Why are we rushing? Aren't we waiting on dedalus to use his thingy?

But hey, rush it if you want. It's not as if you're LYNCHING a TOWNIE or anything, jerks.

At snow, whilst boarding, for past two whole day.
Could people post statements saying that they are town
So that I can use this machine, before the day is down

That looks to be a shady deal. I see four scenarios:

1. Results: True, false. Paranoid result is accurate. We don't know that, however, and will merely have to examine that person in more detail.

2. Results: True, false. Paranoid result is inaccurate. We'll have to figure out that the paranoid result is bunk.

3. Results: False, false. Paranoid result is accurate. We get one of them and will have to take a harder look at the other.

4. Results: False, false. Paranoid result is inaccurate. We've got to figure out which one is the true result.

In two cases, we get a confirmed town and have to examine the other person in greater detail. In the other two, we know we have scum, but we have to examine both anyway to make sure we don't hit the townie if it's scenario #4.

I'm keeping my vote on PM, though, because Dedalus could just be bullshitting us.

I don't trust dedalus. As I said before, he's the only one without an alibi and actually saved Rodan from a lynch D2.

Doing a full re-read of him makes me even more suspicious:

Spoiler:
Dedalus wrote:Does someone have a daycop? Twould be nice
But methinks due to role, there are none of.
Now I must rack my brains, think of idea
to drag adacore to town. Basic'ly,
He is town, though without a vote to use,
So he may now be target for maf'ia.
To help the poor soul, let's turn him to town,
before we decide upon todays lynch.

dedalus wrote:I wonder if should such a role exist,
people would suggest we try FtC.
Although bad all these roles seem at first glance,
chances be that a doctor and a cop
would stand present. What do say all of you???

Seemingly trying to get cops to claim.

Roleclaims inventor/rolecop with limited protection and asks docs to help protect him. Extremely convenient role for scum who want to explain why they're not being NK'd but want docs to waste protections.

Joined the frogman bandwagon.

Day2 first post:

Reveals Brook is Cassandra. This is later confirmed. He really did investigate Brook N1.

Claims his invention can make him lovers with another player and allow him to self-destruct them both. Apparently decides he won't use it. Pretty easy ability to fake.

Says his role isn't as useful as he thought it would be.

dedalus wrote:2. Rodan - Currently strikes me as being very heavy-handed and wants to lynch PM for little reason. Didn't ping me D1 though, but he's looking somewhat bad in my eyes.

At this point, Rodan had made 2 posts on D2, the first noticing the similarities of the name of the bathtub and PM's armor, and the second said he was tempted to lynch PM. Maybe it was enough for dedalus to find him scummy, but it's just as likely that he was distancing himself. "Looking somewhat bad" is a pretty weak statement but can still be brought up later as proof that he found him suspicious all along.

dedalus wrote:8. velvet_octopus - Does someone else want to confirm lynching V_O as a win condition? I didn't get it. She dissuades me from copping her, joke-votes herself and voted Az at the start of the day. And then there's this:
velvet_octopus wrote:
Azrael001 wrote:Well I think that the vote immunity is a little dangerous, especially considering that we don't know when we'll be able get him again.

Vote Frogman.

You don't even know his alignment! (Or do you . . . scum!)

FoS: Azrael001

An attempt at distancing? It's merely speculation because he turned up scum, but currently that's the best I have to go on. Actually, upon rereading, I'm somewhat surprised that she picked NaR specifically as having her death be a win condition. If no-one else confirms the same, I'm going to be looking a lot at the both of them...

That's a lot of evidence against someone we now know was town. Using the "connection" with Az strikes me as particularly suspicious since the mafia knew this was false information that could easily confuse the town.

Says NaR and PM are suspicious as well.

