Okay guys, I'm just going to get this out of the way right now.

Vote: Not A Raptor

Why? Three reasons:

1) His activity has been shaky at best. Other than the occasional spike of activity, you could almost forget that he is playing. This game is already stalling due to lurkers - we can't let him know that his behavior is unnoticed any longer.

2) He basically came out of nowhere a pushed hard for a PE lynch. And when we finally lynched the dude, what did he flip as? Homestarmy. And nowhere has he attempted to defend that lynch, either. I don't think he has even posted since then.

3) Remember that mega huge post he made defending Van? Well, when Van was eventually nightkilled, what did she filp as? Scum.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I think that Not A Raptor is the scummiest player that is still alive. Hence, why I want to lynch him.

Also - I don't have any idea about the weird flavor. Perhaps the mod went insane? :?

Well, I think I know what it is, and it's not good...

Also, does anyone know if the replacement situation around here has improved at all? My heart isn't really in this game anymore, but I'd rather not hurt you guys by being modkilled. I can keep posting and all, but... I've kinda stopped caring enough to do the work of readthroughs, etc. Sorry...

I didn't even know NaR was in this game...

Greenlover, there's quite a few lurkers who haven't posted in forever and a half. Why did you pick NaR?

The Virus in the video was sent to Strongbad and trashed his computer. However, our Homestar make the same "lunix" joke about the virus and the format of the virus is exactly the same so I'm pretty sure Homestar knew what the virus was. I think if he was forced to reply to the virus he would have mentioned something about it in his reply email, so I'm going to assume he willingly activated it and it is therefore a good thing. Although he probably didn't know exactly what it would do.

That kinda looks like it was a flavor obscured public cop message. Maybe we should try and decode the message?

For those who weren't in the game, they were codeword-triggered hints from the mod as to roles that were in a game. For instance, someone would say "lynch" and trigger a readout. It wasn't connected to a role, and there wasn't really any way to connect the information to players (other than reading it and saying "oh, that's me").

Do I think that's what's going on here? Probably not, it's D3. Do I know why it's showing up? Nope. Could be someone with a flavory power who remembers SMCM; could be bored mods (though I doubt the latter, there's other places they could be directing creativity). Is it accurate? No idea. Could it still be whatever Krong said? IDK. So, uh, yeah.

Hey.

My guess is that there has been a 'reboot' of some sort (because of the virus), which allows dead characters to post or something, but because of the virus, they're messed up now.
The problem is... who submitted that message? I mean, it's a direct copy of the virus, which would mean someone who has a good amount of flavour knowledge, a person who is related to who sent the virus, or the mods playing trickses with us (to spur activity? I wouldn't be surprised at this point).

It would be interesting to see what happens if people sent emails to Homestar again... though it would be dangerous considering there is a virus going around. So maybe not.

On an unrelated note... this was a large game with 21 people in the beginning. So a scum team of around 4 or five are probably still there. Unsure about cult, though. I don't like cults, so I hope there isn't one. Not sure if it would exist, or if the BL would be cult. I would think that they would be SK and be filed under independent.

And does anyone find this:

I knew I was going to get called out on that. It's just a reference to the fact that sblub was trying to figure out my posting restriction. I never explained my restriction in spoilers either so he may still be trying to figure it out for fun. I promise it's not related to the virus.

I forgot Greenlover is dead, that is super crazy. I'm guessing the mods asked for someone outside the game to make a bizarre accusatory post at someone else also not in the game. In the video referred to by Krong the virus messes with reality quite a lot and doesn't stop until the infected computer is shot. In that case the computer was strongbads but it seems here that HR's comp was infected. I'm starting to think that someone with a lot of flavor knowledge sent the virus just to see if anything would happen, then HR answered it as a joke. If that's the case it's probably just the mods having fun and nothing actually significant is going to happen because of it.

Chandani why did you make such a strong accusation against Housedog yesterday but not vote for him? And then not post anything for the rest of the day?

I wouldn't be so sure, as shown by the eating mechanic - that would seem to be a joke as well, but it had negative consequences for town (although nobody seems to have utilised the email mechanic). I tend to think that it may have been an ability by a player, disguised as flavour (although not necessarily negative).

Also, it seems that who/whatever caused the virus occurred in a 2 and a half hour space (between 18:38 and 21:08 on the 9th and 10th respectively, UTC) - it seems that we are looking for somebody online in these times.

