Sorry. Shy is easier to use as a term. I am shy (if that is correct for me either, who knows) but that loud, dramatic, etc description is me too. When I was in NYC and noticed that I wouldn't make it in time to the meeting point with my friends, I openly cursed by saying "M*stard!". Not English, which does nothing to explain why I like Branston or Marmite so much, or how I became an avid tea drinker. It is funny you should mention that I do not seem like a voracious reader. I wish I read more, actually. I am currently working my way through Iain Banks (who I discovered from a post on the OTT about his recent death - how did I not know about this guy!?). Right now I am reading his non-Culture fiction in chronological order (except for A Song of Stone which I accidentally read out of order). I am currently on Crow Road. He has quickly entered the top five of my favorite authors: I dare say he may be on his way to the No. 1 spot. Though knocking out Douglas Adams is going to be a tough fight. I love to read, almost anything, but I find myself reluctant to actually discuss books with others (mostly because I do not know anyone else who reads as much as I do, or read the same things).

@Ebonite After your story, and from what you have posted, I can definitely image you as a manager. I have a few that could use replacing. You do not post as often as some other OTTers, but you are a rather reliable fixture in the OTT.

Having a dot in the middle of the word means to tell someone verbally you'd have to spell it out as letters.

I've been playing around with the epilogue sequence and noticed some interesting (a)symmetry if the four full 24hr sequences are listed in order of appearance and rows are aligned to start at 0:00 UTC (like they are currently on mscha's site):

The first and last 4x4 blocks are symmetric about at least one of their diagonals and a couple of others are only one or two blocks away from being similarly symmetric.

Additionally, the (5,1) to (8,4) block is the same as the (15,1) to (18,4) block, except that all of the values are shifted down by one.


I have no clue what any of this means other than that the sequences are related to each other and aren't likely to be random.

This was done in Excel by converting the sequence letters to numbers and then applying conditional formatting, in case anyone was curious.

Reminds me a bit of the prime number distribution phenomenon:

Indeed it is! It's quite helpful for me, because I have been finding little to now time to catch up on the thread now that school has started again (and it's only going to get busier... :( ). I won't be completely gone, but my posts will be sorta infrequent, at least for a while.

So I'm on the second dip of my ketchup blitz and I made it to NP 1434 (of 1439).

Well I got to my blindpost that has my story in it. (Yeah, I know, yesterdip I mentioned another NewPage number as my story location. I take the razzing over that when I get there.)
And I'm seeing all this positive feedback over my semi-rambling throughout NP 1432, 1433 & 1434.

Thanks to: AluisioASG, Eternal Density, BlitzGirl, ggh, azule, ucim, and marchlight for your kind words and praise. With a special thanks to SBN for his PM about my story. As someone who's not used to receiving this type of attention I'm a little :oops: embarrassed. But thanks none the less.

Also thanks for the corrections and critiques from SBN (in PM), Eternal Density, BlitzGirl, azule, and ucim. I did ask for the feed-back, didn't I? As I said to SBN about one sentence he pointed out, I know that some of what I wrote was awkwardly put, but I drew a blank about how to correct it. (It also didn't help that I wanted to post it that nip. It might have fared better if I had coma'd on it and did a fresh-eyed proof-read.)

One thing, several folks mentioned doing a revision. If I do one, should I edit my original post (which seems like 'cheating') or should I re-post in the OTT or should I post the revision in the wiki only? (That is, if people think any version would be okay to add there.)

Again thanks for your kind words. (And, if I missed anyone, remember this is coming from NP 1434, and I may not have seen your reaction yet. I think I got everyone on the first three pages there...

Yeah, I hat finding out that an idea wasn't as original as you thought. That said, I'd probably like it there, if I ever dared venture beyond the one true thread.

It's not unoriginal, we adapt to the OTT, not just make worse/better, and not just done in general, but with the constraints of one subject and yet still have to make it interesting or funny.

At the bottom of NP 1437 (of 1439) even though I'm only 2 pages behind I'm going to post this anyways.
I realize I haven't joined in to most of the on-going discussions of the moment, but it always feels like what I want to say as already been said (Or probably will be shortly). But these "Exodies-style"A posts do keep the sea-ish-ness down, I guess.