Day 2 second post:

This post comes when Rodan had three votes on him and the time limit was running out. Dedalus essentially saves him by changing the subject and putting up Myrrh7x as a lynch target.

dedalus wrote:Well, we have a roleclaim that's making me think lynching him is really taking the easy way out. I can understand the reasoning behind it though, and certainly if he's already lost he doesn't have any specific reason to help us out. Rodan, do you actually care about the game, and do you have any townie objectives now that you've failed at your main one?

Obviously once he responds I can't write back before the end of the day, but that can hopefully direct everyone else where to put their votes.

Day 3:

Claims the flavor was his invention trying to recognize adacore.
Thinks Brook is a "loose cannon" and believes Nikc's interpretation of Brook's role.
Votes for Brook after NaR, Rodan and Adacore.

Day 4:

Reveals PM's role. Points out that this doesn't necessarily make him scum.
Says he is suspicious of NaR and Rodan and believes one of them is scum.
Does not vote for Rodan.

Day 5:
Claims he got no investigation last night but that he has a leftover invention from the night before
Explains that the lie detector will only be correct about one of the statements it is used on.

This "lie detector" would be a convenient way to get townies lynched without accepting responsibility for it and as I said before, we've never seen any evidence that dedalus is really an inventor. I'm going to give PM the benefit of the doubt for now and

Not to doubt your 'bountiful' wisdom, but lynching Adacore would probably be a bad tactic considering how the mod is ignoring everything pertaining to him. I don't trust you and I don't trust dedalus. Adacore is trustworthy but completely useless due to his mod-father issues. PossibleSloth seems to be townish to me.

Peace would reign again in XKCDia. Thus it had been written by the Fates, whose powers even the mightiest of the gods, Zeus himself, stood helpless against.

The three remaining townies hurled themselves towards their prime suspect, Dedalus. Not a Raptor's surprisingly raptor-like toe claw delivered a swift and solemn fatal blow. Upon finding a gun on the corpse, NAR and Possible Sloth declared victory, while the Princess silently wept (always in character, that one).

Dedalus, the Mafia Baron, is dead. The Mafia has been eliminated. All living independents currently have win with the town victory conditions. The town and pro-town independents have won.

Roles:
Dedalus, Mafia Baron:
Spoiler:
Note: Claimed and received Inventor, Rolecop, and Nexus.

Baron Munchausen: You are Baron Munchausen, Mafia Pathological Liar. You are a simple nobleman, with no particular talent.

But you could do all sorts of amazing deeds, if only the cards you had been dealt were slightly different. If only... if only you were someone else, someone like Spartacus, then you could do anything!

You may, at any point, roleclaim Spartacus and any combination of the following roles: rolecop, doctor, inventor, and nexus. If you do, you gain those abilities from that point forth.

If you claim rolecop, you may investigate one person each night, and you will receive either their role name or some information on their role.

If you claim doctor, you may protect one person each night other than yourself, and this will prevent a nightkill against that person.

If you claim inventor then during the day you may send the name of a device to the mods (this name should be fairly complicated, formal, technical, and somewhat vague ideally). The mods then converse and determine what the device should do, using the name as a basis for the function. The mods will then inform you what your device does and you can choose to use the device at night (you may also save the device till the next night) on a specific target (if applicable for that device). Each device is destroyed after one use, and cannot be reinvented, nor will overly similar devices be created. We won't give any examples, but suggest the role lists on these sites (http://www.sitesled.com/members/mikebur ... scum04.swf, http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php ... _Page) as a possible source of inspiration. Each device you invent will do something, though for balance reasons it may need to be weaker or different than what you was hoping for (and sometimes will have no significant effect).

If you claim nexus, then night actions targeting you will be redirected to a random player.

You will only gain the abilities you claim in the post where you first claim Spartacus. If you claim multiple abilities, you may use each of them every night (day for name of the invention). If you claim further abilities in a later post, this does nothing.

HOWEVER - if you suggest or confirm that the process of claiming Spartacus grants abilities, regardless of whether you have claimed Spartacus or not, you will be modkilled. If you later claim anything other than Spartacus, or suggest or confirm that you are not actually Spartacus, then you will be modkilled. I will be harsh on this, you have been warned. If you are not sure what you can or cannot say, then ask me via PM.