Chandani wrote:or the mods playing trickses with us (to spur activity? I wouldn't be surprised at this point).

Of course, this is also a possibility. (cellery, goochlifta and tastelikecoke haven't posted at all D3, and nor had weiyaoli or chandani at the time)

Krong is the only one who has really demonstrated extensive flavor knowledge, but I don't think he would rush up to give us the key to his "fun" immediately after doing it.

Maybe it's part of a huge "NaR should die" scheme he's plotting, but greenlover's dead and speaking game related things (that isn't really game related) while dead is bad... (or is it a she)

I'm clueless about the flavor. I'm one of those people who only tangentially knows HR, but the virus flash movie is hilarious. Maybe there's a possibility for lurker-busting bastardry? Don't be mad, I hope that actually happens.

What I meant, was, for example:

someone's role pm wrote:...you may unleash a virus by emailing the code [xxx] to either homestar or strong bad, with effect [yyy]...

Or something of this general idea.

Oh, and in my last post, ignore the "and the 10th respectively" (timezone confusion)

Oookaay... Seems like a bunch of stuff is happening. Multiple kills, maybe modkills of inactive players but I would have expected some names of the dead? Seems like everyone is afraid to post next in case there's some consequence, but I'm going to suck it up, I doubt the mods are quite so cruel.

7. John Citizen (3) (i recall being annoyed by his general lurkiness)
8. Krong (2) (little bit worred)
9. weiyaoli (1) (grr)
10. mister k DotProduct (1) (grr)
11. mpolo (6) (okay atm)

Sorry for not having been here yesterday.

I would put a double "grr" on Cellery, simply because he popped in, avoided a modkill, and popped out into full lurkage. I'm almost tempted to vote him simply for that, but I'm not sure that's optimal play.

I am assuming that the weirdness in the flavor (flu shots and prizes) is directly related to the virus on Homestar's computer. If we hadn't killed Hausdog, we could have had him eat the computer, but otherwise, I don't know how we can deal with a runaway virus. Unless somebody has access to Edgarware (though it seems to count viruses more than remove them).

I have the feeling that it wasn't the best idea to go into the alleyway, BoomFrog. It seems that this could easily be a trap set by scum. On the other hand, it could just be a coincidence, or the mods playing trickses to encourage activity. I'll probably do some analysis tomorrow of all the players, but advise that others form their own opinions rather than having each person analysed once.

Also, this might be a bit pot/kettle, but:

Overall, they have been the most helpful on flavour, but that isn't necessarily townie. Did pick several people's roles though, but only town or independant. I am really not too sure, I want to lean town, but with their flavour knowledge, they would know how to play this game as scum, and could be stringing us along.

Some things I noticed in my read-through:

Ameretrifle pinged me a little bit: With the vote on Wooy they said "I don't care if they defend themselves." As Wooy flipped town, that seems very suspicious.
Gooch has soft-claimed Coach Z, weiy has soft claimed Strong Sad.
DBC was outed by Krong as Crackotage, and then was killed by BL. Coincidence?
Someone has claimed through HR email the last Cheat commando. It seems somewhat likely to me that BL might be a SK that wins if they get all the cheat commando's. Which means they are 1 kill away from winning.

Whew, time for bed now!

Err, to the best of my memory, Hausdog (why do you call him Housedog, anyway?) attempted to do what we asked but was blocked by the mods: while it could have been him faking it, it seems just as likely that Hausdog was blocked because maybe he was trying to eat something intangible (ie a kill).
As for why I didn't post.. it was finals, then family, then vacation (which prevented me from posting all of last week) which limited posting, plus lack of interest as well. So sorry.
I didn't get your vote at the end, but I never got around to posting before my vacation, which prevented me from posting at all.

As for the prize, it reminds of those ads on websites which link to scam stuff, but at the same time it reminds me of that xkcd comic where the guy was legitly giving out a car to his millionith visitor but no one bought it. Because of the virus, I'm going for the former, so I'm kind of suspicious of BF's sudden decision to do something without any attempt at discussion, though it appears that he thought that people were being chickens or something.

I'll look at GoP's analysis later. For an FYI: I might not be posting much because of surgery things, or they might not make sense. So sorry if the latter happens.

