I think of that when I see seagulls flying. I've heard people refer to them as "ratmolpies of the sea," and their depiction in Finding Nemo is pretty accurate ("Mine! Mine! Mine!) but they are beautiful when they're flying.
I do think seagulls are beautiful, especially when they fly; it's their behavior I object to :)
I read Jonathan Livingston Seagull when I was pretty young - my Dad had a copy from the second or third printing, which I gave to my eldest the other mip. I agree with Jonathan - the squabbling of the flock is intolerable.

I thought a cheroot was one of those long, skinny cigars, the kind Clint Eastwood smoked in his westerns. That would make Link's sentence, “I then debootstrapped Wheezy-armhf onto it, pushed it onto my rooted Android phone using adb, and wrote a script to losetup the image, mount the virtual block device, and chroot into it,” even less comprehensible than it was before!

Pretty close! Sorry I haven't been around this wip. I'm actually moving myself and my possessions to a new city tomorrow, several nopix farther away from the Sea (because you can never be sure about what that thing is up to, even if it probably knows what it's doing). I've spent the dips of my absence packing much like Beanies before a voyage, and dealing with assorted moving mustard that seems to be an integral part of any major relocation. Image

The Outside is quite formidable. But hopefully I should be back to regular OTTing soon!

You need to arrange your web-footed raptors carefully. Helps with the m*stard. (Can't prevent it completely.)
Life-m*stard here is still high, rising about as fast as we can shovel it out.
But, time for a wip-end adventure with the wolpies.

Huh. I was going to put a second, silly solution here because of forgetting to follow SBN's optional decree; then I found something related, but kind of sad.

BlitzGirl wrote: ...the Sea (because you can never be sure about what that thing is up to...)
True, but the most devastating thing it could be up to (tsunami) are a lot rarer than what the air gets up to further inland (tornadoes). And the second most devastating thing, hurricanes/nor'easters, are predictable to a degree. Besides, it's the Sea! (Where are we from, lads? From the Sea, Captain!)

I remember now what else I was going to say yesterday. I had a RELATED moment this week. I started playing a new console hot dog. The main plot point is that your character has been infected by a creature which calls itself a brain slug. I wonder if it's the same as the one in Cueball's head?

Do hamplies have thumbs? Is your exam period almost over?

Our wolpy adventure todip was accidentally to where a war re-enactment was happening. Fortunately, the wolpies weren't bothered by the sound of cannons.
We had a nice walk near a lake, and through some woods. The only molpy activity spotted was a squirpy.

Language fun, and another puzzle(ish) for the WolpyPope: an English dialect quiz that helps with language research.
It guessed (estimated?) that my English dialect is American Standard (yup), Singaporean (really? Neat!), or South African (huh), and that my native language is English (yup), Dutch (my Tim's family is from Holland, good ear there), or Russian (?).

Also, I don't have photomanip capability, but has anymolpy thought of OTTifying space stuff, for upcoming newpage 1969? (Wistful smiley)

I got American Standard, Singaporean, or Canadian. Native Language English, Russian, or German. Really not sure where the Singaporean comes from, everything else I can at least come up with a plausible explanation.

I never thought of that happening. (Just if someone got one new file version and no its new dependency version too.) I wonder if you can configure the server to refuse to serve that file until the new version is finished uploading.

ChrDr wrote:Perhaps true...but far more often on linux I find the "canned" solution involves fiddling with things I'd never thought about on Windows. For one, it's not a huge thing, but you have to be able to use a command line if you're on linux, whereas on Windows it's a rare event in most people's normal usage (most will assume you are a hacker if you open one on their computer). And there are so many command line utilities for linux that it would take months to memorize them all.
I find that to not be that true. The terminal is very helpful, and easier to copy and paste if sharing a solution than saying "go to this menu then this tab then click okay three times", which is probably why that's the "canned" solution.

I don't know if it was just me, but a lot of Windows solutions involved the Registry, which is a totally opaque environment with no manual pages or any help except through others. Knowing what you're doing is better than being told each time.
Ninja'd by slinches. Damn, that means I'm slower than a slug. ;)

As for memorizing all the CLI apps...yeah, that's not gonna happen.

While that is true, pure numbers and all, it's probably also true about more unpatched security holes (for which I did see an actual statistic or two confirming this many moons ago). Even if it's just IE with the issues, that's a big issue because of that browser's integration into the OS. Summation: it's not just MS hating.

I recall her being open to our input, so it's your fault, HES. ;) I don't have a problem with the names (she did the work to distinguish them, dibs), but I'm sure if one of them is a problem for some reason, why not get it changed, I agree.

No offense to the Christians, but if these people are gracious enough to care after your pet while you're gone forever, wouldn't that qualify them for rapture themselves? It seems, to take the pessimistic outlook, that those pets are doomed to exist alone or with the bad people left on Earth then.

If you read this sig, post about one arbitrary thing you did today.

I celebrate up to six arbitrary things before breakfast.
Time does drag on and on and contain spoilers. Be aware of memes.

Personally, I'm pretty convinced the wolpies all get to go. (Though, some molpies may well prefer an earth without people.)