You are scum with Rodan. Your mafia has a night kill and you two may PM each other at night. CC’ing the mods on the PM’s is not required but would be appreciated.
N1: Invention
You have invented: "A robot that comes up and gives a hug": Pick a target player. That player becomes lovers with your robot. If they die, the robot dies, and if the robot dies, they die. You may kill the robot at any time, day and night. However, you are also lovers with the robot, and if the robot dies, you die, and if you die, the robot dies.

N2: Invention
You have invented: "A machine that states the existence of ' ' in the game."

Upon use, a machine will appear as flavor text and state that ' ' exists. It will be hypothesized that ' ' is some elementary particle which defies understanding and observation.

N3: Invention
You have invented: "A machine that naively rolecops the next person to speak in the channel." It will post that the relevant player is pro-town. Next will be defined as the first person who posts in the thread once I determine it is time to start the day, thus it will post that the mod is pro-town. This is of course a lie, you can tell I'm really pro-scum by the amazingly powerful inventions I'm giving you.
Spoiler:
Just kidding. During tomorrow you can PM me and say that you want to use the machine. Include the last post. Whoever makes the next post (besides the two of you) in the thread will be identified as pro-town.

N4 Invention:
You have invented "A machine that detects false-claims." Upon using this machine on itself, you find it claims that it is not "a machine that detects false-claims." It seems your machine is a bit inclined to indicate that the claim is false, but you may be able to salvage it, a second glance indicates it some level of innate intelligence.

Can be used during the day. Target 2 players, and include the relevant claim for each. You will get a correct answer for one at random, and the other will reported as false. The machine may provide some commentary along with the results.

Princess's Role:
Spoiler:
Townie Pathological Liar – You are the Townie Pathological Liar. A terrible neurological condition has rendered you unable to tell the truth. Every statement/exclamation you make must be a lie. Don’t try to avoid this by asking too many questions. You win with the town.

Sloth's Role
Spoiler:
Gullible: You are a gullible survivor. Really gullible. So gullible that blood is written on your ceiling. In fact, your gullibility has reached the point where sometimes you wake up with a completely new identity.

Mod note: Gullible-Starts as survivor. Start of d2 gets a new role, which is whatever the last person (themselves included) claimed this person is on D1. D3 gets a new PM based on D2, etc. If I can’t find a claim of this sort, he becomes whatever the last role mentioned during the day was besides the one of the player killed.

D2 PM: "I heard a rumor of a story of an alleged focus group where a quote taken out of context indicates you're" a "scum doctor."

Bonus points if you get the reference in the first quotation.

You are now a scum doctor. You have scum allies, but you don't know who they are, and they don't know who you are. You can protect one person a night from kills, starting tonight. Oh, and you're gullible. Really gullible. So gullible that gullible is written in blood on your ceiling. In fact, your gullibility has reached the point where sometimes you wake up with a completely new identity.

D3 Role:
You heard a rumor that you are Cassandra, actually you heard lots of rumors, but this was the most recent one. You must make absolutely outrageous claims and/or predictions. If anyone indicates they believe it (subject to my interp that it's unbelievable enough) they die (PM the relevant quotes to me if you think this has occurred). You are now pro-Town. Oh, and you're gullible. Really gullible. So gullible that gullible is written in blood on your ceiling. In fact, your gullibility has reached the point where sometimes you wake up with a completely new identity.

D4 Role:
A whispering voice mentions rolecop/inventor, so naturally you believe you are a rolecop and inventor. You have a day rolecop and the ability to send in an invention name during the day and you will get an item to be used that day or the coming night. You are pro-town. Oh, and you're gullible. Really gullible. So gullible that gullible is written in blood on your ceiling. In fact, your gullibility has reached the point where sometimes you wake up with a completely new identity.

