Context dependent, yes. Alternatively "student".

Right, or "parent".
Also, inhabited by micro-molps. (I think mine are micro-raptors though, definitely not friendly.)

I would have said coma-deprived... I mean, sleep-deprived. But it's true, yappocised is a more specific term that I don't think the Outside has an exact analogue for!

(chapter 55)

Morobu is a bit taken aback by AUTOMOME's response to his greeting. He turns to look at the still-open door behind him, then back to the robot. "I— I'm sorry. I'll go now."
"NO, MOROBU, YOU ARE THE WOWTERFALL."
"Huh?" Morobu blinks. "... Uhh, did you say you were ''AUTOMOME''?"
"I DON'T ALWAYS POST GOATS, BUT WHEN I DO, I MEMEIFY BLITZPOSTS." With this, AUTOMOME holds out her hand, gesturing towards one of the labeled images along the wall.
Morobu walks through the pews over to the indicated sign. It is one of the few that looked familiar to him, part of his oral tradition, the mythology of Time. It shows a large sandcastle with scaffolding, as described in the Immutable Legend, with Saint Cueball atop the upper platform, his hands raised in excitement. At top and center, vaguely phallic, is some kind of tower with a glowing red light (this, as well as Cueball's raised arms, are not part of the Legend as Morobu knew it). To the right, where the Sea would be if this were true to the Legend, Saint BlitzGirl holds an object which Morobu recognizes from a different tale, something called "The Whistle of Temporal Harmony". To the right of her, inexplicably, is a little volcano erupting lava, which Morobu finds a bit unsettling. The caption reads,

I WILL NOT **D THIS WHISTLE OF TEMPORAL HARMONY — IT IS WOWTERFUL

Oh, oh! I've seen this sign, too! Or made this sign, or something! Back in my old pre-boa dips...

Those all are rather subdued colors, as it looks like. Rather a contrast to the glittering personalities on the OTT :D :-). I remember you describing the process you use to determine the color based on the avatars but seem to be unable to find it in your posts.

Interesting. But the primary colors displayed by an OTTers aren't usually well represented by the average of the colors in the image. I can think of a couple ways you might be able to begin capturing something more iconic:
- Identify the most saturated color in the image. Saturation is a strange thing to figure out how to measure, thinking about it, but you could probably look for the biggest differential between high and low values of R, G, and B.
- Bring out more saturated colors from the average by increasing contrast in RGB values. When I was making a Terraria mod for dragon transformation (no, not currently under active development) I was troubled with making the player's scale colors match some aspect of their original character. What I ended up doing was taking the R, G, and B from 0 to 1 of their shirt color, and raising them to powers based on whether they were high ( > 0.5) or low (< 0.5), or something like that.
- You may also consider looking at the 2 to 3 most different highly saturated colors to give a sort of color palette for each user.

Oh, and for decree, I have something to repost:

Baobabs, an almost exact double-coma means my average for this week is a surprisingly good 7 nopix.
BlitzGirl wrote:I would have said coma-deprived... I mean, sleep-deprived. But it's true, yappocised is a more specific term that I don't think the Outside has an exact analogue for!

It's possible to be yappocised without being sleep deprived. I suppose the closest term is "having a sleeping pattern not equivalent to the majority of people in their timezone".

ggh wrote:Nice verse, HES! If it's based on anything, I might not be familiar with the original, but I enjoyed it regardless.

It's a number from the musical Starlight Express. My sisters all saw it on a school trip and sang it constantly, but for my year they changed the trip to go and see stomp instead. Lots of thwappsticks in that one.

balthasar_s wrote:3. Some time ago in a post I mentioned that in 2011 she destroyed a robot overlord by throwing a bicycle.

ggh wrote:Oh, HES, that looks like no fun. Summer deadlines are wrong.

I'd rather this than have to have squeezed it in during the year. In terms of credits I'm essentially squeezing three semesters into one year (it's usually two semesters at 60 credits each, per year of undergrad. This one-year postgrad is 180)

ggh wrote:And Minim's going to her first choice school, which I'll assume is Hogwart's.

Of course, every British person applies to Hogwarts as their first choice. I got my second choice, twice, which is why I had to get my wizardry degree from the OTT.

Ah! I wasn't going mad. That also explains the box-carrying molpies I kept passing as I flicked between the two repositories.

Here's another song ottification.
Spoiler:
LaPetite's Lament

based on My Pal Foot Foot by The Shaggs

My pals are Cue and Meg
They always like to roam
My pals are Cue and Meg
I never find them home

I go to their house
Knock at their door
People come out and say
Cue and Meg ain't here no more

My pals Cue and Meg
Always like to roam
My pals Cue and Meg
Now their home is gone

Where will Cue and Meg go
What will Cue and Meg do
Oh, Cue and Meg
I wish I could find you

I've looked here, I've looked there
I've looked everywhere
Oh, Cue and Meg
Why can't I find you?

Cueball, where can you be?
Megan, why won't you answer me?
Cueball, oh Megan,
Wherever you are
I want you to come back to me

I don't have time to roam
I have things to do
I have to leave home
Oh, Cue and Meg, where are you?

If Cue and Meg didn't like to roam so well
They would have this raft to dwell
Cue and Meg, please answer me
I know where you are
You're across that sea

Cue and Meg, please come to me
Cue and Meg, now that you're here
Won't you come home
Cue and Meg, promise me this
That you will never again roam

Edit: why are almost no songs added to the wiki any more? Has there been a drastic decline in the number of songs made, or are people just not bothering with the wiki any more?

BG "Cold: A polar bearraptor" - The double 'r' tells me to FTFY as brrraptor.

ergman - Thanks to macraw83 for putting it together, I know of your loss. Sorry. Also, sorry, because I thought "endish" was "pseudo-end"/sad and not just the adjective you meant it to be. Of the sad family matters, this would be the saddest. *shoulder*

"I heard about that." - I didn't. I often won't know of something unless you xuys talk about it/link to it. Most holidays I know of from youses. lol.

mscha "GNO hats" - You tricky human. It's ONG backwards but pronounced simply NO!

yappo "I'm completely unfamiliar with anything after gen 2, not because I'm an elitist or anything" - I might be. Not against others enjoying them, just for myself. Those legendaries that BG posted...they're not very unique. They appear to be clones wearing different colors. Well, back in my day a legendary, while it fit into a category, was unique in style and characteristics. Plus, I never played the later gens due to it's backwards incompatibility and I thought, eh, no thanks then.

mrob27 wrote:Anyway, I think the important things are to make an AUTOMOME/automeme/OTToMeme that is fun, works well, and makes sense, more or less in that order. And we're all doing a fine job at that.
You're right. But coding is fun, too. To be challenged is fun. The backend is fun. Silly non-important decisions (such as brackets) is sometimes part of the fun. As long as it's not unnecessary frustration.

"Annother ancient author" - Who is this? I thought I remember a previous entry by said author. Neat stuff.

Jerk version:
Rock: Guitar
Sand: Man
Heat: Vision
Vegetation: Table
Cloud: Cake
Lightning: McQueen
Space: Chimp

Thanks, this made me laugh. :) (It sounds like a great automeme edition.)

I really really like this.
I was going to say how confused I was as to which aspect of this you like. Doesn't matter too much. Cool thing is, I organized the meme, using the chirpingmustard.com words, automome by mrob generated this, and balthabot ONGed it. Community. Kinda cool.

Now time to go...

XXXIX

There were no glitches.
This never happened before.
First Cleric was stunned.

His thinking was clear.
It was time to contemplate
something the Pope said:

Rosetta was not the end...
He's trapped in the frames again!
The Pope must be saved.

Gather everyone.
Balthasar will Quest alone.
Along with his bots.

Bid the group adieu.
The contraption rises up.
Randalspeed, Balty!

Wait For It? Not now.
The Pope is in Grave Danger.
Commandment is RUN!

Spoiler:
Rapidly Scrapidly
Cleric the First gives the
Orders to break down the
campsite before

nightfall approaches the
Mediterranean
landscape they'd wanted to
fully explore.

"No time to lose - we must
gather the coconuts!"

Firstie was focused and
taking command,

melodramatically
leading the group down the
mountains - an exit that
hadn't been planned.

Catching a glimpse of the
vista before them The
Holy Catographer
points to the right.

"Can you believe it?"
The streak's unmistakable.
"I think a Blitzer is
coming tonight!"

No time to ponder; they're
racing the sunset, but
everyone looks at what
edfel has seen.

Seeing the streak of a
blitzer from high on the
mountain is hardly con-
sidered routine.

Downhill is faster than
up but they have to be
careful they don't let their
speed get away.

Slowing, the First Cleric
ponders the way that a
single mistake has of
causing delay.

