Yeah, I knew you'd cotton to it! I cry every time I hear it.

I was in Dingle, and managed to catch a wonderful live folk concert in the two or three days I was there. (It turns out this concert happens pretty often, but I still felt incredibly lucky). This led me to a music store where I wanted to buy CDs of Irish music, and I was pointed to a boxed set (the book and CD) for something like $60-80... which is a huge amount of money for a CD. "But it's a boxed set! And the money goes to support the voyage!" Remembering the (true!) adage "I never regret the art I bought, only the art I didn't") I bought it, and both the book and the music were Zanclean. And it's a true story - these guys actually did it, and they almost didn't make it. (A similar raftcastlevoyage, but set in warmer waters, is Kon Tiki. It was less of an adventure than Brendon, but awesome anyway).

The CD is available (alone) here (and probably other places) at typical CD prices.

I'd love to hear more of Shaun-Davey's music!

Both Sides, Now
(with utmost respect for Joni Mitchell)

Poles in holes set everywhere
Lift tall Sandcastles in the air
And Megan shaking off her hair
I've looked at Time that way
But now away the Duo runs
Leaving us puzzled, every one
So much construction left undone
And yet they didn't stay

I've looked at Time from both sides now,
The black and white, and still somehow
Each newpix still leaves me in thrall
I really don't know Time at all

Toons, typhoons, and graphed ideals
The dizzy wandering makes you reel
As into Present Time you steal
I've looked at posts that way
But now I'm part of the whole show
Not just a pilgrim Now, you know
Into the future I must go
Let the past slip away

I've looked at posts from both sides now,
From here and then, and still somehow
Each newpage still leaves me in thrall
I really don't know threads at all

Tears and fears, the Waiting crowd
Shout "It's not over!" right out loud
Streams and beams made us feel proud,
we've looked at Time that way
But now the Pair are open range
And we all wonder what will change
But still it seems a fair exchange
The Fading's gone away!

We've looked at Time from both sides now,
From Fade and not, and still somehow
Each TimeFrame still leaves us in thrall
We really don't know Time at all

We've looked at Time from both sides now,
From hope and dread, and still somehow
Each TimeFrame still leaves us in thrall
We really don't know Time at all

Oh, RELATED thing happened todip: I was talking to Iron SeaWolpy's drummer about recording our album (which we're doing in three weeks) and he joked that we should end the album just with someone saying "Treeish!"

You know you're an OTTer when your friends who don't even know about the OTT start using OTTish words because they've picked it up from you...

I think it might be standard (ni ni ni capybara dingdong) Mac lingo for the plug thingie that fits into the adapter and has the prongs for going into the outlet. Some of the US ones have prongs that fold, which help them look even more like a duck's head than mine.

That being said, Kiwi's do tend to cute-ify many words. Try this:
After brekkie, my cuzzie, who I haven't seen for yonks, came around and gave me a little pressie for my birthday: new sunnies! I invited her in for a cuppa. I was feeling peckish again, so we went out for some greasies: cheese toasties and chippies washed down with a fizzy drink went down a treat! We might go out and watch the footy later and throw back a few stubbies - I should pack some sammies for that... and bring some dosh in case we want to stop by the uni and pick up a tinny on the way home.

I don't know if the Aussies are this cute, but they've got barbies too, so maybe.

Babies, too. Mine is saying "KH" for kitty. That's right, no vowels present and not "K". I still don't know what "GAH!" means (always yelled and short), but that's the go to word right now. This babymolp? is very vocal right now. (Yeah, I used your quote as an excuse. Sorry. I hope you like being used for the purpose of baby cuteness. ;))

The Little Wonder says everything with different inflections of "ah". My favourite is the quite specific ah that means "hey, there's something stuck to my foot!"
When she was three months old, she used heaps of different letters, but then she started focussing on volume and sounded exclusively like a cat for a while. I'll miss the ahs when they're gone.

You know If I saw things glowing blue it would probably worry me slightly.

It got me thinking though. Even if the cave glowed enough to see (You'd think in a world with no electrical light pollution it would be at least noticeable at night) would they be able to see it? I mean they live in a (mostly) monochromatic world. Why would they have evolved eyes that can see colour?

Then as this is supposed to be future earth that doesn't make any sense unless modern day civilisation was destroyed by some kind of monochromageddon permanently removing almost all colour from the world.

People wouldn't be able to tell if traffic lights were on stop or go and millions would die in traffic collisions while games of Trivial Pursuit would become even more of an exercise in frustration.

It is also possible I'm over thinking this (yet again)

UNIX jargon, treeish outsiders, blueish imagemorphs, oh my! It's a nice feeling to be sitting on top of 6 ketchupped newpages.

I've been on holiday on the Oregon Coast, as my family is wont to do (for some reason, our ideal beach is cold, windy, and cloudy). Got plenty of internet access but plenty of Outside responsibilities as well, so I've mostly been molping about in various towns around here and playing 2048 while waiting in lines or for family members to finish shopping. I'd play Q04B, but my phone is quite old and without a SIM card, and wi-fi is only rarely available outside of the hotel. So even if I could load it, it'd run pretty jaggedly. 2048 exists as a standalone app, which is quite nice, as it runs faster than the web version and is available offline.

I may not be around much over the next few weeks, as I have a lot going on. Among these are several final projects for various classes, a competition in Pullman in a week, a presidential campaign to run, and an internship potentially beginning as soon as school is out. (Still waiting to hear back on that last one, which doesn't exactly help my stress levels). I'm finding it difficult to relax on this apparent vacation, but that's mostly because concentrating my family in one place inevitably results in an explosion of drama, strife, and public embarrassment (despite our best efforts to the contrary). My idea of a good vacation would be a nice weekend by myself in a cabin with some basic amenities and a (relatively powerful) laptop with wi-fi, but I'm unlikely to achieve such an arrangement in the near future, so I'll have to relieve stress through video games instead. Anyway, I will be around, just not posting so much. Not that I've been particularly active as of late, but basically, expect that to continue.

ChronosDragon wrote:UNIX jargon, treeish outsiders, blueish imagemorphs, oh my!

When you go to your competition, you will likely go places where I have been, as my family has a long history in Pullman. (I'm also planning a trip to the Oregon coast later this summer, but I don't yet know if I'll manage to escape the family obligations to arrange a meet up with anyone.)
Don't get too stressed.

Blindposting some more lyrical ingenuity.

There's nothing boring about Blitzing! So many textual treasures buried in the Past.

My work colleages gave me funny looks when I read "Dirty loopists", laughed out loud, was asked what is so funny, simply said "Dirty loopists!" and laughed again.

Nothing boring about watching you discover the buried treasures either, Gingercat!

I was half acoma when I looked at the othercomic this morning, and for a moment I thought I saw a Beanish secret message. But there was nothing. Oh well. I just noticed that beanishlang.wordpress is active again though...I'll have to ketchup on that. Gratuitous molpy:
