Sorry, my second post ever, and I had to just quote Mr. Young. It's weird how the political-correctness of the usage of maids has waxed and waned over the years. Mr. Young got quite the negative response when this first came out, whereas seeing Molly Maid and equivalents now-a-days is quite common.

Completely off-topic. Again, Sorry.

And I needed some reason to post to this completely epic thread...

I shall allow it this Time due to the epicness the poem contributed.

456/492. More new faces popping up to congratulate BlitzGirl and share their stories of traveling through time. What an enjoyable period to roam through. :D I can't be far behind now, the atmosphere of this thread is still strong in those pastposts...

Small wall of replies (in the hope that this mini-wall actually gets read :P - I have no such illusions about my full walls, it would take you guys forever. Except BlitzGirl. But hey, she's BlitzGirl.):

Those of us whose lives technically last forever find them quite useful. There is so much wisdom that can be gained in a few millennia. Although nobody ever listens, so I'm not sure what the point is. I mean, humans have been recording history for how long now, and look where they are now. All that wisdom, mostly unused...

I dared. I even dared to search it when the one you linked was blocked. I died... laughing. Then again, I thoroughly enjoy "Never Gonna Give You Up" so... I'm not normal. :mrgreen: (Ironically I liked that version better than the "official" wreck-up StratPlayer posted.)

Well of course it's small compared to the very big sea, it's just... well, I live in England, we don't have any really big rivers. I guess I'm not used to them.

We must add the total number of drinks per frame to the book of time pages.

Edit: Can someone please work on the book of time pages?

As we all know, the sea is big, and the river is small.
To put things in perspective: according to Wikipedia, the sea contains about 97.2% of all water on earth, while 0.65% is in rivers plus lakes, ground and vapour.
The sea is BIG.
The river is small.

When two frames are identical without mscha-style pixel comparisons, take a drink once when the similarity phase begins, and once when it ends. (e.g. if frames A through G are nearly identical, take a drink at frame B and frame H)

I like Megan's immediate reaction, it seems to be surprise mixed with amusement. I predict the next frame will have her with her hands over her mouth, stifling a laugh, while Cueball grumbles and climbs out of the river.

It sorta reminds me of the instructions for haircoloring. They say, "for stubborn grey hair, add 10 minutes," and I'm like, "ok, are they saying ALL grey hairs are stubborn, or are they referring to the grey hairs that are particularly petulant?"

Dude, did you know that they make earbuds with a built-in remote that allows you to control your MP3 player!?!

Who knows? Maybe grey hairs are sentient, and some do in fact have attitude problems...

460/492. Megan and Cueball walk in total silence (well, not quite - broken just before I reached this Newpage), causing marvel at the depth of their relationship. The celebration for BlitzGirl continues - I propose it continues for as long as her quest was.

Meanwhile I'm roughly halfway caught up, and have found my first signpost! Also updated the quotes wiki to clear out my tab-bar, and found that we're up to 150 quotes. Again I say, all of you stop being so quotable!

Wall of replies:
Spoiler:

```~~**~* !whirly exit time ripple to page 293! *~**~~```
---Fade to white---and cut scene!
```~~**~* !whirly time ripple! *~**~~```

There, I seemed perhaps a bit confused, but isn't that just sooo past-me?! Heh, gotta love him.

