@charles_grumbles: your double-, triple- and even quadruple-postings are starting to becoming somewhat annoying. I'd ask you to slow down (for reference, your last posts are 6 minutes apart.
That said, I have nothing against your propaganda attempts. They could even be the new ONGsame as the old ONG?.

I admit I haven't been posting much lately; I was busy rewriting my time-related website and now I was thinking on making a backup of my music collection (it just occurred to me that I don't need to archive the albums first, it'd be redundant - but still, I'll need to decide which albums go on each disc).

MicroBlitz report, NP1353-NP1364

As always, plenty of ⁴ OTTherComics, manips, colorizations, OSHes, ...!

⁷terful ottifications from svenman (a v2, but still ⁴!), Angelastic (², but the ⁴ accompanying story more than makes up for it), ZoomanSP (nett!)

Interesting story, Neil_Boekend!

What do I see there? Otters posting in OtherThreads? Traitors! (Even BlitzGirl... I'm very disappointed in y'all.)
Oh, it's an invasion. Never mind, then; keep up the good work.

Poor Vytron... Looks like it took a while to properly sink in...

Prof. Grumbles, a double post in a while is no big deal, but you're overdoing it.
(Oh, no, not more of them at the next page. Image )
Please, please, stop this. This is way too annoying, and explicitly forbidden in the rules.

Angelastic, I'm afraid no inspiration strikes me at this time. Maybe later, but we have more Nederotters here, maybe one of them can try?

People saying it's too quiet in the OTT. Disagree, still taking me forever to ketch up.

This talk of clothes made me realize we'd better do something about all that OTC indecency... Here's a start:
Image

And that's it for me.
So close to the present, but now it's just too annoying to continue reading.

Bye.

Oh, it's an invasion. Never mind, then; keep up the good work.

To be fair, I was molpying about the OtherThreads long before the dawn of Time, in the wilds of the fora, dodging raptortrolls and snarkymolps.
The lure of the wild still beckons me, and every so often I emerge from our OTTerden and rampage across mine old haunts.
If you hear thunder in the wind and the swift clicking of a leopard while browsing an OtherThread...I may be lurking in the shadows.
Be not afraid: the OTTers I leave alone, recognizing as kin.
But unlike the others who have posted on this newpage so far, I am a primordial beast.
My apologies if I suddenly sprout saberteeth and dash wildly into random threads. It happens.

I forget who first predicted that the pattern was a date, but I think that is what's happening. March 29 of next year is a Saturday and the location coordinates (if it isn't the Chateau D'If) could be shown in the same way. I don't see any other reason for this pattern other than nerdsniping us. If the current pattern continues for 14 dips it's definitely a date.

Hey Guys!

Been slowBlitzing through the last 75 NP, and had to comment...
Angelastic wrote:People Sitting
an ottification of Johnny Saucep'nmp3 by Moxy Früvous

Well, it was just two people sitting when we came upon this comic,
and the readers said, 'it's deep, but Randall's workload's subatomic.'
But somewhere yet unnoticed Randall's JavaScript? was grooving,
and in thirty minutesH, holy wow, the story started moving:
Spoiler:
Castles, cat fights, trebuchets, long nights,
beanies, molpies, squirpies, chirpies,
wowterfalls, dilgunnerangs, wow trees, salt seas,
huge rooms, sand dunes, French girls, certain doom,
linguists, campfires, healing cream, grapevines,
Pokémolps, beesnakes, worm-snakes too,
face-hillbugs, steam bottle ughs and a shooting star and a castleraft and lands afar.

Well, it was just two people sitting when we came upon this comic,
but the genius Randall sniped us with proportions astronomic,
and the waiters are in mourning now the comic's not quite dead,
but we'll always have a home now in this strange and wowterful thread.

Castles, cat fights, trebuchets, long nights,
beanies, molpies, squirpies, chirpies,
wowterfalls, dilgunnerangs, wow trees, salt seas,
huge rooms, sand dunes, French girls, certain doom,
linguists, campfires, healing cream, grapevines,
Pokemolps, beesnakes, worm-snakes too,
face-hillbugs, steam bottle ughs and a shooting star and a castleraft and lands afar.
Beautifully done, and actually a smoother chorus than the original.
Good job!

I think slinches was the first to propose a date. But his prediction was that it's going by digit, so we wouldn't get 14 repetitions - the most we would ever get is nine. (Fourteen would be one and then four.) I don't know what to make of the fact that we didn't actually get full repetitions of the first two cycles - both were truncated two newpix before a full cycle could be completed.

I'm up to page 285 out of 1365 now. Or about 20.9% of the way through the thread. Which I think is about .1% further than I was the last time I posted. Yay! Go me!