I'm really sorry guys... kinda trying to figure out if I'm dropping out of this game and postponing Myst indefinitely, or going to kick back into high gear for both. I'd have dropped out a long time ago if not for the fact that I hate it when people do that in games... although that's mainly because they signed up to play and weren't actually able to. But I was able to play when I signed up... about 4 1/2 months ago.

In the meantime, since I'm surprised no one else has said anything about it since then...

MODS: Is greenlover still in the game? Or to be less inquisitive... are you aware of his recent post?

I have to say I'm a bit annoyed by the idea that I'm outing town/indy roles from picking up on posting restrictions or whatever, because when that's happened it's been for a good reason. Thinking specifically about DBC here... he was showing a rhyming restriction, so it was worth questioning if that was a legitimate townie restriction rather than something scummy or faked. And anyway, it's only bad to out power townie roles.

I don't have any ideas for scum hunting right now, except to say that I feel there's been a lot of bandwagoning in the votes so far. Since Hausdog really was indy and not part of some Municipality faction, there might be mafia (On Point Kings or Blue Laser) who were overeager to jump aboard. I'll probably look at that if I decide I'm playing on.

Almost 24 hrs since my post, and only 2 in the meantime? Cmon people, don't let this game die further from modkills!

Ok, going through the player list again:(copied from ameretrifle and updated)

1. cellery (0) (grr)
2. Chandani (1) (grrr)
3. Dr Ug cjdrum ameretrifle (6)
4. eajikBoomFrog (7) (feeling pretty good)
5. goochlifta (0) (grr) - Claimed Coach Z
6. GopherofPern (5) (need to look back, i remember that there's something there I've forgotten)
7. John Citizen (4) (i recall being annoyed by his general lurkiness)
8. Krong (4) (little bit worred)
9. weiyaoli (1) (grr) - Claimed Strong Sad
10. mister k DotProduct (1) (grr)
11. mpolo (7) (okay atm)
12. tastelikecoke (1) (ohhailurker)

I am interested in the results of Boomfrog's and Krongs actions/questions.

I believe we are facing a SK as well as the remnants of the On Point Kings. The SK would be Blue Laser, which I would believe have a win condition of taking out the cheat commando's. Evidence - All the kill flavours, and the first kill was on DBC/Crackotage, who was outed by Krong.

That leaves the list of characters thus:

Homestar
Strong Bad (OPK)
Strong Sad (Gooch)
Marzipan
Coach Z (Weiyaoli)
The Poopsmith
Homsar
Stinkoman (Vig/SK)
Blue Laser (SK)
Last cheat commando (Mason?)

Which leaves 2 unknown. It is possible that BL is a mafia team of it's own, but I think it's unlikely. Of these, Strong Bad is obviously On Point Kings. Homestar is obviously town. Others I'm not so sure of. Poopsmith I would wager is independent, possibly allied with KOT somehow. Stinkoman possibly town, as they did kill The Cheat. Marzipan i would say is town, due to being HR's gf. Strong Sad, Coach Z and Homsar I don't know very well, but I would lean town for them. Last cheat commando was probably a mason.

So to sum: 1 SK, 1 Mafia, 1 Mason?, 1 Vig/SK, 1 Independant, 2 Town (unknown powers), and 5 more unknown. Maybe Krong can give more help there. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a lyncher of some type. Unfortunately we dont get any information on what actions dead players have, so its hard to predict what we might still have. I would guess there would be cops and docs, but we can't be sure if they're dead or not.

Flavourblind as I am, I can say this in relation to the rolespec:

Observations: There have been two kills each night. Flavour suggests blue laser is an SK. A confirmed scum faction member (Cheat, OPK) was killed last night.

From this, I suggest that either:

1. OPK killed slbub N2, BL killed Mavketl N2. Stinkoman irrelevant in this case.

2. One of OPK or BL was roleblocked, the other killing slbub; Stinkoman killed Mavketl.

3. BL killed slbub, OPK tried to kill Stinkoman, Stinkoman PGO.

4. BL killed slbub, OPK tried to kill someone unrelated, Stinkoman killed Mavketl, interrupting the kill in the process.

Flavour should help to discern the more likely cases, but I am powerless here. There's probably other cases that I am missing as well.

Also, I feel that 3 non-town kills (excluding Trogdor) seems unlikely without the presence of an accurate roleblocker, as there have only been 2 kills each night. Therefore, if Stinkoman has a kill, it is more likely a vig-kill as there is not usually any good reason for scum or SK to withhold their kill, but this is not true of a vig.