Darkness comes sooner the
more they descend so it
might have been better to
wait until dawn.

But this isn't leisure; the
mission is vital. The
Pope is in danger of
getting withdrawn.

Onward they press as the
night becomes darker and
phantasmagorical
thoughts interpose.

"Did the First Cleric lose
all of his marbles?" the
rest of the group wondered.
"Do you suppose?"

Firstie was wondering
which he was playing: the
mustard or ketchup, and
that gave him pause.

Never before had the
thought come to mind that his
grand cogitation just
might have its flaws.

As they descended the
air became thicker and
soon all his thinking slowed
down to a creep.

Microanalysis
wasn't a thing he was
used to performing while
still needing sleep.

Yet they all followed him
on through the night as though
wisdom was shining from
out of his brain.

This was unusual.
Still, as they galloped he
clearly remembered what
he must explain.

"Prayer isn't heresy.
Hotdogs are tasty and
mustard is making the
world go around.

Don't mix them up! If you
do the result isn't
what you expected.
It's hardly profound."

Incontrovertibly
counterintuitive -
this revelation from
up on the mount.

Harder, it was, with the
air getting thicker, to
marshal his thoughts so to
make his account.

Dawn was approaching when
they reached the valley. The
sun made the waterfall
glow like a flame.

Soon the Cathedral was
off in the distance, with
gathering throngs for a
Blitzer's acclaim.

"Head for The Pope" he ex-
claimed to the party, who
followed his orders with
unquestioned zeal.

Seeing First Cleric in
total command of his
senses and brain was su-
premely surreal.

Into the chambers they
went with alacrity,
finding The Pope in the
middle of prayer.

There were Rosettas and
Luckys and Weddings.
Even a tile with
"Hello" written there.

The First Cleric knelt.
The rest of the party too.
Pope was not surprised.

"Please - you may arise."
"I come with enlightenment."
"I expected so."

It will have to wait.
Em-Ay-Craw eight three is here.
A new BlitzGirl has arrived.

IT'S MOOLPIES ALL THE WAY DOWN

Postby mrob27 » Sun Aug 17, 2014 7:32 am UTC

第五十八章

(chapter 57)

Morobu walks a bit closer, then sits in a pew. The high priestess-bot AUTOMOME smiles slightly.
"I am seeking Link, he's a duck I met a few days ago."
The bot replies, "AND WHY DO YOU WORRY ABOUT QUACKMOLPIES? CONSIDER THE MOOPIES OF THE SEA, HOW THEY HOTDOG: THEY NEITHER NINJA NOR CH*RP."
"Sea cows? I didn't know they had those here." Morobu frowns. "But I think Link has gotten lost..."
"WHAT ARE QUACKMOLPIES? WE JUST DON'T KNOW."
At this, Morobu chuckles. "Well, I don't claim to understand ducks fully, but — but he's a friend, and I think that's what matters."
"VERY IMPORTANT FOR LINK TO DO XIM RAFTCASTLE."
"Huh." Morobu thinks about this. "That kind of makes sense. If by raftcastle you mean—"
"I'M GOING TO ENHANCE THIS RAFTCASTLE, AND BY 'ENHANCE' I MEAN 'MEMEIFY', AND BY 'THIS RAFTCASTLE' I MEAN 'BEESNAKES'."
Something snaps in Morobu's head. "Bees!" Morobu hadn't thought of that. Their buzzing has been frequent and consistent, unlike the steadily dwindling chirps of the sparrow-raptors. "So Link and I could get help from the bees?"
  "WINGISH BEESNAKES ARE SUPERIOR!"

NOTE: I have retro-edited my previous "MTA posting test" post to include chapter 57 of the Morobu story. (I might as well give you these chapters now, since I'll be writing more on my trip.)

balthasar_s_s wrote: Also, the browser just looks for the number in the status code and I can put any text after it, right?

I think most browsers do that. I suppose MSIE might crash your system if it gets a non-standard string :P
Also, I had a dream where you said that in revenge for me using your automome to make ONGs without asking you for permission, your automome will now randomly add "_s" to characters' names. For some reason I was really afraid of this.
Are you sure that was a dream? You might want to add a remove-_S filter to your bot. Just sayin' ...

That's a pretty treeish AotC, @ucim ... Thanks for all the dactyls!

This might be my last post for a couple wips. It depends on whether I can get Wi-Fi while floating down a river in Europe. We'll see...