@Exodies: I'm sure some old SF plot-lines may have snuck in. I mean, I've been reading SF and Fantasy and comics since the '60's, so I may have been a little diriative in the telling. (I know of no out-right plagarism though.) Or are you refering to it reminding you of MFrames 2857 to 2922 or so? (If that's the case then I done good...)

Thanks to BlitzGirl (and ucim) for the wiki mention. I see it's just a redirect back to the original post. What does that mean for the (possible) revision?

Oh, and I just found by Neil_Boekend's post with the CastleClicker link in it about 15-20 minutesH ago (from when I started writing this), and first I clicked on the newpix until I got enough sand to get enough castles to buy a bucket. Then I saw I had enough castles (one) to buy a Newpixbot. Then I noticed the Sand/castle number rises without clicking. Now what? (I mean, besides "Wait For It"?)
And while while working on this I noticed I'm on Newpix 2 and the switch to Newpix 3. Which still leaves me with "Now What?"
Maybe some on-site directions would be nice? A petite description of the goals? Some "how to play" info?

As for the domain name, I very much prefer chirpingmustard.com. That one just sounds right to me. I voted on the straw poll. I will go with whatever you guys decide, though. I hope we don't splinter into different domains.

Love your sketch, Valarya and your wowterful glorious redundatigersquirpy! As to the cookies thing, I'm only up to about 400M Cps, but I did it by buying time machines. I started out only buying 10 of each thing until I went to the next level up. At Portals, I think I bought 20 because Time Machines are just so expensive. But since then I've bought mostly time machines, with occasional impulse buys of other building types. Once you have a fair number of time machines, you can afford the others much more quickly than if you had bought them first. So now I'm up to 84 time machines and 100 of everything else except cursors, which I'm up to 185 out of an eventual 200 I plan to buy. But Time Machines are first priority since they overwhelmingly increase your cookie production rate much faster than the others. I do buy the upgrades, which are all good bargains, I think, except I'm saving the ones that set off the granny uprising until later. That's my strategy, for what it's worth. :)

Hmm so I got distracted from writing the loading code by adding and testing some more boosts. Still no achievements though.
Also I *really* need to do either tooltips or something similar to display item descriptions. Because I have descriptions written but no way to show them :P

I think that's true of most OTT stuff. I know my stories have mustard in them too. As for fixing... I have simply edited my stories in place when I had minor changes, must mostly just left the mustard. Were I to actually publish anything, it would get a good going over first, by me, by a copy editor, by some friends... it's a whole different ball game. The last 10% takes the other 90% of the work! The OTT is for fun.

One change I waffled about was in my double dactyl installment... XXIII. In the haiku section I changed "Nice delivery" to "Free delivery", which I think works better. I thought of that line shortly after I posted, but after some had seen and commented on the original, so I left it. But later on I decided "chirp, let's just fix it". So now you don't have to buy the director's cut as a separate purchase; you can just scarf it off the net! :)

If I were doing a major revision, I'd repost, with a link to the original (and edit the original to add a link to the new). But don't sweat it.

It means that the revised version is what users would be sent to. When you revise a post, the old version is poof on the server. Cached copies of the old version will exist worldwide, but most of them will expire at some point, and you'd have to make an effort to find them. If the old version happened to be crawled by the Internet Wayback Machine, it will exist there. But mostly, it will be poof.

Per pope decree - Sure, you can post the image of me that my posts project. I'm curious how I come across. It does seem a bit narcissistic though. :)

@Vytron - Loved the new heretical comic! I wonder though - did you mix up the First Cleric with the second scribe? One is beautiful and brilliant, the other is... well... less so. :)

@azule: I happen to know this about Ebonite because we talked about it in thread one Time. re: "Lord of the Three Holes"? The Ebonite Company manufactures bowling balls. And one of the balls they made was for The Bowler in "Mystery Men". Which is where Ebonite's avatar comes from. (I happened to ask about the connection when folks were talking about their nicknames. So when I quoted The Bowler, he said "Mystery Men" was a favorite movie.) {Just passing this on in case he doesn't post again for another 25-30 newpages. I wouldn't want you to lose sleep over it.}