@ameretrifle: ohai (or you mean O Hail Lurker?), generally my posts where few and far between, generally it's the whole Not Urgent feeling of the whole game.

Chandani: hmm, surgery things? You aren't posting in Mafia in the middle of a surgery right?
cellery is definitely modkill-dodging his way, I wish he gains some interest in posting.
GoP wrote:Strong Sad (Gooch)

This is wrong.
GoP wrote:Strong Sad (Weiyaoli)

Coach Z (Coach Z)
weiyaoli acts more directed and suspicious than goochlifta, who actively lurks instead.

slbub is proven by flavor to be killed by Blue Laser. That leaves a dilemma for Mavketl's death, because OPK's kill is nowhere in sight.
I foresee possibilities here: OPK's kill backfired and kill the one who sent the kill, because of a town powar (redirector? one-shot-ablative armor? Stinkoman?);
SK/vig Stinkoman sk/vig'd the mafias, and as for OPK's kill, that's one mystery, it definitely failed though;

well, from these choices, I believe it's likely a SK/Vig. Stinkoman is quite an active character, rather than passive. Maybe it has to do with a Japanese cartoon power being activated. It would make sense that Stinkoman will disable the kill by defeating Mav, since SB is probably the email writer, and the cheat the killer. SM being a goon in essence would probably be the goon...

@TLC: No :P I posted after my surgery, which went way better than expected.
I'm pretty flavour-blind on Stinkoman: why are we thinking that he's Vig/PGO again? Is it that double deuce thing mentioned in Mav's kill?

Oh, and I think the part of the list goes like this:

And GoP: Who is Homsar? Does Homestar have children or something, or is it a typo of sorts?

Quick post just to set bumkings trait.

JC: Your rehashing things we've already discussed. 1, and 2 are very unlikely. 4 is at least a new theory but usually if a Killed gets killed wouldn't both kills go through? 3 is most likely. OPK kill killed someone on OPK therefore it was PGOed or redirected.

@Chandani: Double Deuce is Stinkoman's signature move. Therefore he was directly involved in Mav's death somehow. Homesar is a separate character from Homestar.

@GoP: I doubt Poopsmith is in the game. If he was then he would have been allied with KoT and then KoT wouldn't not have flipped independent, he'd have a faction name.

Lastly, I feel like I should say this now to reduce the wine. I didn't want to make any sort of claim because I don't want to help scum figure out who Homestar is by elimination, although I suppose my posting restriction eliminates me anyway. I am not on any of the character lists people are suggesting.

AFAIK Poopsmith is still a major character. I can imagine them being a 'lover' for KOT, but still independant. Of course, this is just going off the main character page on the wiki, so they might indeed not be in the game.

That second paragraph there pings me abit. We have no information to suggest that HR has super powers compared to the rest of town, aside from the emails, which, while helpful, are not gamebreaking in any way. Then you go on to say your posting restriction eliminates you anyway? Why would you say that?

Interesting that 2 people so far have claimed the 2 unknown roles. Of course, we may be wrong about the character list, but I would wager it's only off by 1 or 2 characters. Just letting you know, I AM on the list ;)

Dear Homestar,
Stinkoman here! I finally found and challenged one of the On Point Kings! Another point for the HOMESTARMY! I challenged the Cheat, and I won! If any more of the On Point Kings want to fight, just give me a call! My number is 784656-686.

Just the email power is a huge boon to town. Being able to publicly claim any cop results or the like without exposing yourself enhances all of town's info gathering powers. I assume the main characters have better powers then the more obscure characters. If this is incorrect we should have done a mass claim on D1, which is why I assume it is correct, because Mods design games to punish mass claims usually.

How do lovers work? I thought they generally knew who each other were and died when the other died. That obviously didn't happen unless KoT's unusual "death" circumvented that somehow.

Woot, typos in a typo correction :(

Stinkoman getting points for Homestarmy? Stinkoman's a japanese port of Strong Bad, although he's essentially modeled after Rockman, and in that sense he maybe town, but he can be scum or indie too. Homestar's also unsure of stinkoman's alignment.

I hope it proves that Stinkoman is an SK/Vig at least. I doubt the email's credible since anyone can send emails.