Oh shit! I forgot the Knights Temporal Manual leaves out the operation of the Whistle for security purposes. Hmmm... Maybe if I leave a message for BlitzGirl at a key moment in the past, she can be the Whistle Bearer until I can figure out what to do...

```~~**~* !whirly exit time ripple to page 255! *~**~~```
:shock:
You... made a... double time loop? Isn't that undefined, like dividing by 0?
Purplepants77 wrote:6Is Time a phoenix? If so, does that mean a Time Vulture's worst choice of prey and sworn enemy would be a Time Phoenix?
Hello, fellow past-traveler! Nice to see I'm not alone in here... and ofc BlitzGirl blazed such a clear path for us to follow!
I don't think "Time Phoenix" is necessary - just phoenix. After all, a Time Vulture waits endlessly for its victim to die, which a phoenix stubbornly refuses to (properly) do. Although if you wanted the Time prefix, I guess every phoenix is a Time phoenix? :mrgreen:
Congrats on your escape! When I saw your post about TVTropes I was worried we might have to send a search party after you.
UnhappyReader wrote:I don't know about the others here, but that was a giant let-down for me. Over a month of literally building up followed by a weekend of fade-out with a tease of the girl dragging something and then a quick-cut to what appears to be a new place and story. It feels like Randall had no idea where he was going with the first book in a series so just gave up on that one and moved on to writing the next book, but not before leaving one more mystery to taunt or torture his audience.
He'll tie all the loose ends together. Don't you worry about it. Not sure how many previous XKCD comics you've seen, but Randall's genius is not to be underestimated. (By which I mean, don't estimate it at all. Your odds of success are roughly the same as your odds of calculating Bruce Schneier' fighting ability.)
EDIT: LOL. Zul-Gurub ftw. I meant C h u c k N o r r i s.
juliancolton wrote:I love how Megball can live, work, and play together for so long and only speak when they have something important to say. I don't know anybody who can walk with a friend or relation and not ramble endlessly. Props to Megball.
I would say it's all in the depth of the relationship. Cueball and Megan must have a very strong one... which almost does make this feel like a tribute. (No. We're not going there again. Nextpostpls.)
The OTC and OTT will be here for quite some time. RL obligations aren't so patient always. So my advice - fulfill the RL stuff first. "Wait for it" could as easily refer to waiting for a chance to get online and check the OTC/OTT as it could mean anything else. (Yeah, clumsily put. But hopefully you'll understand. I can't think of a better way to word this... my forte is compsci, not English)
EDIT: I mean this, of course. The ninjas again!
ChronosDragon wrote:No pressure! The thread's not going anywhere! We know you work hard to produce all those fine pieces of haberdashery, and that Outside intrudes far too often into our Watching. Take your time, relax, it's no rush!
PhoenixRising wrote:My turn to pull a BlitzGirl - I'm over 60 pages behind after failing to follow the progress of the OTC for a few days.
I did, however, catch some late sigcouragement for her, and noticed mentions of time fading - I just had to sneak a peek... :roll: It looks like the loopists were right!
I expect it'll take me until past the comic's end to catch back up, so let me just say it's been a privilege Waiting for It with all of you. The amount of insanity, humor, creativity, and wisdom in here is unparalleled by anything I've seen or taken part in before. Best wishes to all of you, and may all your future Waiting, no matter what it be for, be swift and joyful.
Woot! My own signpost! I'm almost there! *doubles speed* Halfway there. But given it's only been a day or two since I returned, not bad for progress.
Time, Mr Freeman?
Postby ergman » Thu May 02, 2013 12:57 am UTC
Hello. I am known as Erg in the small pockets of the internet which I frequent.
When I first became aware of The One True Comic, I was alone.
A stranger in a strange land.
I was awash with wonder at XKCD #1190, the comic that kept on giving.
with some effort and research, I found this humble cult community, and after browsing the wiki, inspecting the apps, and lurking among the scripture
I decided I could not allow the opportunity for such a wonderful thing to pass me by.
So here I am.
do with me what you will.
*warpedit*
Hi gingercat! time travel is fun! This is my firstpost, which only blitzers have ever seen, pretty much. Now a days people throw firstposts forward, but that never happened to my old one here. Have fun on your blitz gingercat, and all other blitzers after you. we're waiting for you in the present now.
(I asked my girlfriend with no real knowledge of the comic what she thought he was holding, and she said "a dildo, a gun, or a boomerang".
You know it could be all three... That would be a real multipurpose device!
A dilgunnerang!
We need to invent this, and sell it!
A boomerang gun, that fires dildos! We will make millions!!!
Edit: or a dildo gun, that fires boomerangs!
Who wants to fire a gun at someone that results in a spent dildo hitting you in the face?
...I do.
Just tried searching for dildo gun boomerang in google images but the first image was just from this forum... https://www.google.co.nz/search?q=dildo+gun+boomerang&tbm=isch
That is just awesome!!!
EDIT: Also 2nd link on web search.
