is anyone paying attention to my cryptic subjects?

Postby Eternal Density » Wed Oct 16, 2013 7:30 am UTC

Wooohooo! I finally got NGINX working with gunicorn to serve Django :D For some reason it was choking on a symlink, even though my instructions said to do it that way. Oh well.
Now I'm close to actually doing useful stuff...

The only thing I can see is the series of subjects:

"no one has"
"decoded my"
"secret messages yet"
"heh heh heh"

The subject of the post after the "aHR0cCUyNTNBJTI1MkYlMjUyRmdvby5nbCUyNTJGbTdSd05i" post is a much searched for function. Is that your next project?

It's one of the vital functions of the Hotdog. It's used whenever you load a saved game. ETA removed redundant space.

Aha! I guessed it was probably the latin alphabetised beanish, but couldn't be bothered to look it up. But how does that work? We haven't translated Beanish yet... have we?

I also thought maybe it looked a lot like hotdog save data, but it's too short to be an entire saved game.

It's like this: For a chirpy (i.e. lark) I called the functions for turning the the savegame into the export format CuegishToBeanish() and the one for turning it back again BeanishToCuegish(). They just do some escaping/unescaping, urlencode/urldecode, and base64encode/decode, in the correct order. They're also used for a bunch of redacted text strings within the hotdog.
Spoiler:
(such as the embedded youtube frames of your very own songs)
And they can be called in the javascript console with whatever text you like to encode it or unencode it.

This means you can actually see what your exported savefile actually looks like by running it through BeanishToCuegish. (at mrob27's suggestion, I also convert the save's separator chracters (;|c) to letters (SPC) to cut down on special-character-escapes which reduces the size.

They just do some escaping/unescaping, urlencode/urldecode, and base64encode/decode, in the correct order. They're also used for a bunch of redacted text strings within the hotdog.

(such as the embedded youtube frames of your very own songs)
And they can be called in the javascript console with whatever text you like to encode it or unencode it.

Oh wow! So I was semi-right, but wrong sort of Beanish. I was unaware of this special Hotdog-Beanish. I just remembered that time someone assigned latin characters to all the Beanish symbols for easier typing and presumed it was that. But my second guess WAS right! Treeish! And very interesting.

Reporting some possible mustard in SB:

I've safed up for about a week to be able to afford Ch*rpies. The descriptions says I get a sand dig rate increase of 5% per badge earned. I've got 73 Badges, so I should have got an increase of 365%. I dug sand at a rate of about 19M s/mNP before, after I got the badge I dug sand at about 38M s/mNP, so the increase is only about 200%.

Also: I've bought the badge that allows castle tools to activate twice every longpix... well it used to worked, but it doesn't work anymore. I am not sure with which version it stopped working.

I'll look into it.
ETA I combined the messages from the double production together to reduce spam. So it's working but less obvious. As forch* rpies I'll have to double check but there may be other factors affecting the math. It's complicated.

AND WHEN CAN I HAVE THIS NEW HOTDOG.
I the former.
And the hotdog is still in the embryonic stage. I've already enlisted OTTer help with making lists of stuff, and such requests for suggestions will continue.

Me neither. The former only, obviously.

Updates to the current hotdog will continue of course. There's still a few unfinished features and little improvements to make. And probably several hundred badges but they're easy.

Hmm I haven't actually eaten dinner yet. Oops.

Well, my spellchecker tells me "asswell" is wrong so I chose the most ridiculous of the suggestions. It's probably aswell. Oh no it isn't, that has a red squiggly too.
