Happy Timeversary!!

I know this has all been said a hundred times before, but what the heck. It's been such an honour and a privilege to be a part of this wonderful community for a whole year. I teared up when I woke up this morning and saw oldpixbot posting ONGs. A year ago today I spent the whole morning staring at XKCD, trying to load cached or working versions of explainXKCD, and finally stumbling across this thread. I can't imagine how different this year would have been without you all. Through the hard times, this thread is a reminder that there are great people in the world. I can always count on the OTT to find something positive or funny. Love you xuys!

I realize this was a decree from a couple NP ago, but I wanted to find one of my Old Posts and Modernize it.

From NP70, np146, during the Pan+Zoom:

First of all, new what-if. With no mention of Time or OTTers that I saw :(

And SBN, I searched both the OTT and wiki thinking surely, some otter had already OTTified Auld Lang Syne, but I guess my google-fu was lacking in this case.

Happy Annitimery, everyone!

What's more, in Sweden it's also Waffle Day (våffeldagen). Well, as Etymology Man would say, it is really the day of Our Lady Mary (vårfrudagen), but some creative mis-hearing has created the Waffle Day.

So, have an ASCII waffle:

And thanks for all greetings, advice and concern. I'm so happy that my OTTer homing instinct brought me back for the Timeyversity.

So this would then be the first dip of the second yip, Anno Tempus?
Or 1/1/2 AT

Also, I think I figured out where the M/D/Y notation came from. It's the equivilent of the way we speak. FOr some reason, most USians say Mip Xth, yip. Ironically, if you go back to old, heretical documents, they almost always say "In the Year of our Lord, year, Month day"

SO at some point, We moved the year to the end and abbreviated the Anno Domine.

The basement is a busy place, but I'll spare a little time to celebrate time. We waited for it, now we remember it.

Also, I like mrob's idea about oldpixbot, but alternately, couldn't oldpixbot accumulate oldpix and post them all in a spoiler at a more reasonable rate?

Um, I might be mistaken on my OTTish, but if I remember correctly, the river is small. The sea is big.

I suppose it would be Small River Band (or maybe Tiny River Band, because Small River is redundant). Or I suppose it could be Vital Hotdog Function :D
There are two films that I particularly like.
One of them is a science-fiction dramatic comedy involving a boy who accidentally travelled in time. Extremely popular when it originally came out in 1985, it retains a major cult following to this day.
The other one, of course, is Back to the Future.

Ok, just have to write this down:

I know I've not been the busiest OTTer around, the Outside interfering and what not. But all those oldtimers showing up again for the Timeversary - Valary, mikrit, Stratplayer, marchlite, Ebonite, Goggalor... (I really hope I did not forget anyone) - have triggered a bad bout of nostalgia. I can't believe I've been following the OTT now for a year, and posting in it not much shorter (the Fading had brought me out). So many things happened in this year - not all have been good - but somehow I kept returning to the OTT reading along or at least skimming it, never let the Ketchup built up to become a Blitz. It seems so silly to get attached to the completely irrelevant concept of a few people talking and joking about a webcomic. At the same time I miss those people when they vanish into the basement - like BuffyGirl, Helper, Opipoble, Angelastic and all the others who built and shaped this community. I am glad when I see them posting again and if even for a very short time. I feel welcome, when I post now and then and still get bleary eyed when listening to "We Love the Thread of Time" ot "Megan and Cue".

So I just wanted to say thank you again, OTTers!

PS: Hey look! It's tresoldi, our linguist! Hello tresoldi!

So many people coming up from the basement toxip. We need to have Timeversaries more often. We can do that, right?

WAIT! Where did this come from? I've been away for months, has it been cracked??

A few OTTers have contributed to a compilation called Time After Time. I skipped most of the last 6 mips of the OTT (but going back to finish, I swear), so I was essentially asking the same thing. Either someone cracked it, or is essentially putting characters together in ways that are pleasing in some way.

ETA2: There are apparently no double posts right now, with the Timeversary excitement

Calm your molpies, we were hardly going to crack it without you. Works of TimeAfterTime creator SilentTimer has had to give up and make assumptions. It's pig-beanish, if you will.

I'm reading oldpages when I have the Time (I'll probably save up a Blitz Report for my departure post), doing UNGs, and posting like a wildmolpy. This one makes 12 posts in under a dix!

ergman wrote: is it just me or did the what-if not have any alt-texts? Seems suspicious.

Hmmm. I got alt-texts:
What-If 89.1. (The Sun, a little thing going poof!, and a rocket labeled "SOLAR PROBE PLUS"): "Assuming it's ever launched, Solar Probe Plus will get within 1/8th of Mercury's orbital distance."
What-If 89.2. (A little thing goes POOF, above the SUN helpfully labeled "(do not eat)"): "Goodbye, faithful countertop. I'm not sure what your mission was, but I'm sure you've performed it well."
What-If 89.3. (Two Buzzcut-like dudes, one drinks from a wine bottle, the other holds a glass): "Close enough."
Perhaps they were added recently?

In his blog, @tresoldi wrote: Thirteen regular expressions to rule (almost) them all

Pattern 1
      ur'(ᖆᐣ?|ᘛᖆ|ᘖᐣ)(ᑕᑦ)?[ᖽᖚᖗ](ᔭ,?|[ᒣᘈᑫ])?'
Words covered: ᖆᖚᔭ,ᐨ / ᖆᐣᖚᔭᐦ / ᖆᐣᖽ / ᘛᖆᖚᘈᐤ / ᖆᐣᑕᑦᖚᑫ / ᘖᐣᖗᔭ, / ᖆᖽᒣ
  • ᖆ is usually followed by the diacritic ᐣ when it is an initial, a feature it seems to share with ᘖ
  • While, for this group, ᑕ and ᑦ are always grouped, there is no indication that they are dependent
  • [ᖚᖗ] and [ᘈᑫ] seem to be two different groups; it is also possible that ᖽ belongs to the first group and ᒣ to the second one (as suggested by the following patterns)
[...]

 Wow. Beanish regexps. Image I think this blog article qualifies as "nerdvana-inducing". You deserve at least 27 internets for that. (And, welcome back!)

We wish you a treeish timeiversary, we wish you a treeish timeiversary, We wish you a treeish timeiversary and a molpish new yip!

Ch*rp, four pages to ketchup... must be busy with all the celebrating...

I suppose it's even possible he knows me in that sense. Since he knows (as mentioned in the blag) that we have our own songs here. So it's possible he's heard molpy molpy molpy molpy grapevine grapevine...
mrob27 wrote:I forgot to mention, my Time Replay viewer derives its sense of time from the date and time setting on your computer or device, so if you want to be in sync make sure your clock is set, or set it to automatically set its time from the Internet. Todix (just for another 4 nopix or so) it is currently showing a countdown until midnight Randall Daylight Time, when Newpix 1 will appear.

Awesomeful!

Eternal Density wrote:ETA: WOOO, HOTDOG VENDOR DECREE TIME!
Either suggest ideas for the 2048 OTTification, or discuss your favourite cybernetic organisms, or just do Timersary Celebration stuffs or some combination thereof.

A version with newpix. So you start with two tiles depicting the first newpix, then combine them to get the second and so on. Or, since that would take forever to get to t** **d and require a huge grid, a version more similar to the original where you start with the second newpix, combine them to get the 4th etc. (The newpix would probably have to be cropped too, since it'd be hard to see them properly if they're made so riverish.)

Edit: Nope, stopped now. The Madness is like the Universe, if ever we understand it, it is replaced with something more bizarrely inexplicable. (Quote from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
Edit2: My mistake, it was not even Madness! I was running the Cake Time Styler script, and forgot that I had modified it to change avatars of users with a post count of 27, 143, or 1011. Really had me going for a while. That's why I comment my own JavaScript profusely! :D

Aww, that would've been awesomeful if the mods had actually set that to happen.

Simply factor the extra sleep into your adjustment schedule. Go slowly, do not attempt to correct your sleep schedule in fewer than a week.

Hmm, I have thought about doing that and yeah it would probably be the best thing, but I've never been able to make it work in the real world since something always comes up to throw me off again.

marchlight wrote:Happy Timeversary!!

It's all related? An alternate universe of /^rily/? (what is this?)
Maybe we should make an expedition to that world and find out.
