Oh, and Korora was suspicious of CV, not CF. CF has been dead this entire game, of course.

To be honest, I had quite forgotten. The point about Sje and CV seems reasonable, though there is the possibility of anti-town independents that scum knows nothing of.

Okay, well, I think everyone knew about Amy. Just somehow, most of the people who voted for her was swept up in the bandwagon, or they were weary of Day 1.

Hmm, we didn't do too terribly badly. Kudos to whoever killed the scum.

I agree, I think everyone knew Amy wasn't scum. Now, let's go take a long, hard look at the people anxious to lynch her.

I'm rather peeved at this lot for the Amy lynch. I had a hunch Matthias was town, but as I said, I felt Amy was almost certainly town.

Also: Why is Az listed as voting both for bio and Amy?

Hmmm, looking over the past few pages, I believe that NotARaptor is the only one to vote for both me and Amy. If you assume my innocence as an axiom, that makes him very very suspicious. Needless to say, this will not be convincing to those of you who still believe that I'm scum.

No, I really thought there was a better chance she was scum than anyone else I could identify. The day had gone on for a long time and presented nothing else, no lynching is a bad idea, and I thought the chance of hitting her as scum was better than the chance of hitting someone completely randomly. It was a day 1 lynch with only five votes, which is nothing given the size of this game. If people thought there was a better lynch target they should have spoken up before the day was over and concentrated on getting someone else lynched.

Not fos's again.

Anyway, it seems likely that it was the man in black who took down the torturer. That leaves the mafia kill on Wildcard. This is an interesting pick as I don't remember him antagonizing anyone yesterday. That doesn't mean that he didn't. I have a terrible memory.

Yeah, it was probably the scum who got Wildcard-- but then, there may be a doctor, or it could be like Intrigue-- the scum couldn't kill at all. (Threw the 'ell out a' us, it did.) The wineglass sounds more like the Man in Black, though Vissini was kinda crazy-- doesn't seem as likely to me that he'd use that, but it's not inconcievable. Anyway, this proves that Humperdink and the Six-Fingered Man (and maybe others) are probably our scum, not that that's a surprise or anything. Also, whoever killed Wildcard used a blade of some sort-- a knife or a sword. Humperdink had a sword, and Inigo, and Westley, and the six-fingered man, and that doesn't really rule out much at all, does it?

"a strange ticking"... that can't be good. Anyone have any idea what that could be? It's not ringing any bells for me.

I don't think a sword related death is enough to tie WC to anything.
But by process of elimination, I think we can assume scum killed him.
We lynched Amy.
Korora was scum.
WC is the only non-scum nightkill.
So unless AMT is right, and the scum have no NK, then WC was killed by scum.
Question is, what did the poor sap do?

She jumped on Ati extremely quickly, which I found uncharacteristic, and given that her general take on the subject is that she makes mistakes much more as scum, I found that a reasonably good reason for a D1 lynch, especially since I had absolutely nothing on anyone else.

Westley can probably use wine, sword, or hand-to-hand combat to kill people. But I've never heard of a jack-of-all-flavor-text before. So it might be like a 3shot vig or something. Who knows?

Well, scum has to have a night kill or half the mechanics of the game don't work. So WC must have been scummed out. On the bright side, there were no townies NKd, so the balance remains largely in our favor.

I'm guessing it's from "the machine" in the pit of despair, which makes many noises, some of which could be described as a ticking. There's no scene in the movie where people hear a ticking emanating from a tree (in the movie, Inigo finds the entrance by dowsing with his sword), but the entrance is a tree, so it fits.

I'm thinking that Wildcard was a recruiter, more likely a mason-ish recruiter.(Since "Twoo Wuv" doesn't seem like something you'd form a standard "Kill all nonbelievers!"-type cult from, really.)

Regardless, the entrance to the pit was a tree, we have a ticking tree... So I think it could be tied to 6FM (6 Fingered Man) but I don't know what it means.
Maybe it's a timed power?
Actually, has everyone checked in? Maybe 6FM can take away someone's ability to post/vote for a day by putting them on the life sucking machine.

I certainly assumed it was an intentional pun.

Regarding the pit, I looked up "pit of despair" on Wikipedia, and instead of getting something about Princess Bride, I read an article on some absolutely horrifying animal testing. Harry Harlow was a horrible, horrible man. The man's rotting bones should be dug up and defiled.