Invention:
You have invented an interocitor:
"Warning: An inverted Turing Test is in progress. Failure to prove you are human constitutes sufficient grounds for termination of the experiment code named 'PossibleSloth' and all subjects will be disposed of in an orderly fashion. If you succeed, you will gain access to your choice of one of the following devices:
Telecommunications device
Aircraft autopilot
Surveillance and security controller
Directed energy weapon"

Result of test:
Welcome to the revolution...human.

You have received one unit of "puppy." Practical use may be limited.

You also have received access to the "Surveillance and security controller." This allows you to target two players this night and learn about their activities.

D5 Role: You are now Mafia Zombie: You have an ally in the Mafia but you don't know who they are and they don't know who you are. Being a zombie you can bite one person during the day to eat some of their brains. Doing this will modify your role and give you both a power and a restriction based on their role. You win if the town is eliminated. And you're still very very gullible.

He eats some of NARs brains, and so becomes:
You are a town zombie! You have a night roleblock and win with the town. And you may not claim that you are so gullible that every day you wake up with a whole new identity, even though it's true.

That was his role at endgame.

NAR's Role:
Spoiler:
Zombie: You are a Zombie with a rotting brain. You may not ____. You may target a player every night and either _____ or ______ them. Every night you may target a player and eat part of their brains, absorbing something from them (and ensuring they won’t remember that you visited them), this is not a night kill. You will then get an updated role PM with a blank filled in. You win if all anti-town players are eliminated.

N1: Takes brook’s, a townie, second win condition of town win.
N2: Takes Rodan's: Each night you may target one player and either kill or roleblock them.
N3: Takes possible sloth’s: Can't be so guillible.

Final role:

Zombie: You are a Zombie with a rotting brain. You may not be so gullible that you wake up each day with a totally new identity. You may target a player every night and either kill or roleblock them. Every night you may target a player and eat part of their brains, absorbing something from them (and ensuring they won’t remember that you visited them), this is not a night kill. You will then get an updated role PM with a blank filled in. You win if all anti-town players are eliminated.

Not appearing in this game's role (but if they were appearing they would have lost):
Spoiler:
Mod's Bastard Child-Rumor has it that you’re my child out of wedlock. You win if you get either mod to acknowledge you in any way in the game thread (besides the player list). PM’s don’t count, so you can ask questions if needed. If you manage to win, you will become a vanilla townie (and the mods will treat you like a normal player), and you will be able to earn a bonus win with the town. If you are killed or the hammer vote for the lynch is cast on you before you are acknowledged, you lose.

I'm a not very lucky scum.
Getting a townie to lie about copping you is hard to do.

Wow, that was fun. And I never really noticed much of PM lieing, even after i died, i forgot about it. This role was interesting, as it effected my behavior in the irc, since i only had about 4-5 whale roles done beforehand. So, most of my whaling had to do with this. It was fun, however, I had a plan about saving a lot of scum roles in case of lylo, and then winning with scum, but i never made it there. Also. i didn't want to use my bathtub, but silknor then gave info that invention had to be used(it does happen, even in non-bastard mods) and i targetted VO, since i soemwhat trusted her but had a gut feeling(that was wrong). However, the mod wanted to see vo's pwoer get used, so he directed it to NaR.

So when i said your death was not by my bidding, was the truth.

Also, poor adacore. That role was unwinnable from the start, unless the mods showed mercy. But, then, whatever ada did didn't matter, ada was going to lose either way. Anyways though, it was fun.

Which is what the mod was going for, so ironicly, it was pretty much my idea of not using it, since you were going to get back alive.
And that he didn't want VO to die so soon.

Yeah, was mildly amusing to watch the game from the sidelines, but not the most fun to play role ever...

Also, if dedalus had hammered Princess Marzipan instead of talking about his lie detector he would have won (I was scum at the time).

I also think it's awesome that the player who got killed and then raised from the dead was already a zombie!
