain so even if SDK ever decides to come back and grace us with his presence by joining a game. But you and I have been in conflict over your stubbornness concerning your meta reads for quite a while. We’ve had heated arguments over it, and we’re probably going to argue about it again, maybe in this game. (Spectators, if you’re wondering, this post will give you all the background information you need.) Well Sabrar your meta read stubbornness is finally going to bite you in the ass. And I’m going to smirk over you finally being wrong.

Ok so based on feedback I will write a newbie vanilla game. Setup I am going for is as follows

9 Signups

7/2 split.

There are a cop and a doctor on the town side. I can hear all the experienced players going but isn't that just going to lead to follow the cop.

If the cop is sane the doctor is ineffective, if the doctor is effective the cop is naive (always gets town).

There is also a 50% chance of a miller (player will be told).

If I get enough interest I will up it to 12 with a 9/3 split and a introduce a watcher/tracker with the same modifier. I.e sane watcher, useless tracker and vice versa.

Offer is still open if there is a co-mod who wants to write flavour.

Yeah I think sabrar might have people questioning his reads next game!

Also I think tomorrow will be interesting, player alive:

2. Sabrar
4. Liri
5. Madge (I like coming up with roles so I'm signing up to play woooooo)
6. jimbobmacdoodle
8. moody7277
9. Suzkaku
10. bessie

Based on the claimed power, suzaku and madge can't be NK'd as scum could hit themselves. Given the actual power jimbob or bessie could be killed if they get the target wrong.

Also from a purely game point of view who do scum shoot. Moody will be hard to hit without hitting themselves. The others would beg the question why bessie and jimbob are still alive.

Damn, turns out I condemned myself to an early death. And I'll be damned, knowing Sabrar's power his behaviour starts to make sense and he might have alluded to it serving little more than provoking some reaction. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get back to answer Liri's question (quite good question by the way) before the mods declared me dead, but it's not a great loss, I didn't have much information.

Secret Santa 2017:
Spoiler:
Updated list of people reading Jimbob and bessie as town:
somitomi - Jimbob towniest, bessie 2nd towniest (admittedly, dead now).
Liri - Jimbob towniest, bessie 3rd towniest.
Moody - Jimbob towniest, bessie 2nd towniest.
Sabrar - Jimbob and bessie are core town.
Suzaku - no recent opinions.
Madge - no recent opinions.

One of those bottom two is likely to get lynched, so I'm pretty happy here. If only we could get rid of moody and not have to worry about redirection of the night kill.

Secret Santa
Spoiler:
Scum been playing strong and has been having all of the luck this game. somitomi's death was very unfortunate since he never got to reveal his night result, which would have allowed Madge to use her power properly (and, importantly, get a cop result if nothing else).

I think Town can still win, though it's definitely an uphill battle. Best case scenario for Town is probably Suzaku lynch (even though his power is strong there's not really any way around it), Madge gets a useful result, and kill is either blocked or Liri (who is poisoned and therefore dead anyway).

I'll be up for it if nobody else wants to give it a whirl.

I've written flavour for two or three games this year so I'm a little reluctant to "hog" the flavour as it were.

I think Suzaku expressed a desire to do some modding? Don't know if he wanted to do setups or do flavour though.

I've read about three pages of the game (2 pages of D2 start and the most recent one 14).

My gut says liri and 60/40 between Moody and Bessie. So let's say Liri+Moody scum team.

I'm not going to read your response to this until it's clear there won't be further need for replacements. So far I've only read your question which I think is innocent enough.

Secret Santa
Spoiler:
Ok, I’ve put my all out in the thread. This game is really draining me (and some RL issues haven’t helped). I thought that playing scum was supposed to be easier than playing town. I’m doing everything exactly the same way I always play, but it’s been much more difficult, and I see no reason why that should be. I am very fortunate to have jimbob as a partner, he is a much more observant player than I am, and he is doing much better than I am at reads. Madge is as scummy as always and I can’t seem to build a good case on her. I usually have no problem hammering on Madge, even when we're both town, which is almost always the case. It doesn’t help that Sabrar will never ever lynch her anyway. He’s so frustrating. When Sabrar has a meta read he just won’t give it up.

Pfft.
bessie is considered townie by most due to her playstyle being the same as always, I also think there is a meta-tell though others disagree.

Have you ever wanted to laugh and shout with indignation at the same time?

Secret Santa:
Spoiler:
N2 results, fairly uninteresting:
-Sabrar does nothing.
-Liri redirects Madge to bessie
-Madge uses her device on Sabrar => redirect to bessie. bessie visits every player in the night (but no other effect).
-jimbob commutes
-moody does nothing (no bulletproof going forward)
-bessie kills Liri and follows Madge, learns Madge sent a message N1.

Surprisingly, none of the powers except for moody and Sabrar have had any effect on the game, and this will likely be the case through the remainder.

Well, that flip opens up one half of the nightmare scum team of Sabrar-bessie. Still mostly sure that Madge is scum, but I have to be real careful from here on out, I have zero practice as town in a small-player LYLO situation. My usual meta makes a scum victory a real possibility here, maybe they'll get overconfident...hope, hope.

The only way I can see scum!jimbob with town!moody is if jimbob really has bulletproof or additional redirection or something else. But then why has nobody come forward with such a theory? Could be that jimbob's scum-buddy submitted it or wam or plytho. That would be very unlucky...
Plus who would be his partner? Madge? Unlikely due to D1 bus. So bessie? Two of my towniest reads, with everyone else making mistakes left and right? Could be true, they definitely deserve the win if that's the case.