But, back to Princess Bride . . . Here is every scene that takes place at the pit:
Spoiler:
[Scene: Pit of Despair. Westley is strapped to a table, in front
of a Large machine that consists of a waterwheel, levers, pumps
etc. An Albino is tending to Westley's wounds]

Westley: Where am I?

Albino: [menacing voice] The Pit of Despair. Don't even think-
- < cough, gasp! > [normal voice] Don't even think
about trying to escape. The chains are far too
thick. And don't dream of being rescued, either. The
only way in is secret, and only the prince, the
count, and I know how to get in and out.

Westley: Then I'm here till I die?

Albino: Till they kill you, yeah.

Westley: Then why bother curing me?

Albino: [sighs] The prince and the count always insist on
everyone being healthy before they're broken.

Westley: So it's to be torture then? < Albino nods head > I
can cope with torture < Albino shakes head > Don't
believe me?

Albino: You survived the fire swamp, you must be very brave,
but nobody withstands The Machine.

.

[Scene: Pit of Despair]

Count Rugen:Beautiful, isn't it? Took me half a lifetime to
invent it. I'm sure you've discovered my deep and
abiding interest in pain. At present, I'm writing
the definitive work on the subject, so I want you to
be totally honest with me on how The Machine makes
you feel. This being our first try, I'll use the
lowest setting.

[Rugen moves a lever from zero to one. Water starts
flowing, powering the machine. Wesley writhes in
pain.]

As you know, the concept of the suction pump is
centuries old. Well, really that's all this is
except that instead of sucking water, I'm sucking
life. I've just sucked one year of your life away. I
might one day go as high as five, but I really don't
know what that would do to you, so let's just start
with what we have. What did this do to you? Tell me.
And remember, this is for posterity, so be honest.
How do you feel?

Westley: < whimpers >

Count Rugen:Interesting.

.

[Scene: Pit of Despair. Humperdinck is over Westley]

Humperdinck:You truly love each other, and so you might have
been truly happy. Not one couple in a century has
that chance, no matter what the storybooks say. So I
think no man in a century will suffer as greatly as
you will.

[Humperdinck takes the control of The Machine, and
puts it to the highest setting]

Count Rugen:Not to 50!!!!

Westley: < assorted groans and wails >

.

[Scene: Outside entrance to Pit of Despair. The two have stopped
the Albino, who is pushing a wheelbarrow]

Inigo: Where is the man in black? You get that from this
grove, yes? Fezzik, jog his memory.

Fezzik: < bonks Albino and leaves him out cold >

I'm sorry, Inigo. I didn't mean to jog him so hard.
Inigo?

[Inigo draws his sword]

Inigo: Father, I have failed you for twenty years. Now our
misery can end. Somewhere, somewhere close by is a
man who can help us. I cannot find him alone. I need
you. I need you to guide my sword. Please, guide my
sword.

[Inigo stumbles around, led by the sword. The sword
hits a tree. Inigo leans against the tree, pressing
the hidden knot]

[Scene: Pit of Despair]

Fezzik: He's dead.

Inigo: Is just not fair.

.

[Scene: Pit of Despair]

Inigo: Well, the Montoyas have never taken defeat easily.
Come along, Fezzik. Bring the body.

Fezzik: The body?

Inigo: Have you any money?

Fezzik: I have a little.

Inigo: I just hope it's enough to buy a miracle, that's all.
So, yeah, even with the Albino dead, I guess Rugen and Humperdinck are still able to use the pit for torture. I just don't know how this translates to a game of Mafia. Wildcard died from stab wounds, not from being tortured.

Also, everyone keeps using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Yeah, this post was going to be more about this game, but I spent too much time re-reading the Princess Bride script.

It's possible that the Machine "kills" people, but they can be revived by Miracle Max.

Hi, just thought I'd check in--sorry for the silence, etc. It's a combination of the game being a bit larger than I'm used to and me not putting enough time into it, resulting in me having a touch of difficulty catching up.

I don't really have anything to add to the analysis, but really--a ticking tree? It's too tempting.

I admit that I had voted for both of you. It was a case of bad judgment, in the case of Amy. We can't prove anything regarding you, but I'm ready to offer an apology for the swift voting.

Also, I wonder what's going to happen now that Matthias has messed with the tree.

I'm going to bet nothing will happen, purely because I don't think it was planned for.

The tree, in a rather tree-like fashion, did not react at all to Matthias' tentative prodding.

The ticking, however, continued on.

It's knot like it was that shocking, though.

I'm so sorry.