Megan just built a tiny floodwall to block the rising water and is hoisting the second plank up onto the second pair of poles by herself. But for some reason this is the sort of thing the thread is discussing:

It may be that I've missed the joke, but based on my understanding of what translucent means, 'more translucent' surely doesn't make sense.
More transparent or more opaque, sure, but translucent is somewhere in the middle...

One wears more-translucent glasses with a shirt sized extra-medium.

Extra-medium shirts don't fit me right. I only look good in shirts that are extra-extra-medium.

Edit:
And from page 286:
Roia wrote:I'm confused at what FTFY means. I thought it was 'Fixed that for you' but now I'm not so sure.

I always read it as 'For The Fifth Year'.

No, I am not kidding. For a long time I didn't know what it was supposed to mean so I just guessed wildly. Eventually my most common guess got locked in in my head and has yet to be displaced, for the fifth year.

Greetings from sunny smoggy no-cal (or so I hear the positive-magnetic-field-wards portion of the state of California is called)! On the road again today, made a pit stop in an amazing redwood forest, and I must say the redwood definitely qualifies as this continent's version of a wowtree! I'd paste a picture of the redwoods into the wowtreeframe, but I'm not in the best situation to do so right now. We arrived in Oakland (which for those not in the know is just north of the famous San Francisco) under a smoggy cloud - what's up with that? Is there a thermal inversion right now? It's also got highs in the 60s and 70s while we're here, which is simultaneously 1) subverting expectations for one of the sunnier states in the US and 2) completely meeting expectations for the sort of road trip my family goes on ;) We'll have a good time tomorrow regardless, as I'm going on a tour of a couple local colleges in order to scope out my possibilities. Any UC-Berkely or Stanford grads here?
Anyway, glad charlie kept y'all busy today with his wowterful burma-shave poems. I was a little shocked to only see 1.5 pages to ketchup on from this morning until I remember it was the wipend. Hope things speed up again tomorrow :D Until then, CHRDRG out.

ETA: The "One True Ale" would seem presumptuous, no?

The brew went exceptionally well, and a tasting of the raw wort (before the yeast gets pitched) tells me this one is going to be exceptional. Soft, balanced, just a hint of fruity-spiciness, and just sweet enough to balance the hops. Things are looking good in the fermenters this morning.

Far from being presumptuous, OTA is precisely what it is. Unless any other brewers have one on the go?

BTW, did anyone comment on the One true Scavenger Hunt In Time name? I thought that was hilarious, but I'm not remembering anybody acknowledging it. It couldn't possibly be that we're all too mature around here for such foolishness, could it?

I quite like using OSHIT instead of just OSH. But then again I haven't made a hunt yet and I am unlikely to do so in the near future.
I probably missed it because of stuff.

There's always Time for OSHing! :D But right now I'm posting rONGs since my last OSH is still unsolved. The void betwixt Sundip and Mondip is always eerily quiet on the OTT.

ETA: The random-newpix-fetcher on mscha's site is probably semi-sentient - I just noticed the quoted manip two posts up that's eerily similar to this newpix.

I made it to the thirteenth centipage! I hope I won't have to make it to the fourteenth just yet (not before I hit the Present, please?).

During this time there's been a blag post revealed. GLR says "neat". hehe. He nicely reveals a good amount but much will still have to be inferred and interpreted wrong. I think our only hope is still to have a Q&A session with him. If that happens, Present or Past, I want to be there, so PMs are in order, please. :)

I agree on the ambiguity of "try to decipher" not meaning "possible to decipher" when it comes to Beanish. That's one example of many issues still to be resolved.

I want to reiterate (or iterate?) that I'm in full hope mode that these projects in motion reach their conclusions. I'm in favor of the color each frame project (hope to get around to contributing to that), the OTVO (hope to help if help is still needed), and other projects not fully started such as connecting every OtherComic to the OTC and maybe even the Book a Day mailed to GLR project.

But I hope all this is able to be done in a relaxed, coma-filled way. Fair well my fellow OTTers!

My supervisor called in sick so my plans for today are dud. I'd go build a sandcastle if I was anywhere near sand/salt/semencoffeecancerbabies.

Inspired by ChronosDragon's report, here's my impression of the wowtrees, combined with a picture I took last year when I visited the New World's wowtrees. Based on his awefulsome hats, I deduct that ChronosDragon's image manip skills are way better than mine (which are rather riverish), so this this is merely a place holder until he has the chance to post his version.

Thanks for staying on the lookout!

GIven that there's no elegant way to depict zero, I lean towards the interpretation that any encoding is one that would make sense in base one, and uses positive integers only. This would include dates (with ten being encoded as ten repetitions, not as one followed by zero) but not locations (there is a zero degree - cheating by calling it one puts us as much as five kilocue away, and cheating by calling it 360 (or 60, for minutes and seconds) is a bit inelegant.) Are there commonly used geolocation tags that do not use zero?

This would also tend to rule out ASCII (unless sixteen were the zero, which is not totally unreasonable) and EBCDIC.
